  1. The thing is Celtic have quite a few anthems and a lot of them tend to be from like really old songs - country stuff - Maybe someone into country music could suggest something?
  2. I think this is a fantastic idea of trying to get this done. I think the best suggestion has defernatly got to be 'Stand by me' Other ideas could possibly be a song from a Villa artist. Maybe a Twang song or even something from Ash? Also, when do you plan on starting to get this going, and how do you plan on getting it going? After all talk is of course cheap!
  3. Complete lack of respect to the fans, and Aston Villa Football Club! It's time for the board to actually admit they are wrong.
  4. General, If the board dont take action soon it will be to late. Theres only so long a manager can hide behind excuse's. We have a fit Carlos Cuellar on the bench - He should be given a chance when the back 5 has been terrible this season. Theres to many players not earning there pay packet and its about time players got punished for not wearing that shirt with pride. THEY ARE NOT FIT TO WEAR THAT FAMOUS SHIRT.
  5. Ok then mate, I didnt know as I dont tend to look back that far on pages.
  6. No disrespect intended here General but you keep jumping on people for stating there opinions about what happened at the club this summer etc. Well why not just come out and actually tell us as fans WHAT ACTUALLY happened? And then maybe some out there would actually understand. If the club did nothing wrong like you say we didn't, then I don't see why they haven't come out and stated exactly what happened? BTW. This isn't me having a go, its just I've read time and time again people stating what happened then you saying stuff back.
  7. General, When will the stewarding around away fans improve? I have spoke to so many away supporters who have visited Villa Park and they describe it as a great away day as they 'get to do what they like'. Once again away fans got on the pitch yesterday and I think I personally sore about 6 on the pitch with 2 getting kicked out, and the other 4 just being pushed back into the crowd. Im sure a lad got kicked out against Birmingham for falling onto the pitch. So how come it appears to be a different rule for away fans? And also because this has been happening for so long now when will this be stopped? It doesnt happen at grounds like the Emirates, Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford so why is it happening at Villa Park?
  8. General thanks for replying and I wont go into slating the manager (after such a short time) nor the chairman as he is a man i have a lot of respect for. Im sure you understand we all read the press about players coming in and players going out and although probably 99% of the stories arent true but this is all us football fans have because football clubs cant say to much, especially in this day and age. I had a fantastic time over the past few seasons with away games, and the two trips to wembley last year. I can only dream of more in the future. As your moto goes 'PROUD HISTORY, BRIGHT FUTURE'
  9. General, What Im about to say doesnt really need a reply. More of a read and take notice. I can't help but be worried about our club at the moment but at the same time I understand the way MON left he didnt leave us in the best situation. Some might say he finished our season off before it began. However, you have put your faith in Houllier and I will get 100% behind the manager so I beg that you listen to this man and his expertise and allow him the funds to do whatever he feels he needs in the next 2-3 transfer windows. Clubs like Man City and Spurs seem to be leaving us for dead, and then all the work you have done since you have been here will all be undone unless we step up and take some action. Regards.
  10. Hey General, Just a question about the kit - of a different kind though. Im sure when the club predicts its yearly income that kit sales are involved in these sums. So I was just wondering with the kit coming out so late, what effect could this have - if any - on the potential profit of the club this financial year? Regards Stuart
  11. General i do apologise, I thought you came on the forums for us as fans to express our concerns about certain issues, not only to come on here and currently praise Randy and yourself. And again, in what I said, not once did I say anything about the board - I simply replied by what you said. Don't compare Villa to other clubs if you dont like it when they reply back about others.
  12. The fact is general - Your comparing us to Birmingham? Who charged season tickets holders £5 for the league cup game last night? And Villa are charging double that? Its not me bringing other clubs into it but yourself Aston Villa is Aston Villa not Birmingham City or any other club! And your also saying its acceptable to rise prices for home fans because its a 'big game?' so in fact its more about making money than how happy your fans are? You talk about transfers etc - I would understand if we actually spent some money in the summer. £24 million for Milner, 20k+ season ticket sales etc.
  13. Hey General, Couple of points to make. Open Training Session: I always think things like these are fantastic and i believe its a credit to the club that they always do features like these so that many youngsters who may not be able to get to matches for whatever reason can get along to villa park and see the players. Couple of negative issues on this though is the attitude of security around Villa Park. I went down to Villa Park today to purchase some tickets while this event was about to kick off, and the security on both the main car park and the Holte End car park were extremely unhelpful to myself aswell as others and spoke to me like i was a piece of crap you would step in on the floor. The second issue is maybe on events like these because of the amount of kids there should be some kind of lollypop person on duty around the ground. I noticed many people struggling to cross roads because of the amount of traffic. Ticket Prices: I can't help but notice that we are days away from the Midlands derby with Birmingham and we still have tickets available. Now i know the club try there hardest to listen to fans but £43 for fans - especially in a area where unemployment is a very high i think is disgraceful. Now this doesnt effect me as Im a season ticket holder - but I would rather see VP full, than half full so i really think stuff like these should be looked at. Regards
  14. Morning General, Hope all is well with yourself and your family. Just a quick question about the Scouting system. It was well documented that MON's scouting system wasnt the best, and that one of the reasons Houllier was being appointed was to sort out this problem. I was just wondering if he has started fixing this problem and if you are able to tell us what steps he has began to take? Oh, and i heard a rumour that Kevin McDonald has been linked with a few manager jobs in Scotland - just wondering if theres much truth in this? Thanks General.
