Always said he was a very inconsistent player - tho ironically he has been consistent with us thus far - consistently shite that is. In the final third we looked excellent, some lovely touches and good vision, Bannan has been very good there. However we haven't been in the final third anywhere near enough. In the middle of the pitch we're almost invisible. We've defended pretty well though. Hard to say how this is going to work out - we're nearly playing some good stuff and nearly playing shite, it's too close to call! Hope he doesn't drag Zoggy off to soon, I think there's space there that he could exploit, he needs to get his confidence up. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Bannan looks good in their half bit been a bit careless at times as well. Delph has been poor, losing the ball to often and not effective in defence. Nzogbia gets into good possessions then makes horrible decisions, needs to be a bit more effective. Bent needs to score those chances if he is going to be as anonymous as he has been. Laivasse Posted September 17, 2011 Share Posted September 17, 2011 Feels to me like we have a huge hole on our right hand side because primary responsibility there has been given to Bannan who isn't a defensively minded player and has no right foot so he always drifts inside. He's also not the beefiest guy in the world. He's meant to be providing cover for Hutton who looks less than impressive defensively to me so far. So when either of those guys lose out in midfield we're relying on either Petrov (slow, has an attacking remit atm) or Delph (looking unsure, favouring the left side anyway) to come over and plug the gap. IMO at some point I'd have Bent off for Albrighton on the right in a 5 man mid, because Bent just isn't firing on all cylinders. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
brummybloke Posted September 17, 2011 Share Posted September 17, 2011 im not watching the game but sounds like nzog is having a shocker.whats he doing wrong?? without sounding harsh, pretty much everything so far, his control has been crap and either loses it after his first touch, or keeps it too long and runs into 2 players or holds on too long and someone just walks up to him and takes it off him, or his pass goes straight to a newcastle player he has been involved in 1 move of note where benty missed that was good play but 1 pass in the whole half is not good. Nzogbia is such a lazy word removed! Delph has the effort but his brain isn't fast enough. Bannan on a different wave-length and footballing plane to those around him. Just why?! 6million, welldone you remembered what league the lad is from yet did you watch it and delph? A small young player who bossed and controlled the league, he is in a much more restricted role here (covering the lack of pace from petrov) after being injured for such a long time and naively being rushed after injuries. You may not like him and your entitled to thinking that but he's shown signs of returning that 6mill investment if he just gets some consistent time to play. He's been poor but he's tracked back for the most part. We were poor in the 1st 15, good in the second and too cautious in the 3rd. Need a better half if we're to win this I think.
