What actually happend?

I honestly think the WMP handling of the whole night was disgraceful. This match, as all the fans knew and stated beforehand, had the potential to be a powder-keg occasion and yet many simple things could have been done on the night which just weren't.

Yes, it is wrong to rip out seats and obviously the flare is an isolated incident. But did any seats get ripped up before the pitch invasion and the volley of urine, spit, coins and seats from above? I don't think they did. You are always going to have fans who react worse than others and the way blues were allowed on to the pitch and then so close to our fans was obviously going to draw a reaction.

All this could have been avoided by putting police around the side of the blues stands (hell, there were enough of them) and escorting the Villa fans outside and into town/Aston before Blues were let out. Instead, they let all that happen in the ground, and then let blues go back to re-group in the pubs for an hour while they kept the most pissed off fans because of the result (Villa) stand in the freezing cold (and getting even more pissed off) having all sorts rained down on us again. And then when they did let us go, they did exactly that and it was literally a free-for-all.

I mistakenly went in the town direction as I wanted to get a taxi from there to Aston and there were literally running battles all through Digbeth with no police on hand to do anything. I even heard before the game a police commander shout to a female colleague "Get over here and do your **** job!" they really didn't have a clue. Nothing was thought out in what was the biggest derby for years and half of the time I think the police actually let this stuff happen so they have something to do afterwards (sift through evidence).

Also, Villa and Blues were literally fighting each other for the full 15 minutes at half-time and Villa fans almost lifted up the shutter which would have been carnage. It took WMP 15 whole minutes to turn up - were they all having a snowball fight outside? How hard is it to figure out that a line of riot police on both sides of the segregation in the concourse would be a good idea? It's not **** rocket science, it's their job.

Those from both sides who decided to get into fights outside the ground should be punished and those that smashed up the toilets before the game for no other reason than to feel 'big' should also be punished. Those are the real 'hooligans'. But I honestly don't think much blame can be apportioned to what happened in the Villa stand after the game, bar the flare. As I say, emotion was already running high before WMP decided it was adequate to have one line of police facing our fans whilst thousands of jumping, masked youths approached the Villa end bouncing. Some people were always going to react because of how the situation was allowed to unfold, I don't think it makes them a 'hooligan' even if two wrongs don't make a right.

Some of WMP's actions on the night, to me, seem like actions designed to maximise trouble rather than minimise it. I will seriously think about going again, I didn't enjoy it at all.

, one of the worst nights of my life, I will never return to the Sty, because thats what it truly is...

It sounds like you got caught up with the wrong lot but don't let this ever put you off or anyone else for that matter from attending games at the sty.

It's been this way for generations. I was bought up in Quinton and used to listen for hours when I was a kid of storys of the Quinton Mob,Black Danny etc taking the blues pubs, the blues end etc etc as written in the Villians book.

It will never stop because as one firm grows up and moves on another generation will take over and with society being the way it is these days it will get worse before it gets better. Most of the Villa firm these days are lads aged between 18-23 and as for the Lulus there a firm of the past living in there history of there 80's heydays. From what I've been told over the last few days the young Villa firms ran most of them all over Digbeth and I've been told this by some rather embarrassed sha fans who thought we were just a bunch of loud mouth scarves.

UTV and never let that scum get you down.

I used to run with the old Quinton, brought up on Welsh House Farm Road, drinking in the Monarch, and beating Brandhall up.

Thanks for the bad memories

I'm a Welsh house boy - I lived just off Wisley Way and attended Welsh House Farm school and then Four Dwellings. I know the Monarch,Stump,Golden Cup & Punch Bowl days. Brandhall wasn't our bag tho - We used to fight Bartley Green for the Bridge over the brook on the Valley....

Great days and great memories !!! :winkold:

What I can see on the Youtube video is a pile of morons with the IQ of pond life running on the pitch to have a go at another pile of morons with the IQ of pond life in the away stand. However, this second set of morons with the IQ of pond life were surrounded by innocent football supporters who did not deserve to be subjected to the antics of morons with the IQ of pond life. I suspect that this was also the case outside the ground before and after the match.

I also saw Birmingham City FC stewards wandering around aimlessly doing absolutely nothing so what is the point of them being there. They were supported by West Midlands Police who did nothing to prevent the violence and arrested only a handful of morons with the IQ of pondlife.

What a wonderful world we live in. I am so glad we lost the World Cup bid. The rest of the world should not have to see the actions of morons with the IQ of pondlife.

i didnt realise quinton was such a villa area? i thought it was mixed

It is mixed mate but slightly more towards Villa. Alot of the main Villa lads in the 80's early 90's came out of Quinton along with Kingstanding & Erdington .

Bartley Green was more sha hence the rows between Quinton and Bartley.

Some of the posts on here are just unreal ! I don't condone any form of violence but get real here - a bunch of knuckle draggers come steaming into your face, threatening to beat the crap out of you, throwing stuff, spitting on you and more and you are supposed to do what ? Stand there and say "hey, I don't condone violence so I'll just ignore you ?".

It was heat of the moment big time, people were angry, people were scared and in those circumstances any human being will respond otherwise there is something not quite right about them.

The failing inside the ground was WMP+Nose Stewards+SHA and what Villa did in response should not be over-analysed as they found themselves in a real shite situation so unless you were there and facing those scumbags then you shouldn't judge.

Absolutely

As soon as the whistle went and the scum bags ran onto the pitch, at us I might add, there was panic with some Villa fans. People rushing down the stairs to the exit, causing some crushing.

Others, the majority, stood still and said " actually no, I am not being intimidated by these cavemen " . Those that stood their ground were pelted from above with coins, and from the pitch. Standing your ground is human nature, and I for one blame the low life animals from accross the city for this.

No, any person who got involved in any violent shape of form should be banned for life. As I saw the seats being thrown, I was ashamed to call myself a villa fan

Back in the early 1980s, I went to Ipswich with my best mate and was jumped on the way from the station by four low-lifes who knocked my mate to the floor with a drop-kick from behind that left him injured. Despite the odds, I lashed out at everyone who got near to protect my mate and to protect myself.

When the police arrived, I was carted off along with one of the scum who attacked us - the others legged it. I got off with a warning but by your standards I'm a criminal and should be banned from Villa matches ...... is that right ?!!!
