  1. I don’t see what others see with Doug. I think he is sloppy, lazy, dumb and just a bit rubbish. Of all our annoying players, he annoys me the most. I just want to give him a shake. Liven the eff up Doug for goodness sake.
  2. Why are we time wasting against these jokers?! The lack of urgency is possibly one of the most depressing things I’ve seen from any Villa team and trust me, I’ve seen some garbage! Needs some impetus from somewhere. Maybe chuck Archer on at ht and go for it. Anything other than 3 points here is a poor result. They are awful.
  3. The sad thing is, I suspect that we still wouldn’t have enough points to win the league if that happened. City have ruined everything.
  4. A win tomorrow could move us up to ninth! That’s utterly amazing when you think how crap we’ve been. I think we will get it too. 1-3 Villa. UTV.
  5. To be honest, he hasn’t turned us into a mess. We were a mess when he took over. He just hasn’t improved anything. We are still a mess!
  6. Not sure about that. We lost to Bournemouth who are awful and failed to beat 10 man Leeds, who are also awful. I think there’s a real chance of us losing at Forest too. A poor defeat could signal the end although I suspect he will hang on for a bit longer.
  7. I would be amazed if Gerrard gets sacked before the WC break. I think he will get until then to sort the mess out. If we are still doing so badly then, he will get sacked. It just worries me that the replacement will be another underwhelming appointment.
  8. We probably win that if he didn’t get injured. In the second half all of our attacks came down the right where sadly Konsa was playing. Had it been Young we likely would have been more creative. Hopefully the injury won’t be too bad.
  9. This is so true. Our biggest weakness as a club is our total inability to buy quality players. We pay over the top for average players, stick them on massive wages and then watch the clock count down until they leave on a free. Ollie has been poor for ages and fans give Gerrard stick for picking him every week but the reality is, if we replace Gerrard, the next guy picks him as well, just as the last guy did. The biggest fault is wasting £60m plus on Bailey and Ings. If you sack Gerrard then Lange has to go too. He’s clueless.
  10. He’s been so bad again. Get him off at half time.
  11. He needs to be better. Our best player in years?! Really? Grealish says hi!
  12. We will win this one. 0-2. A brace from Ollie.
  13. Our defence and midfields complete inability to keep the ball for two or three progressive passes means we need to resort to pumping the ball up front in the hope that our centre forward can make it stick. Only Ollie can get remotely close to making that work. It’s just not in Archer or Ings game. Until our players stop giving the ball away needlessly, Archer will have to wait to get his chance.
  14. The injury didn’t seem too bad to me. I suspect he will only be out for a few weeks and the international break will eat up some of that.
  15. It may well be fella but fortunately you won’t be making that decision and neither will I! We have to trust the multi billionaires who have made their fortunes off the back of knowing when the right time is to hire/fire their staff.
  16. I would love Rogers. I really think that we would be a good fit. He’s a smart manager who knows how to operate at a massive club with big name players. He has won plenty and he knows how to operate in the transfer market. I live in Leicester and things aren’t right at City. The owners have totally pulled the plug in transfers and there are loads of rumours about the players being unhappy that Vardy is still at the club. That’s why Schmeical left apparently. They are worried that anything they say will end up in the press courtesy of Mrs Vardy! Anyway, a tough start to the season for them does not undo a few really good years of work from Rogers. They were in a similar position to us when he took over and he made instant improvements.
  17. I think we made the wrong decision bringing him here. The same goes for Leon and Ings. We spent £90m on these three plus a load in wages and we have had very little return on our investment. If we could go back to last summer, I wouldn’t sign any of them. I just don’t see where Emi plays in a PL team. He’s not fast enough to play as a forward. He’s not physical enough to play in midfield. He also loses possession way too much. I like his attitude and he really does thread some lovely balls through to the forwards but he doesn’t do enough else. He’s so close to being a top player but he’s just a bit too short in too many areas. His best role is as an impact sub but it’s a big investment for a club like ours to only have him effecting games from the bench.
  18. What makes you think that they think it’s acceptable? I am 100% certain that they will not think it’s acceptable. I am also certain that, as measured business people, they will not make an impulsive decision. They will make the change when they think that the time is right.
  19. Listen to his interview on the OS. It may be different to one you have heard. It’s absolutely clear.
  20. I don’t agree. He talks about our quality a lot. He has openly admitted that we are not playing well and should be doing much better than we are. He doesn’t shy away from it. Sadly though, we have been playing like a team that has just been promoted! That’s the thing to worry about. The fact that he knows we should be doing better without seemingly knowing how to make it happen. I still want him to succeed because it’s better for AVFC if he does but I’m starting to lose faith in his ability to deliver.
  21. To be fair to Gerrard, what he said was true. He was alluding to the fact that the players and he were feeling the pressure that such a poor start to the season has rightfully created. He stated that a bit of pragmatism was necessary, to win points and get them up the table. With that, the pressure would reduce, the confidence would increase and enable them to play with a bit more freedom. What he said was fine. He wasn’t trying to create a false narrative. For what it’s worth, despite having many faults, honestly in his appraisal of team performance, is generally fairly honest. I was disappointed in his team selection yesterday and to be fair, the performance was really poor but despite that, he always fronts up and is honest in his assessment.
  22. I’m not saying that I would trust Gerrard to improve this squad but I also wouldn’t expect things to change significantly just by changing the manager. I think any manager would struggle to get consistent levels of performance out of these players. These players have never performed consistently well at this level.
  23. I’m not saying that it was good. It wasn’t. It was very poor but there’s loads of hyperbolic rubbish floating around and we should try and at least retain some perspective. I’m not convinced by Gerrard at all. He makes some incredibly odd decisions. We totally lack any identity. Our players constantly lack conviction and confidence. Is that not what we used to say when Dean was in charge though? I suspect that a lot of our problems stem from a player pool with incredibly weak mentality. I would happily back Mings, Bouba and Emi 1 to have the mental strength to withstand lots of things but I wouldn’t back any of the others when the chips are down.
  24. Yes. Surely you can see that Leon is a big part of that problem? He creates nothing. He offers very little. He can hit a screamer when teed up but surely we should expect more than that. Gerrard definitely has poor tactics. On that we all agree but Leon just doesn’t look like a top level football player. I’m sure he would look equally as poor for City or Liverpool.
  25. I’m not saying we were any good to be honest (we clearly weren’t) but we did at least look solid. I never felt that they would score.
