  1. We've made such a mess of signing lbs recently that I hope we spend a bit of money and get someone we know can do the job. No gambles.

    Carles Gil

Was that said today? I'd have thought both would have pre season to try and impress. After his injury I don't think Kozak would be a massive loss if he was sold but I'd like to see what Gill can become in a villa shirt.
  3. Not sure what's so hilarious, unless you had a look at some of the things you said and how wrong you were? I could imagine that could have you rolling around laughing. Anyway i'm sure this is pretty boring for everyone else so I'll leave it there.
  4. In terms of his transfer budget i'd have no issues spending a chunk of it to get a better keeper than Guzan. The only real starting position we need to spend on is LB. Everything else will be making the squad stronger but we don't need to spend a fortune in other positions. I'd like to target a new starting keeper for next season.
  5. You keep saying you're not allowed yet that's never been said but well done for repeating it. Yes hopefully we do and he keeps making your ridiculous comments towards him before he even got the job continue to look foolish.
  6. I've never been a big fan. As back up he'd probably be ok but is he better than Kozak? I'd say he's probably quite similar in that won't do much but will finish off decent chances created for him.
  7. Really? I'd be very happy with that.
  8. Well i thought i'd respond in the same manor as your sarcastic 'absolutely mental, i know' (if you look at the Vlaar thread for example you'll see plenty of posts like that). Vlaar is a good example, he's not someone that's been fantastic time and time again so I can understand why someone would be critical of that performance, I was myself. But then contrast that to the attitudes towards poor performances from cleverly and delph, nothing like it because why would you when it's a one off. And that's my whole point with Sherwood. Anyway like you said it's going round in circles and is becoming more and more pointless. I don't see the point in being overly critical towards him after one bad result, if others do that's their choice and a forum like this allows them to do so.
  9. No mental would be saying you'd want anyone but Sherwood or even wanting Lambert to continue ahead of Sherwood but we can't mention past posts. And I don't think i've questioned anyone who said it was a bad game, it was, it would be daft to say otherwise. But i'd be surprised if any of those players had comments like Pathetic stuff from Sherwood. It's all well and good setting us up to attack but when you're shipping goals for fun you have to **** change and Sherwood has been too god damn stupid to do that today, pig-headed ignorance of the highest order. Today we come to appreciate his "Tactics Tim" nickname. Absolute tosh from the team today, which of course lays squarely at his feet. Sherwood messed up and deserves criticism today for it. slight difference in attitude wouldn't you agree?
  10. Exactly. That's literally all it is. Again, which is ironic because that's mainly what people were doing, despite pointing out the negatives of yesterday's game, until you threw your toys out of the pram and decided we weren't allowed to say anything bad about the manager after we got humped 6-1 I asked why you'd want to be critical? Same thing i'd ask if people were being critical of benteke, grealish, delph or cleverly after yesterdays game.
  11. I said numerous times go ahead, I just find it strange that people want to. I'd much rather focus on the brilliant job he's done and what we might be able to achieve with him for the future.
  12. I may have unfairly lumped a few in and yeah I don't remember you being overly critical of him before he joined. I think in the main though it seems to be those that were really against him when his name was just linked. I'd have thought after over achieving from what many thought was a very difficult task, that this thread would be full of praise for the job he's done. But it seems to be more about wanting to justify being able to criticize him for one performance. And if people want to do that fine, I just don't get why they would.
  13. Pretty much everyone is criticising his tactics yesterday, so that's not really a coincidence at all. It's your obsession with people's previous opinions that is causing you to draw false conclusions. No it's quite clear thanks.
  14. Well it must just be a massive coincidence that the ones who criticized him before he joined are the ones wanting to criticize him now.
