  1. There's no doubt that Makoun is a decent player but at the moment he does seem off the pace which to be fair is understandable to a certain extent. It was always going to be difficult for him at the start, especially coming into a struggling team but so far he has shown enough for me to think that he will turn out to be a decent player for us and a bargain at the price we paid.
  2. I'm so pissed off with the referee and Jagielka over Everton's penalty! I can't believe that it was given! From where I was sitting Beckford's effort looked over the line but when we then went 2-1 up I thought we might just get the rub of the green for once and come away with 3 vital points. You just can't ask Villa to hold onto a lead for 20+ minutes though this season! It's VERY frustrating. I thought we played well in parts today, especially 2nd half. Downing was man of the match for me today and not for the first time this season either! Bent took his goals well which was good to see. His England performance Vs Wales has clearly brought his confidence back up. Him and Gabby didn't really link up as well as I would have hoped though. At last Ash was back on the wing. It might not have been his best game but at least Houllier finally put him back out there! The Newcastle game was always going to be important but with other teams down the bottom end winning today the Newcastle game next week has become VITAL!!! We simply can't afford anything less than 3 points from that game but it is going to be VERY tough!
  3. If Walker doesn't fully recover in time then I'd go for: ...................Friedel.................... Cueller..Collins..Dunne..L.Young .....................NRC...................... ........Makoun..........Delph.......... Downing.......................A.Young ...................Bent....................... If we were to play this system against Everton I'd be alot more confident in us winning but if Houllier sticks to playing Ash in the hole then I can't see anything other than an Everton win! The situation we are in is beyond desperate now and even a point wouldn't be good enough really at this stage of the season with how close the table is! I've got a VERY bad feeling that we'll be in the relegation zone this time tomorrow :-(
  4. Nice finish from Delfouneso for England Under 21's just.
  5. Can you imagine if we somehow managed to get Mourinho ha ha. If we couldn't break into the top 4 with him plus Randy's cash then we'd never be capable of it! I know he wouldn't come but it's a nice distractive thought for a minute or two! Although it's not so nice when you snap out of it and remember what's really going on! As for this Moyes story it's probably more lazy journalism from journalists reading topics on this site. Moyes has been mentioned by alot of fans in various topics on here regarding who they'd like our next manager to be!
  6. You obviously haven't seen any of Jones previous fights then. I obviously have, I just wasn't expecting him to be so dominant against someone like Shogun! It's crazy to think that Jones has only been doing MMA for 3 years. He'll take some stopping! I do like Rashad Evans though so I'm looking forward to that fight.
  7. If Downing wants out then it's just another case of no loyalty in the modern day footballer. We paid alot of money to take him from Middlesbrough even though we knew he'd be injured for half a season! It really wouldn't surprise me if it's true and we lose both Downing and Ash in the summer!
  8. Moyes would be quality for us! Look what he's done for Everton. Now imagine him at Villa and with much better financial backing than what he currently receives. He doesn't stand any shit off players either and you could never question his commitment or motivational skills. He ticks all the boxes for me. Just a shame that I don't think it would happen, especially next season when we are playing Championship football.
  9. It's amazing how much difference a season makes. James Collins was superb overall last season. Compare that to this season and it's as if he's a totally different player! Same goes for Dunne. These two are the prime examples of there clearly being alot more problems behind the scenes than the fans know about. I'd put money on the possibility of some of the stuff that was said by Collins and Dunne in the argument is exactly the same as some of the things that we moan about on here! What does piss me off though is if they hate Houllier and his ways then that's fine but the way that they play should not be affected by this! They are professionals that are paid alot of money to do the best job in the world! Poor, under committed performances are a total lack of respect to the fans! They should just get on with it as normal and sort out the problems in the summer and if it means leaving then so be it!
  10. Great shout on the Downing song @ Spl1304. It fits well.
  11. If only it was that simple General. If only! Any chance you can fly over to give them a good kick up the backside and a motivational speech ahead of the Everton game? Someone's got to do it! If you don't then let me!!!
