I’d be amazed if he is still in charge by the time we play Fulham. I am genuinely sad about that because it’s not good to change managers in less than a year but he can’t argue. It’s simply not been good enough. I worry about what will come next though. I don’t fully trust our board to make a solid decision. Whatever happens though, our fans need to show more patience. A small minority were against Gerrard from the beginning and it’s not helpful. Whoever comes in is going to find it hard because quite frankly, the players aren’t good enough.

I think Gerrard wants to be more hands on, so it’s unlikely that this will happen. I do think it’s a good idea though. Gerrard definitely has great pulling power for players and I like the discipline that he’s bought to villa. He would be a great DOF in my view.

Maybe but we haven’t seen it yet. His best form may only come after a run of consecutive games but he should still look like he has the key attributes. Ramsey, for example, has not been in good form for a while now but you can see that he has the tools to be a top player.I just can’t see it in Emi, despite really wanting him to be great. I think exactly the same is true of Bailey.

I’m looking forward to the bewildered comments on this thread when the new manager comes in and people realise that Buendia is not all that after all. I’ve seen absolutely nothing from him to suggest that he is a top player at PL level.

Baring a very unlikely victory against Chelsea, Gerrard will be gone by 5pm Tuesday. I think it’s a bit sad. I didn’t want Gerrard but I desperately wanted him to be successful. Our club is never going to be successful until we can appoint a manager of real proven quality and herein lies the problem. We never show real ambition in our managerial appointments. I would say that the last ambitious appointment was MON and even he was very limited. Prior to that you have to go all the way back to Big Ron. I genuinely don’t trust the board to make the right appointment. I think their key appointments so far in Dean, Gerrard, Suso and Lange have been unimaginative and unambitious. We need to make a statement now and unless we do that and stick with it, nothing will change. Over to them to prove me wrong. To be fair, everything else that they have done has been fantastic. I just don’t think they have the football intelligence to make the right selection.

It makes me sad seeing SJM taking a load of abuse. He needs to be dropped to give him time to get his act together. He has done loads for our club and he still has a role to play but he is in awful form.

He’ll get sacked on Monday the day after we lose to Chelsea. We won’t get battered but another narrow defeat, 9 points from 10 easy games and it should be good night.

I have defended Gerrard but the last two matches have been too much. We are so cautious and utterly clueless. I think the players have to take a fair amount of the blame and I’m far from convinced that any other manager will do much better but I think we have no other choice than to try something. I’m just so bored.

He is so over rated. Offers very little. Our Grealish summer was a disaster. Best part of £100m utterly wasted on Emi2, Leon and Ings! Infuriating. That was the start of our problems and we have never recovered.

Not sure about that. We lost to Bournemouth who are awful and failed to beat 10 man Leeds, who are also awful. I think there’s a real chance of us losing at Forest too. A poor defeat could signal the end although I suspect he will hang on for a bit longer.

I would be amazed if Gerrard gets sacked before the WC break. I think he will get until then to sort the mess out. If we are still doing so badly then, he will get sacked. It just worries me that the replacement will be another underwhelming appointment.

We probably win that if he didn’t get injured. In the second half all of our attacks came down the right where sadly Konsa was playing. Had it been Young we likely would have been more creative. Hopefully the injury won’t be too bad.

This is so true. Our biggest weakness as a club is our total inability to buy quality players. We pay over the top for average players, stick them on massive wages and then watch the clock count down until they leave on a free. Ollie has been poor for ages and fans give Gerrard stick for picking him every week but the reality is, if we replace Gerrard, the next guy picks him as well, just as the last guy did. The biggest fault is wasting £60m plus on Bailey and Ings. If you sack Gerrard then Lange has to go too. He’s clueless.
