Hoyer out for the season. Shame! Weeden gets a last chance to show the Browns they don't need to draft a QB next year. He looked good on TNF to be fair.

A month in...

Bets for the season from Grantland's Bill Barnwell

* Broncos to miss the playoffs: risk $20 to win $135

That was money set ablaze ($20 down)

* Bucs over 7.5 wins: risk $200 to win $148.15

* Bucs to make the playoffs: risk $30 to win $69

* Bucs to win the NFC South: risk $25 to win $200

* Bucs to win the Super Bowl: risk $20 to win $1200

More money ($305) set ablaze...

* Chiefs over 7.5 wins: risk $250 to win $151.52

* Chiefs to make playoffs: risk $30 to win $66

Winner, winner, chicken dinner... down $107.48 thus far

* Colts under 8.5 wins: risk $100 to win $83.33

Too early to grade, but not looking good...

* Eagles to win NFC East: risk $20 to win $120

Definitely still in play

* Falcons to miss playoffs: risk $50 to win $67.50

Probably safe to grade this one a winner

* Jaguars over 4.5 wins: risk $100 to win $62.50

* Jaguars to win AFC South: risk $10 to win $300

Hahahahahahahahahaha

* Lions over 8 wins: risk $250 to win $185.19

* Lions to make playoffs: risk $40 to win $76

Sharp plays.

Overall, he's not in terrible position.

Rumors of trade talks between the Steelers and Texans... Schaub and a first round pick for Roethlisberger...

I hadn't heard this but if Steelers did it, it'd be a bit crazy. Until that O-Line improves, Big Ben is realistically one of the only QBs out there who can handle the pummelings he takes week in/week out. Although the Steelers are nearing the point where they need to possibly draft a QB for the future and any first round picks wouldn't go amiss.

I think that's the idea. The brain trust was in Louisville to look at Bridgewater last night...

The Texans are still in win-now mode: they basically planned for a 5-year window when an older Peyton would allow them to be competitive in that division and they're only three or four years into that. If they can get two seasons out of Roethlisberger they're contenders in the AFC.

For the Steelers, they have a lot of needs going forward and the draft picks are going to be useful. A 20-ish first round pick is probably enough to either package with a top 5 and cut a deal with Jacksonville or Tampa or New York for the #1 overall (if they like Bridgewater) or it makes a nice consolation if they trade out of the top 5 for a few lower round picks.

Some reports saying APs 2 year old son has died after being in critical condition. Apparently his ex's boyfriend beat him up. Sickening. :(

Just disgusting, hopefully some swift prison justice sorts this POS out.  I think AP should be allowed to be in a room with him for 10 minutes.  RIP.

Good graphic, I still struggle to get my brain around how guys like Troy Smith and Tebow can be named the best player in College football but the NFL has no use for them. I read a book by Ron Jaworski that explained it pretty succinctly but it sill blows my mind a bit.

Terrible news about Peterson.

Yeah, it's all very interesting. As a Steeler's fan, I would be kind of impartial to the idea I suppose, it would all really be dependent on what QB we ended up drafting. I certainly haven't seen enough of Bridgewater to form enough of an opinion of him and how his talent could translate to the NFL, but it is at the point where like you said the Steelers need a whole lot going forward and if they can use Ben to get what they need it might be the best option, especially considering he might not even have many more years in him with the hits he takes.