  15. I think it's more important that key players are fresh and healthy than winning the game. And TBH i can't see players being fully committed in a nothing game a week before the final
  16. I'd like a crazy lime green or yellow away shirt for next year.
  17. Haha why? We've survived, job complete. Today's result means nothing. Why some are so eager to want to have a go at him is beyond me. Still want Gill here ahead of him? Why are you so surprised that people are criticising one of the worst villa performances many of us have ever seen? Because it makes no difference. I keep reading he deserves criticism. Why? Why do you want to go out of your way to criticise him. He's done a great job and completed the difficult task set for him. Why do you want to criticise him after that? What do you get from it after we've survived? Its not his team, its not something he's built over years. He's come into a difficult situation and been excellent. It hasn't always been great. So what? But nobody is criticising the job he's done. Everyone is agreeing he's done an excellent job. But that doesn't mean we're not allowed to criticise anything. That's blind faith. Which is the irony. You can't seem to understand that people can be 100% behind the manager and still constructively criticise performances. Just like under the previous manager you couldn't understand people wanting him out but not thinking absolutely everything he did was bad. Not everything is black and white. I'm behind Sherwood. He's done an excellent job and its overwhelmingly positive. But that doesn't mean I can't see how terrible we were yesterday. It doesn't change how I judge what he's done with the club. The irony is the amount of times you accused people of blindly following Lambert and not being able to see the negatives. And that's exactly what you're doing with Sherwood. Not at all, I can see the negatives from yesterday. It was awful. But this wasn't a mid season game that has a lot of meaning to it. This isn't a squad he's spent years putting together and working with. Every manager and every player is going to have bad days, it happens to all of them. I just don't see the point in being critical of the odd bad game when for the most part things are going brilliantly. It would be like being critical of Benteke for his performance yesterday. What's the point being critical of one bad game when for the most part he's been brilliant. Same with someone like westwood, delph and cleverly. Absolutely pointless getting on them for a poor performance yesterday because they've been absolutely fantastic recently. You want to criticise after achieving his goal, go right ahead. To be honest the people who are and who like posts like yours are the ones who were critical of him before he even managed his first game and are the ones who have made some daft comments towards him early on as well, so it's not a surprise. For me i'll focus on the fantastic job he's done keeping us up and proving all the doubters wrong, or the ones who thought no one could do any better than the previous manager. There will be bad results and bad performances because it happens to everyone, but as long as they're rare it's not an issue for me. This is mental. Basically what you're saying is if a manager or player is generally doing well, we're not allowed to ever criticise anything they do. So you literally do see everything as black or white. Good or bad. It explains a lot. No i'm saying why would you want to? And lets be honest there's a reason you want to criticize sherwood the first chance you get rather than having a go at say westwood or benteke for a poor performance after a run of brilliant games. You wanted anyone but Sherwood to become manager of the club.
  18. I would rest as many players as possible. WIth burnley down and us safe it's a nothing game and will have no effect on other teams. I guess after the southampton result sherwood might want a few to earn their final spot.
  19. Is he fit? TBH it would be great if he was our back up LB next season.
  20. Well that's different scenario. And you said or liked daft comments regarding sherwood before he joined, so it's no surprise you ask when it's ok to criticize him. Wouldn't surprise me at all. He had a very good record at spurs and a has a good record here.
  21. You can do it whenever and how ever much you like. Just seems strange you're so eager to do it the same day he achieved the difficult goal set for him. Yeah, strange that people might want to discuss how and why we lost 6-1 on a day when we lost 6-1. He asked when he can criticize. I find that strange that the day we achieve safety and a week before we play in a cup final he got us to, someone is asking when they can criticize. And as I said to Ingram, there doesn't seem to be much of a discussion.
  22. I would hate Vlaar to stop Clark or Baker to continue developing and improving. I think we need to look for another back up defender in the mould of senderos to replace him.
  23. So if Benteke tries a diving header to take a penalty in the Burnley game we can't call him a clearing in the woods for trying it because he's great? Bit of an extreme scenario.
  24. You can do it whenever and how ever much you like. Just seems strange you're so eager to do it the same day he achieved the difficult goal set for him.