  12. Jon 'Bones' Jones. Impressive! Wasn't expecting that.
  13. Hi General, I would like to say that I am not in any way against Randy, yourself and the other board members. Randy has been brilliant for us since taking over, nobody can argue against that. With that being said, the appointment of Houllier was an awful decision and this has now proved to be the case. All of the hard work that Randy has done for us is about to be thrown away because there is no doubt about it we WILL be relegated if Houllier isn't removed immediately. He lost alot of the fans a while ago but as you are aware he has tipped even more fans over the edge now. Enough is enough!!! We are a club in crisis at the moment and there are absolutely no signs of us improving over the next 8 league games. There is no passion or desire on the pitch because the players clearly don't want to play for him. There is no passion from the bench from Houllier and Gary Mac. They both sit there all game like the clowns that they are. There are clearly major problems on the training pitch aswell with what sort of work is being done. Defending is obviously not worked on because this season we have defended like a bunch of 9 year olds on the school playground! If Randy really does get to see comments or hear about comments then he needs to do the right thing. He needs to admit to himself that he made a huge mistake by hiring Houllier and he needs to rectify the situation by sacking him. Put Kevin MacDonald in charge for the remainder of the season and then sort things out properly in the summer. At least Kevin loves the club and the players seem to love him. I have no doubt that under Kevin MacDonald we would do ALOT better in the remaining games than we would if that French clown was still here. Act NOW before it is too late. As you will be aware we don't play again until April 2nd. If Randy does the right thing and gets rid of Houllier then Kevin MacDonald has two weeks to try and sort a few things out before we play Everton. I have been going to watch the Villa play for 20 years home and away. If we get relegated then I will be heartbroken and I will find it VERY hard to stomach watching us play Championship football next season. Keep Houllier and we get relegated. It's as simple as that! He has won 6 league games out of his 25 in charge. As I said at the start I'm still behind Randy and the board but... WAKE UP RANDY!!!
  14. Let's be honest, Houllier is going nowhere until the summer at the earliest. They won't sack him right now, if at all. Even if they did it would be silly bringing in a new manager for 8 games. I'd rather see Kevin Mac in charge again for the remainder as he already knows the players and has the respect of the dressing room. IF by some major miracle we stay in the Premier League then I'd love to see David Moyes as Villa manager. Whether he'd come to us or not is a different story. Failing that I'd go for Martin Jol. I really liked him at Tottenham and I think that he'd do a great job for us. Unfortunately I think we will go down and the likelihood of Moyes leaving Everton for the Championship or us attracting someone like Jol would be minimal. I honestly couldn't think of a decent realistic manager that we could get to lead us back to the Premier League. Paul Lambert has worked wonders but he's on the verge of a promotion to the Premier League, why would he guide Norwich to the Premier League then leave?
  15. How the **** have we managed to sell 40,000 tickets for this game? Hopefully we could see a sell out crowd! Obviously I'm pleased about it but I'm also totally surprised as I was thinking we'd sell 35,000 max! Hopefully it's a sign of the times and the stay aways have finally realised that we are deep in the shit and that we need all the support we can get at the moment whether you are for or against Houllier! People need to try and put that to the side for 9 games and get behind the lads regardless. We really can't afford to lose this but we are absolutely shocking at the back at the moment and I can definitely see this continuing against Wolves. A draw won't be good enough but I'd rather 1 point than no points.
  16. I heard a rumour about a month ago that this was on the cards but I thought nah I smell bullshit. It won't really make too much of a difference in the immediate future but down the line we could now see some fights that would never have happened before this deal. It will eventually shake up the divisions in a big way too. I think it's great for MMA in general to be honest. I'd love to know what Fedor is thinking now ha ha!
  17. It doesn't matter if all of our defenders were 10 foot tall, we'd still get beaten in the air this season! It's not so much the height issue at the back, it's the poor positioning and slow reactions that is the problem along with having a keeper that seems reluctant to come and clatter everyone to catch or punch the ball and help to ease the pressure when defending a set piece!
  18. Friedel Walker Cuellar Collins L.Young Albrighton Makoun NRC Downing Young Bent That SHOULD be enough to see us take three vital points off Wolves BUT this is Villa and the way things are going I can see us dropping points AGAIN!!! If we do then.... oh shit!
  19. Would like to know this myself. I've got a blue shield with a yellow lion and a white star at the moment. I saw someone with a Rangers one earlier and also a very good Real Madrid one.
  20. I really hate it when that happens. Personally you are doing well but your team loses and when the scoreboard comes up at the end there are idiots on your team that had 2 kills and 20 deaths! Takes the piss.
  21. As much of a shit hole England is these days at least we don't have to suffer through or deal with the aftermath of things such as earthquakes or tsunami's.
  22. Yeah the new maps are decent. I also like Berlin Wall but it's like a campers paradise!
  23. I was just proving the point that Ireland hasn't always been an awful player as some people seem to be suggesting!
  24. He was Man City's player of the season the other year, ahead of Robinho. I'm sure I remember him scoring 10-15 goals too.
