  1. Moyes need time and full control to be at his best and deliver on a budget. He will be very cautious and want reassurances from any new employer to get both before he accepts a new job. Not sure if the board/owner/management is willing to give him that to the extent Kenwright did at Everton. Sean Dyche would be mad to move at this time and Pearson is a nutter. I don't fancy Bruce at all and 'Arry is a bad joke. I´m struggeling to see any good British candidates...
  2. Narrow sighted, IMO. Or maybe he really meant British
  3. From readytogo (not a great source, but could he be right?) It isn't just that Villa are going down, can't keep a manager and have such a poor squad which means they'll struggle to get back up any time soon. The finance director is a friend of mine and he's taking very early retirement to the south of France. He says that unless a buyer is found very quickly they'll be in as bad a shape as Leeds United
  4. Seems to be very effective from the TV-pictures
  5. Commentators taking the p... out of him.... deservedly so...
  6. Looks like a pre-season game (to some extent I admit it is...)
  7. Laursen on Danish TV absolutely hammering the appointment of Garde. Easier on Lambert/Tim.
  8. That´s not defensive minded
  9. I think it's about the time perspective. If allowed time (and a little sum of money) Moyes or Garde could be good choices. If it's about pulling out all stops to get straight back to the PL I think you'd need another type of manager. To me the latter is more risky overall, but probably what will happen. If it doesn't succeed, season 2 (and onwards...) in the Championship could see the concrete starting to solidify around our ankles, as only massive investment or good luck with young talent could rectify or stop the decline.
  10. Bournemouth looking the more likely if there's nothing coming from the next two games. Sad indeed.
  11. Minimum of 34 points to stay up, imo, and probably 36 and a decent GD should do it.It's a 3 horse race with the mags SAFC and Norwich as I see it - and I think (so do statistics) Sunderland will edge it on GD and on the last day. Getting 18 from the last 9 is CL-form, so I'm guessing in the 35th round vs. Southampton, like SEB, since I can't see any of the other teams in the race getting enough points on board to widen the gap enough for certain relegation any sooner.
  12. I sometimes enjoy listening to games on the radio. I somehow makes it more exiting.
  13. Would you walk away from those 30k per week? Just to show them up? RG hasn't made mega-bucks in his career, so I doubt that any of you would walk away.
  14. Please elaborate - I can't see your point here?
  15. If you know the guy on the left can't shoot or cross you just let him have the ball and close down his options. Ball won. Opposing teams of course play to expose Villas soft spots - it's a crucial part of the game.
  16. This was what I was replying to: "I genuinely believe that all of the following players could leave us and become good players in the Premier League, as part of a different team that plays as a team" Which is saying they would do better in a better team. Which is hardly surprising. In a team like Sunderland I doubt any of the mentioned players would make much of an impact, as they are as disorganised as Villa, and none og these players are leaders. I can see 4, maybe 5 players that could play a role in "a team that plays like a team" to use your phrase.
  17. Most players benefit from being put in a better team. Can't see more than 4 or 5 that would get in a PL-team not involved in the relegation battle
  18. Some would be sold rather than bought by other teams. I can see 4-5 players leaving easily.
  19. Everton has been following him for a long while, according to Bryan King.
  20. Total investment = Purchase price + needed investment For a buyer the latter part is just as important as the first - and in that department Villa requires a fair bit, which might outweigh the drop in asking price
  21. You might be right, but part of my point was merely that the threat of possible relegation hasn't (yet) motivated their owner to invest or signal heavy investment in this transfer window. How these owners think about their investments I don't know - I'd have thought everybody and every club would be pulling out all the stops to avoid relegation this year - or getting promoted from the Championship.
  22. Well, Newcastle and Sunderland would be claiming the same. Neither of their owners seems to think possible relegation requires either investment now or motivate them to sell up. No queue to buy Leeds lately with the fans looking the most prospective buyers currently. If you're looking for a silver lining I don't think this is it, unfortunately.
