General,

The recent doom and gloom has surprised me because I've really enjoyed this season and have worn my colours with pride. For 28 games we have surprised the premier league with a brand of competitive and entertaining football. We have suffered a dip in form during the last three games but it happens to most teams at some time or other. Please pass my thanks on to Randy, Mon and the team and all those of you at Aston Villa who have made me proud to be a Villa fan again.

I will be one of the first to renew my season ticket for next season.

UP THE VILLA!!!!

1. I just returned from a trip to UK. I had great meeting with Randy on Thursday in London and then went up to Villa Park for good meetings on Friday and Saturday. Then came the game. I was very disappointed in what happened. This was a game we should have won...a game we needed to win...and a game that our competitors around the league gave us an "opening" if we had won. It was just sad. I am sure that MON has had a long talk with the Lads...not just about passing and football skills but about confidence and aggressive football. This is a Squad that beat Chelsea and almost had Arsenal...they can do it. All I can say is that it was not good football and MON, Randy, the Directors and the Team all know it. There are people questioning whether Randy is really willing to spend money to improve the team. I can assure you, he is. Mon knows that and so do all the Directors. Both MON and Randy saw the game. They saw what you saw. I have said it before and I will say it again, we need to trust them. NO ONE is happy losing!! We want to win as much as anyone. When the team does not play to its ability, we are all gutted.

2. In contrast was the Youth Team. Yes, they lost but they fought the entire game and made us proud. We can take great satisfaction in knowing that we have some young players who will be starring for us in years to come.

3. Ticketing: I recognize the concern over the queues that were experienced. We are looking at some ways to solve the problem thru technoloy. At the same time, any businessman will tell you that it doesn't make good sense to spend too much revenue to fix a problem that only happens infrequently. We certainly don't want to be hiring a number of people just to meet a once or twice a season requirement.

4. Mosaics are on the way.

5. Yes, I was the Easter Bunny at the White House one year...in the "first Bush" administration. And NO, you are not going to get me in that outfit again.

its great to hear your honesty over the "performance"....

hopefully, the manager will see what thousands of us see with regards the squad, and do something about it in the summer..

the issues that we discussed might have affected our incoming january transfers and we can do nothing about that, but letting go players like moore, cahill, etc, were not affected by outside influences...

and its safe to say, that we could do with those players right about now..

thank you for your honesty over the game though... very refreshing to see...

It wasn't the basic football skils that were lacking I was annoyed about because I know we have a decent side, proved many times this season. It was the general lack of will to win displayed by the majority of the players who we're second to most balls and didn't compete like against Boro. Also the fact all 11 players made a quick getaway at the end without adknowledging any fans who wasted hard earnt money to see a half hearted performance. The only 1 who looked genuinely upset was Harewood who was last of the pitch for us.

1. I will get a count on the Bolton game tomorrow.

2. holte_k1: I think your comments were fair and spot on. I confess that I really did not see the aggressiveness I have seen for the majority of the season. I am not real sure what the cause....perhaps we were overconfident or underestimated a team fighting for survival. The answer is probably a combination of many things. Fortunately, MON does know how to handle this type of issue...unfortunately, we really could have used the win. Now it is behind us and we just need to get points in the games to come.

General,

I wanted to pass on my appreciation for the excellent tour of Villa Park my friend and I attended on Friday. Our guide was Diane Russell and she was excellent - really knowledgeable and helpful as well as providing a very entertaining commentary as we went around. She was also very kind when my friend had to leave the tour due to illness.

You'll be pleased to know that some people spotted you as we went into the Trinity reception - I think you were going up the stairs, as I heard several people (in very awed tones) say "I've just seen the General up those stairs" - it must have been how people felt when they saw the Beatles :winkold:

It was a thoroughly enjoyable couple of hours, and I'd be grateful if you could pass my appreciation on to those concerned. Thanks also to Randy and yourself for the work you're doing with us.

All the best.

A couple of things General.

Firstly notised scaffolding up at the Holte End the weekend, is this something to do with the new mosiacs?

2. I read a article in the paper about the Birmingham council wanting to shut down the k block in the holte end for persistant standing. May i point out that as much as rules are rules, away fans across the country do the same thing. Fans at stadiums like Old Trafford, St James Park and a few others also do the same thing. He mentioned ignoring stewards. I will admit last season they got on our case's a lot, this season i havent heard one steward to ask us to sit down? So how can this man make this statement?

3. And finally, ive been reading some other Birmingham City forums, and have read that at least 12 Birmingham City fans will be sitting in the Trinity Road stand for the game. I thought the club had done everything to prevent this sort of thing? And if a Villa fan has got these tickets for a Birmingham fan, i think he should also have his/her season ticket taken off him.

I guess you didn't hear the announcement over the PA asking for first Sunderland fans, and then Sunderland AND AVFC to sit down on Saturday.

Without wanting to answer for the General, there is very little the club can do when it comes to these people unable to keep to the conditions that they agree to when they purchase the tickets. Persistent standing is against the law - like it or not. Short of tying these people down with a rope there is nothing that they can do.

EDIT: I'm told that it's not actually against the law, but ground regulations.

To be fair the PA System is pretty bad, it makes it difficult to hear a lot of what is being said when you are at the back of the Holte

General,

After a particularly crappy weekend, thanks for being as blunt as you were in your last two posts. If you are as honest as you appear I think it's safe to expect better at least in terms of application for the last few matches.

Feeling a bit brighter again!

General ,

Not sure if you missed the question I posed earlier in the thread :

One thing I noticed last night was in the Trinity Road foyer is how out of date the wooden board of roll of honours are which shows a list of all Villa players and the number of international appearances they have made . Its out of date by about 4 years and doesn't do us justice , could you have a look into it please .

Sorry about the General give us a wave bit on Saturday if it offended  too much carlsberg :winkold:

General

PLEASE put the number of tickets sold on the main site, idont personally want to know it but it'd save 20 people per game asking you for this ridiculous statistic and my having to scroll pages of threads to see the interesting points people raise; I dont know how you cope sometimes with that honestly :-P

I've got a sponsor for our womens football team im starting, kits and everything, which made me remember the Villa Ladies team, how are they doing? and Thank you for helping don with their woes :) honestly so many of my friends are sooo jealous about Villa having you check boards and helping the fans have the club moulded to how they want it :)

Hope you had a wonderful Easter and MY GAWD were the girls hot on St Patricks Day, i love how everyone in the USA celebrates it :)

Guys you cant blame blue nose fans for coming to see REAL football, they're just a little jealous and need a little help in converting :-P

General Krulak here:

1. There should be no City fans in our seating...none. If there are, it is because our fans purchased tickets for them. If this is the case and we discover who bought the tickets, action will be taken.

2. The mosaics are, indeed, on the way.

3. Standing....the problem is simply that, although it is done in other stadiums, sometimes the "law" picks out one Club to make an example of. If it turns out to be us, we will find ourselves with a significant problem. We need to understand that it is fine to stand for the big plays, cheers, etc. but to stand for the entire game will get us in trouble.

4. I noticed the roll of honour myself and you are so correct...it is way out of date. We will fix it during the summer.

5. If any of you see me around the Club, please feel free to come up and say hello...I am very much a people person and would love to say hello to all of you. :D
