Went off at half time too. Kicking the wooden door through and giving the metal roller door a right shilacking. Couple of Noses dragged through and given a right kicking.

A view from the other side...

Damn, I thought they were gonna tear the metal shutters down and steam right through or something! Disappointing! :)

Are we talking about Robbie Fowler here?

So its not Mark Fowler from Walford then??

I think you will find he died some years ago

I blame the General.

That Apache gunship was needed, and he let us down

Too right! Where was the general when you needed him. I would have happily settled for a couple of Bradley APCs post match.

Well that will make the police's job a little easier. There were two or three clearly identifiable 'fans' smashing things. I sure that they will check You Tube as someone is bound to be stupid enough to post a video of his mates smashing up the Sty. Job done then.

I find it very sad that these idiots nominally support Villa. They are no better that the Neanderthals who were running all over the pitch last night.

Looks to me to be 15 year old chavs, hopefully the club look to ban them from our games.

A few mates at work were telling me what had happened, my mate was just getting food behind the shutter and when the blues fans got through one spat in his eye which I find disgusting. Also everyone I know that went said the policing was awful.

I think its bad on both parts, ruins the game.

+1, when the smashing went silent all I could picture was it bursting off the hinges and everyone rushing in

It can't be beyond the wit of man to devise a way to get fans in and out of a ground without trouble??

The police are always useless in these events. There are maybe 20 games a year - derbies etc. - across the country that generate this sort of behaviour and atmosphere and I wouldn't have thought it impossible to have a special team set up to deal with these events that travels around the country when appropriate, even if they are supplemented by local police. This would ensure consistency and best practice and better planning. Probably too sensible for our forces to consider! And I would have thought the PL/FA would be able to fund this.

It really is about time that clubs that have this sort of following/behaviour - Scum, Milwall, Cardiff, Leeds and a few others - took responsibility and sorted it out.

And there all in london fa cup weekend that will be fun for the police down there

I missed the first 15 minutes of the game, by the time I got into the ground we were already 1-0 down. I knew from the moment I got roped into walking to the ground and into the ground with the Villa "firm" numbering in the hundreds. As I made my way down from the White Tower pub where we were parked literally dozens of police vans sped up the road ahead of us, I thought something must have been kicking off further up the road but it turns out this was to prevent the mob which I hadn't yet seen following me up the road from clashing with the Blues fans who were waiting by the away fans entrance. After getting caught in with the mob and making numerous pleas to the Police to let me out of the escort/group (or idiots as I called them) as things were not looking great, it was clear thiese lads were up for it and getting lairy towards Police and any nearby Noses which led to a number of baton charges by the cops a a few arrests. I was scared by this point, I made it clear to the Police I had no intent of being with the hooligans and I just wanted to watch the game but it fell on deaf ears. I don't know where this lot came from but it was obvious who and what they were from the start with scarfs (and union jacks flags to cover faces) and hoods being donned. The Police told us the kick off had been delayed but surely this was just to keep the mob happy as I found out they wanted to wait for all the fans to be inside the ground before escorting the firm in.

After the final whistle, just to clarify, it was a Villa flare as I saw the person who lit it but and the away end was trashed with broken seats (thrown at the SHA fans on the pitch and in the stands next to us) and the toilets were traditionally smashed to pieces. I was disgusted with the behaviour of both sets of fans and after it had finally died down and we made our way slowly and with a massive Police escort out of the ground, under siege from bricks, bottles, coins and snowballs with god knows what in them. After an hour wait/march we were finally allowed to disperse, one of the worst nights of my life, I will never return to the Sty, because thats what it truly is...

It sounds like you got caught up with the wrong lot but don't let this ever put you off or anyone else for that matter from attending games at the sty.

It's been this way for generations. I was bought up in Quinton and used to listen for hours when I was a kid of storys of the Quinton Mob,Black Danny etc taking the blues pubs, the blues end etc etc as written in the Villians book.

It will never stop because as one firm grows up and moves on another generation will take over and with society being the way it is these days it will get worse before it gets better. Most of the Villa firm these days are lads aged between 18-23 and as for the Lulus there a firm of the past living in there history of there 80's heydays. From what I've been told over the last few days the young Villa firms ran most of them all over Digbeth and I've been told this by some rather embarrassed sha fans who thought we were just a bunch of loud mouth scarves.

UTV and never let that scum get you down.

This footage shows the flare coming in from outside the ground. It is from the away end car park so yeah it was Villa who threw it.

Got to 3 mins 15 seconds.
