  1. Do you want everything spelt out to you Stevo? A defensive midfielder plays in front of the CHs, and cuts out the pass to bisect the CHs.Watch the goal again from sat, Westwood goes chasing the ball, and leaves the hole for an easy pass to the Stoke player. Now IF Westwood is supposed to be the defensive midfielder, then yes it was his fault, as was the goal against the Albion, as was at least 2 against Lplop. We need a defensive midfielder to play a dedicated defensive role, not sure that Westwood has the attributes to do that.
  2. Commander is right.A proper defensive midfielder should have been in that gap between the CHs, none of the midfielders were there. Now if Westwood was picked as the defensive midfielder, then he was out of position. I actually think the reason why we give so many goals away is because of the midfield, they are not set up properly, and they are not resolute or astute enough.I would play at least one defensive midfielder, and tell him to just play in front of the CHs, preferably Sanchez as he is more physical.
  3. We should have gone down last season, and we stayed up, partly because Sherwood got the best out of Cleverley. Then CB went, Cleverley went, we bought players with the captain still at the club, then he went. All plans went out the window, and he had to buy, imo , more players than he wanted, and also spending net, one of the lowest in the Prem. To bed so many new, and largely foreign, players in such a short period of time was always going to be very difficult, but , although having my initial doubts about Sherwood, i actually like most of the players he has bought.I rreally like Avami, Gana, Richards, and other players like Veretout, Ayew, Traore look good long term buys, on top of that Gil and Grealish are very exciting young players.I think there is a good team in there somewhere, whether Sherwood is the manager to bring them all together is another question, but having bought them, and presumably having a plan, i think he deserves the chance to try. We need more pace in the team, Traore was a big miss today, as was picking Westwood and Sinclair, imo he needs to be more bold, have more faith in his signings, and play them.Ayew and Traore up front, Gana and Veretout in midfield, and a better defender alongside Richards, Okores?, with Sanchez in front.
  4. Offers nothing, no physical presence, no threat, no pace.He doesn't play bad he just offers nothing and makes fewer mistakes because he takes fewer chances. For me he is part of the reason why we are struggling.Gana is our best midfielder, and if he plays better alongside Sanchez, which i think he does, then we need to start with Sanchez.Whether Veretout or Gil play the 3rd midfield position, depends on who we are playing. Sherwood made a mistake from the start by picking Westwood instead of Grealish, and Sinclair instead of Ayew, we should be more positive.
  5. Best passer?.........an average passer in a below average team in the last 2 seasons. Veretout looks as if he has a pass on him, so hopefully he will be in the team soon, and replace the incredibly average Westwood. Hes an average player at best, and i expect more than that at VP.
  6. Westwood? God no, quicker he and Gabby are out the team, the better.
  7. Away from home, against ure, Plop Arse etc, i wouldn't play him, i would play a more pacy attack tbh. Lovely player to watch, hes 19, he doesn't need to play every game, and Gil or Traore are more than a capable replacements anyway.
  8. Sherwoods biggest mistake so far has been putting his trust in bang average players over new, but better players. He needs to get Veretout in the team ahead of Westwood, Ayew ahead of Gabby/Sinclair, and Traore in as soon as possible. A midfield of Gana Sanchez and Veretout has to be indulged for a while for the long term benefit, and with Gestede being the only obvious goal threst, we need to play players alongside him who compliment him better, but aren't neccessarily our better players. Have to say not sure about Lescott yet, and yday emphasised the need for a vociferous organizor in the team as well. All 3 of their goals was poor communication between the defence and the midfield.
  9. My thoughts exactly Mark. He has bought some very good players, give him time to let them gel.
  10. Overall i think i like him.It was utter shite what he come out with last night, but the players hes brought in, the potential we have considering who we have lost, and the amount of exciting players we have is quite exciting, as long as they have time to develop/gel. Gil/Grealish/Traore look as good as any footballer i have seen down VP in the last 20 years.Veretout and Ayew are at least looking as if they are worth the money we paid for them, and Avami and Richards look good signings as well. Its going to be a roller coaster with Sherwood, but since BFR it has become a bit depressing down VP tbh.
  11. When you play Westwood and Sanchez, you have no midfielder with the ability to take the game to the opposition, neither can beat a man , and bring other players into the game.Gana can, Delph could, and not sure about Veretout, but i wouldn't play them again together.
  12. Hes got to play instead of Gabby, and he needs to play the next 5 or 6 games. With Gabby we have no focal point to our attack, and nobody to hold the ball up.Gabby offered nothing again yday, no attempts, or no link play.Hes not the only problem, but he is one of them.Would prefer Kozak over Gabby anyday.
  13. Good pace, very strong, lacks awareness sometimes.Free transfer though, and alongside the right partner, an organizor/talker, will be very good.Hopefully Lescott is that player. Should have anticipated Vardys move for their equalizer, but overall i think a good signing.
  14. Funny player Sinclair. When he was on loan last season, i thought he looked like a player who had been out of the game for a while, his touch was hit and miss, his positioning not great, and his awareness a bit lacking, but he always looked a goal threat. Now move forward this season, he has been brought inside a bit, and looks a better player. His movement for his 2nd goal yday, was very similar to his 2nd against County, hes in the right position, i could never/have never seen Gabby score goals like that. I think, if Gestade doesn't step up, and we don't get another striker, then i wouldn't be too upset if we give Sinclair a go up front on his own.
  15. Got to give Veretout a bit more time tbh. If we have any money left then i would take a gamble on Van Dijk from Celtic
  16. So you would pick Westwood ahead of Gana and Sanchez then?
  17. You would pick Westwood ahead of Gana and Sanchez? I think it will be a Sanchez/Gana basis with Veretout/Westwood/Gil in the final position, depending on who we are playing. I expect Veretout to be in that position sooner rather than later tbh.
  18. I think to blame him for the goal is a bit harsh, not sure what Clark was doing tbh.
  19. Chicken Feed is right, no runners off him today, needs better movement in and around him. I really like Grealish and Gil, i just woory theres not enough goals in the team.
  20. For me, the midfield would be Sanchez and Gueye, with the 3rd one being between Westwood/Veretout/Grealish. Traore up front with Gestede/new signing down the middle, and Gil/Ayew/Sinclair on the left.
  21. Hes an inbetween CH for me, hes not quite physical enough, or quick enough .You need one or another. Had a good season last year, but i think Baker, or an older, more physical CH alongside Richards would be better.
  22. English Pirlo?.........i bloody wish.
  23. Neville made a good point last night about the lack of an organizor at the back.Richards doesn't do it, we need an experienced, physical CH alongside him. If we have £10m then i would definatley buy Embolo.
  24. I want you as my agent Bunnski. I admire your loyalty to him Bunnski, i just don't share it.
