  1. its certainly a very tough decision to make, do we sign a 37 year old who hasnt played for 4 years, or do we sign a holte hero, a fans favourite, a player that always gave everything to the cause and tried his damned best to win a game? who was passionate about his job? imo, i would love to see villa sign stan, even if its only for this season, even a bit part contribution would be more than what most of the wasters did last season
  2. obviously villa are near enough in every media outlet at the moment, its a big deal that the club has gone down, so, an article i read earlier stated that rdm is only looking to sign a striker and another on loan. well i hope this isnt the case, when youve got £50m to play with, you arent just going to spend £20m, he should take this opportunity to strengthen were he can, the club is carrying too much dead wood which we can shift so it needs some solid timber to support it, granted, itll be difficult to sign players now, but rdm has a better standing than any of our previous managers. gestede appears to be safe, ayew looks to be going, gabby we are stuck with, just leaves kozak to prove himself, which i reckon he could do ok for us.
  3. a couple of things have made me laugh this week, theyve now spent their summer transfer budget, we are just spending the coins before we spend the notes, and today, trevor francis is keen to go back to the sty as an ambassador role, hes still nothing to our brian little, another angle in which small heaths attempt to emulate villa.
  4. nobody would pay 5 quid for richards never mind £5 mil, looks like we are stuck him
  5. we havent consider paying a club to take him yet guys.
  6. he seems a player that would cause shit in the dressing room if he doesnt get his way, no great loss, £7m could by better. only problem is that he wants to stay in england (like all europeans do!) so can see him/his agent turning this offer down

ill hold my hand up and be honest that i wasnt a fan of his at first, he was out of his depth in the premier league and was far too weak, since then hes clearly bulked up, but dont think he has played a game since, the championship would do him good before the club goes back up
  8. lol, a team of 22 players wouldnt last long in the championship, it wouldnt even make it past xmas. central defense we will need at least 5 players, central mid at least 6, maybe 5 up front as well. we dont need to be a selling club anymore, we dont need to sell before we buy, the club has money now to invest into a proper first team, those that fall behind, will now get left behind. > CBs Okore (& Clark) and Elphick (& Baker) < this as well, wouldnt work, okore and elphick are right footers, who will play on the left side of central? clark and baker are left footers, who would play on the right side of central? adding to this that clark and baker cant, under any circumstance, play together. regarding kozak, i think the club has been very unfair on him, i think he could be good in the championship, he just needs someone quick to feed off him.
  9. i vote for gabby and sinclair to be shipped out
  10. theres still so many areas the club needs to strengthen, a right back and a striker have got to be next priority surely.
  11. does anybody know how long his contract is for?
  12. its great to see us signing promising midfielders, and he will no doubt be an important part of the team, but he is still young, and with more alot more games to play this season, and can see us having to keep players like gana and veretout
  13. ill be honest, by now, i thought we would have at least another player in by now, we probably have one of the highest transfer budgets in the league so what are we waiting for. also, the only player that have gone are those whose contracts have expired.
  14. apparently he doesnt want to come here...
  15. were going to need quite a few centre mids to rotate, theres alot more games to play, nobody needs to leave, they just need to improve
  16. ok so we go into the championship next season as a new look aston villa, from top to bottom by the looks of it, and by reading flabbys article, its clear thats hes bound to be here next season (maybe because nobody will sign him), but ye although i agree that no player should be booed next season (even richards and lescott) i still dont agree that these 3 oxygen thefts should be here next season, if were stuck with them, just dont play them. theyve had too many chances, no more please, its disheartening seeing them in the line up.
  17. weve lost too many decent youth players over the years which would have been easy to keep, albrighton, whittingham, cahill, davis, gardner, just to name a few.
  18. as much as id like to see both back in a villa shirt one more time, i dont think we could use them as a pairing, we would be out paced and bullied off every ball in the middle of the park, both would need younger legs to acompany them
  19. some of you seem to be under the impression that if he gets fit and is given a contract that he will be playing week in week out like he did before he retired... which is what you are clearly fearing theres no way that would/could happen, at most, itll be a couple of sub appearances to the end of game, or in a starting 11 were he will benched at half time, can any of us really see a full game from a retired player thats just overcome a severe illness and is far from match fit? just enjoy it for what it could be a 'jesus second coming' kinda thing. :-)
  20. throwing money at the problem might not be the long term answer, but this club needs a short term fix. richards, lescott and gabby, if nobody comes in for them, theyre dead weights on the payroll regardless (just like nzogbia) yet their positions need filling with a better quality player with a better attitude, the bullet needs to be bitten and players need to be brought in if this club is stuck with the 3 mentioned until their contracts expire then we need to forget about them and make them train on their own
  21. all the clothing looks good tbf, i was imagining it looking cheap however i agree with most regarding price, far too expensive to buy a shirt that you can only wear for 10 months year, i for one dont actually see the point in wearing sports wear if you are only popping to the shops or going for a meal, i mean, its not like youre doing lunges whilst eating a lamb shank or doing star jumps whilst standing in the queue at tesco, its only valid if you work for the club imo, quite cynical of me i know.
  22. awesome write up. after the last few seasons that this club has dragged the fans through, its good to see positive things are actually happening, and not just positive provoking statements as a marketing ploy, its nice to see a balanced perspective from inside the club you are absolutely right, the past is behind us, we have to accept it for what it was, move on from it, learn from it and move forward this time in the right direction one thing is for sure, a few people who are still at the club that contributed to our downfall better watch over their shoulder, the lion is coming for them. looking forward to next season now...
  23. another liverplop flop rather hilarious how liverpool have made a perfectly good striker, sh*t. im still gutted he didnt stay, but the grass is only ever greener on the other side when its been fertilized by bullsh*t. however palace, what a team they will be next season.
  24. ill admit, i wasnt a huge fan of his before hand, i just saw him as another squad player, although in hindsight i guess i didnt see what he done in those 90 minutes. however, seeing the pictures of him in training with the team was a delight, for someone that has gone through what he as is awesome, i for one hope this club offers him a contract, this club has signed many players over the years on high wages who havent done anything, at least stan will give his all for less many and more passion, its possible we wouldnt see a full game out of him but anything is better than nothing. i wonder if the club do re-sign him that he will get his shirt number back.
