  1. Yes but there is no relegation in US sport. Very fair point, but the ego of a person spending £200 on a football club doesn't believe it has to worry about relegation. When Randy Lerner bought the team, even though he knew relegation existed, he never thought it'd be his problem.
  2. I believe if Lescott is signed we'll be looking at five defenders next season rather than four.
  3. One thing to consider when figuring out how much you can get for Aston Villa: When Lerner bought the club there wasn't all the American money coming in from the television deal with NBC here. If there's anything American sports can teach you, it's that your team can be terrible forever but you'll still make money thanks to television.
  4. Unless there's a really good barbecue.
  5. London club syndrome strikes again.... Except Reading isn't in London... Living 15 minutes from Reading, I can confirm that it is, in fact, definitely not London I'm from the States, but I've always assumed Reading was in Reading. And Google Maps confirms this news for me.
  6. Because Marc Albrighton isn't worth £35k a week.
  7. My plan is to mention every US owner of a sports team and claim to be ITK once it's all confirmed and on the OS. How many major sports teams are there in America? If we include NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS and NBL, roughly 20 teams apiece lets say. Therefore we need approximately 100 new twitter accounts making one prediction about the new owner each. When we are sold later this summer theres a good chance we will have one verified ITK account! Come one every one, lets get working - 10 teams each, I'll start on the MBL . God help us if we picked up by a Russian Between the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS and MLB (which is what I assume you meant by NBL) there are 141 franchises.
  8. The guy with the crazy scarf says in the video that the lion is embossed on the back of the shirt. So it's not just visual effect.
  9. I think it depends on how much it'll cost to get him. Yes, he had a nice season but he's still a 31-year old striker. It's not as if there's a lot of improvement in his future.
  10. The man they call Brian he talk sense. The man they call Brian, he dreamer. Seriously, then what the hell would we do?
  11. Here you go. Paul Lambert walks out on #ncfc after bust up on being refused permission to talk to #avfc who will now look to appoint him as new manager — Pete Lansley (@PeteLansley) May 30, 2012
  12. The Daily Mail mentions it too. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2152360/Aston-Villa-want-Paul-Lambert-replace-Alex-McLeish.html
  13. Well considering the budgets he was working with, what other choice did he have?
  14. LeBron James had an entire televised special in Cleveland to announce he was going to play for Miami.... LeBron James is "the new Michael Jordan" sic, or the Lionel Messi of Basketball. The biggest name in the NBA. Roberto Martinez is at the most a towel-boy in the world of football, not sure he merits his own televised special or PC for that matter... Now if Messi were to move im sure the media cover would beat anything we've ever seen in football You miss the point of what I was saying. I'm not saying that Martinez deserves the attention, I'm saying that James had the PC in Cleveland even though he was leaving his hometown for Miami. So just because Martinez is having his press conference at Wigan doesn't mean he's staying.
  15. I'd like to buy this shirt, so instead of making mock ups, produce these please.
  16. LeBron James had an entire televised special in Cleveland to announce he was going to play for Miami.... In the USA. Sadly not relevant to the way things are done in European football. I don't think RM is leaving Wigan either, I'm only pointing out that sometimes the logical choice isn't the one somebody makes. Also, I think you greatly underestimate the similarities between American sports and European sports. At the end of the day, no matter the country or continent, it's just people making what they feel are the best decisions for themselves.
  17. I don't say this to be mean or anything, but friends, you really need to let go of OGS. He's not coming.
  18. LeBron James had an entire televised special in Cleveland to announce he was going to play for Miami....
  19. I'll go with Given because Brad hasn't quite figured out his accent yet. He was on the Fox Soccer set for the CL final last week here in the States, and at various points he sounded American, English and German. If you can't quite figure out which accent is yours, then you're probably not as decisive on the pitch either.
  20. I'm not having a go, but who were they talking to this week? Daily Mail says we talked to Martinez's agents on Thursday. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2150077/Liverpool-offered-Roberto-Martinez-job.html
  21. I won't believe it until Dave Whelan tells me we haven't.
  22. BREAKING: Dave Whelan said that RM had to fart during his meeting with Henry, but that he held it in for a good two hours before he finally found a moment of solitude. Whelan said that RM wouldn't have to hold in his farts around him, as they're like family, and that's why RM should stay at Wigan.
  23. While I won't actually miss Emile, I will miss the laughs I had at McLeish trying him out on the right wing.
