SAFC's third choice striker. £24m is excellent business. He may score a goal or two but you need more than that to get your team out of a relegation scrap.

3rd choice? I've heard it all now. Spit out those sour grapes, it's not a good look.

Rumour on BBC site is that Chelsea are planning a hijack.

Has this got to the stage where it's hijack-proof?

You'd think Bent would be crazy to join Chelsea from a career perspective, but if he fancies earning more money, living in London and sitting on the bench at Champion's League games...???

Is passing a medical, agreeing terms and looking at flats in the Birmingham area enough to suggest he'll sign ?

Usually. :?

That's a funny read!

Bulshit...they have no money to spend.

Mmmm, right!

Hilarious thread from the start....all laughing...

:crylaugh::crylaugh::crylaugh: Yep, it's definitely worth starting at page one!

Villa fans have had a bee in their bonnet about Bent for years (they think they should have signed him when he went to Charlton, Spurs and us), Villa strikers are currently firing blanks, we get linked with Owen, so therefore in the minds of idiots on messageboards Bent to Villa.

They forget that we would not sell him to Villa, Villa would not offer enough to sign him, Villa are struggling against relegation and we are fighting to get into Europe, that Houllier has said a couple of days ago that Villa won't sign a striker in this window and the fact it would just leave us with Gyan as our only fit striker and even he has a knock.

Houllier has spent very wisely. For 24 million he has secured an Premier League proven striker and a very solid defensive midfielder, two of your weakest areas.

I agree, lets hope this deal goes through!

Can we have Milner back?
