  1. The fact that the TV deal ££ is coming surely means that anyone wanting to buy the club does so now so you don't have to pay the inflated price due to larger income. Now is the time to buy a PL club - not next season.
  2. To what benefit. If he'd enriched himself as a result of owning Aston Villa I'd be inclined to agree - but he hasn't.
  3. Or perhaps he cares enough to take difficult decisions like not bankrupting us with a wage bill that was larger than turnover at one point. (Yes his fault ultimately - but you can't blame the guy for correcting mistakes) There are plenty of sticks to beat Lerner with: awful managerial appointments, the absentee landlord approach to ownership, lack of ambition to take us forward, but you can't criticise the guy for not fancying taking a £200m pain in the arse to get rid of us. You wouldn't do it. I wouldn't do it. You can't blame him for not doing it.
  4. Cheap, easy to do and got the message on SSN. Seems a sensible and effective way to show your message to me If you say so What should they have done? Can't think of many easier and cheaper ways to get your message broadcast on the biggest sports channel in the country. I bet you've got to go shopping at the weekend for a new bedsheet, haven't you? Top Tip - Plan what you're going to write first and make sure it fits. Nothing worse than LERNER Out for ruining a protest.

Can't think of many easier and cheaper ways to get your message broadcast on the biggest sports channel in the country. Not wasted perfectly serviceable soft furnishings on a message the bloke they aimed it at already agrees with? Not embarrassed themselves and the wider supporter base by waving one pathetic banner? I'm all up for clever fan protest. The Ellis £ stuff was excellent - a clear message with a clear outcome that was within the chairman's gift to give. Whatever you think of Lerner, and no - I don't think he is the devil incarnate - he has put the club up for sale at a reasonable price and been choosy about who he has decided to do business with. He could have flogged us by now to all manner of arseholes but he hasn't because I genuinely believe that he cares about who takes over and he'll only allow it if its in his and the clubs best interests.
  6. Why? They're not happy and they're showing it. They spent their money and gave up their time to go and watch us lose again, no problem with them expressing themselves. Hopefully this sort of thing continues. I'm all for protest when there are set, achievable aims. A couple of divs raiding their mums linen closet won't achieve anything. Best case scenario is deeps the media narrative of "crisis Aston Villa" and reduces the chances that we can recruit a decent manager - who wants to come to a club where the "fans" are pointlessly protesting against an owner who is more likely to join in with them than disagree. Lerner wants out. This is well known to everyone. The banners achieve nothing beyond stating the bloody obvious. Want Lerner out? Don't go. Don't spend the money on the club - turn the financial screw and force Lerner into a situation where he has to cut his losses.
  7. Come on Randy. Sell us harder. We've started on the single bed sheets, force someone to pay you money or its the egyptian cotton kingsize fitted ones next. Jokers.

Has a manager ever been coined by his own fans on his first day before?
  10. You've got two lots of DLC yet.

STOP TALKING ABOUT "PREMIER LEAGUE EXPERIENCE" ITS A TOTAL IRRELEVANCE. What have Wenger, Mourinho, Pellegrini, Ancelotti, Bilic, Howe, Benitez and more all got in common? They've all come into this league and worked wonders WITHOUT ANY PREMIER LEAGUE EXPERIENCE. Sherwood had it, McLeish had it, McCarthy had it, he who Trent says must not be named had it. Its total Bollocks. Cheap platitudes spouted by idiots and journalists. On this basis alone I hope you are first to be KTFO'd with Trents banhammer of justice.

That's called "mitigating your losses" They have a massively short favourite at the moment, and IF it comes off they are out some serious ££. What better way to soften the blow by strongly linking* (completely making up a story about) another credible-ish manager and discussing at length the odds available on him. Particularly if you can emphasise the "value" and "better returns available" by backing the bloke who isn't the favourite. SSN/SkyBet is a totally bent racket. I'd recommend ignoring both of them.

Alan Brazil is an intellectually challenged rotund buffoon who spouts rubbish for a living. The only information I'd trust Alan Brazil to give me would be what discount Wickes have in store this week.
  14. I had to sit through a meeting with some knob (mid 20s, public school, plays rugger, probable Oxbridge degree) from the "Digital and Enabling" team as he banged on about "synergenic thought space" and the need to "secure our customers golden truth" He then went onto excel himself with this little gem "Consider the impact of the multi agency dive down with reference to the cross phase elements of our change journey." **** if I know what any of it means and I suspect he doesn't know either. Its all presentation and chat - if you feel the need to talk like that there is clearly no substance to a single thing you've got to say.
  15. EDIT - Done to death above. No input required here from Eames.
  16. Mentioned this yesterday - I think it's more the Front Office set up that american football and baseball teams have always used, where a coach is given a squad and is expected to coach them to victory. It seems to get called the 'moneyball approach'. There is a film Draft Day out on Netflix that basically shows what it involves. Not a bad show actually. Or the movie "Moneyball?!"
  17. Oh bread puns!! He'd be toast before the season was out. Our defence would be far too easy to roll over, we'd baguette a couple of wins before the fans got a cob on over a few naan-sensical results. That's a wrap. /bread

It seems to get called the 'moneyball approach'. Its one of the most abused terms in sports journalism/comment at the moment and is only ever used as a pejorative term.

I think mine is up next summer. Edit: No, it's the following April. How funny. I always had you in the same age bracket as Mooney.
  20. I would argue its to save his reputation. He's already lost his job IMO or rather the decision to sack him has already been made. They are just waiting for a defeat afterwhich they can make the announcement.
  21. Very Interesting, we can either disgard it as rubbish/ one mans point of view or embrace it as the bloke(TS) has got some job on his hands. Truth is its both. Sherwood has got a massive job on his hands and one that he is clearly incapable of doing. Trouble is his mates and ex-colleagues will never openly criticise him because there is an unwritten code amongst pros that thats not how you do business.
  22. What we really need is an enforcer. An absolute thug in the middle of the park to take control of the squad, the team and the game. We need a bastard.
  23. Jesus. What a load of backing your chums tosh from Jenas.