  15. Morning General, I know your coming over to the UK today so Im not sure when you will be next on so lets hope by the time you read this the lads have got 3 points against Everton. My question or even idea isnt manager related or transfer related as I feel although we are all frustrated you can only do what you can so best of luck with that. Mine is more about how empty Villa Park is for Europa League games and League Cup games. Im sure your well aware about the current economy but many season ticket holders have just splashed out £400+ for a season ticket and although its fantastic value for money compared to most surely the clubs priority has to be filling the ground on a match day so may i suggest you offer season ticket holders some kind of special offer. We have around 27k season ticket holders I believe and if you could get just half of them to take up there seats for cup games you could be on to a decent winner here. Maybe offer season ticket holders of so many years free entry? or even entry for as little as £5. I know you drop the prices but £15 is still to expensive for some in the current climate. Anyway - just a suggestion. Hope all is well.
  16. Afternoon General, Im sorry but I have a bit of a moan and it isnt kit or transfer related. I've been a season ticket holder at Villa Park now for pushing on 14 years and I will continue to be as long as finance allows. Anyway, I went along to the pre-season friendly with Valencia and generaly had a good time. However, in the stands i have started to notice that on the 'cheaper' games we get plenty of idiots in the stands that the stewards simply dont seem to do anything about as they insult younger members of fans who are there because of there love of the game and for the club. There are plenty of people smoking and getting away with this. A young lad who was with me for this fixture walked out of the game and was ever so dissapointed for being called a 'bluenose' because he refused to stand when the old 'stand up if you hate the blues was sung'. The lad in question has been a season ticket holder for the past 2-3 seasons however he has stated he will not renew this season and will only travel to away games because of people like this at Villa Park. And its not just this young lad, there plenty of people i talk to who are now saying they prefere away games over home games because of selected fans in the stand at Villa Park. Now, I know nothing can be done about this but I just thought you would like to know what is going on inside Villa Park on some match days and it might be a idea to give stewards more power or something to sort out idiots like these. My second point or should i say question be will the signs be updated on the area the club have updated on the corner of the North Stand? The new development looks very nice but i feel this should be sorted. Also, will there be a screen re-errected as fans in the Holte End dont have one to look at anymore?
  17. Just watching the Emirates Tournament on the box and i was wondering General if it would be possible for Villa to host a tournament of its kind? Surely it would be fantastic preperation for the side, playing a tournament at home and also the revenue would be fantastic for the club. And given the opposition being decent enough im sure Villa Park would be packed to the rafters?
  18. General, I have a couple of questions for you. You talk about slimming the squad due to wages etc, but the Premier League requires we name a 25 man squad come the new season, we stuggled to cope with the current squad size the past few seasons, so can i ask how the board thinks we will improve if we are even smaller next season? And the second question. There was a rumour circulating about the new sponsorship deal with FX Pro that would see the Villa logo going on a F1 car. Is there any truth in this at all? Cheers.
  19. Hey General. Firstly as always I hope you and your family are good. I just wanted to warn you that some people will get on your back this summer over decisions the club may or may not make and I know we all have our moans etc but most of us are pretty pleased with how things are going. I for one would take a repeat of this season for next right now. Theres no point any of us moaning and getting on anyones back as you said the owner has plans and hes pleased with how things are going. I know when he first come he stated he wants to take us to the top level (champions league), and you keep mentioning the plans so i doubt this has changed and i await with eagerness and watch on as to what Martin and Randys next step is. Heres to a good summer - Enjoy the world cup and come on England
  20. Ive booked my Train with London Midland. From New Street to Euston and then onto wembley for £16 return. I think the last train is 9.30pm. Im on the 8.30am train so should be in Wembley for around 11ish. How would i get to the green man from the Wembley Station? I went to Silverspoons last time, but i fancy something different this time out. Also, is there a place for flags here?
  21. General, Thanks for replying to my question and i think it answers everything in a nutshell. Less of the negativity now and its time to get behind the lads for this Saturday. Do Villa have anything planned like United did at the final with the believe thing? It looked pretty good.
  22. General, I know you've answered questions concerning the future of Martin O'Neill etc, but what about other rumours? Is James Milner going to be sold when a offer of a sizeable amount comes in? Or will we fight tooth and nail to keep hold of our best players? There was a five year plan when Randy and MON come in, with 5 years coming up now, will this plan be re-evaluated? And if so will there be a announcement so us fans know where our club is going? And lastly, are the club in a good position to buy players in the future financially? Or are we tighting the purse strings and having to sell to buy? Oh and one other thing, is Randy Lerner still happy with things at Villa? He's a quiet man who keeps himself to himself so we can only listen to what we hear in the press?
  23. Hello General. Hope your good. This is a question relating something completely different to what you are used to. Me and my long term girlfriend have decided to tie the not in the summer of 2011 (the summer of no football ), and im not that religious, and i know this is a old cliché but Villa pretty much is my religion with Villa Park being my church. So of course we have looked at having our reception at Villa Park. I was under the influence that all season ticket holders get room hire at Villa Park for free, but when we enquired i was told im only entitled to 20% discount on the room because its a wedding and not a standard party. I was just wondering if you could find out more information on this? Ive been quoted £4000 all in, which of course is a lot of money and when planning a wedding you need to save money where you can. So i was wondering if there was anything you could do for a season ticket holder at Villa Park of 10 years. Regards and thanks in advance
  24. General, How are you? Are you looking forward to the game the weekend? I cant wait. Just a question about the future of our club. With all the talk of finances in the media at the moment, i just wanted to know if Aston Villa F.C are in a good financial condition at the moment? And would they be if Randy Lerner was to sell up in the future?
