Pass accuracy is such a shit stat.

Bannan accuracy vs: 85%

Cabaye accuracy vs: 64%

Obviously Bannan is better right? STATS

Bannan had better passing accuracy.

Cabaye had the better shot on goal.

Kid?

Hendrie created, scored and was a dirty pest.

Bannan does none of them 3 things. Easy to get good passing accuracy when all your passes are sideways or backwards.

Only thing he has incommon with Hendrie is he likes to drive cars after getting on it.

Hendrie scored about 3 times a season - **** all really. He created next to nothing as his passing was absolutely atrocious, he couldn't even play short passes without giving it away to the opposition.

Bannan plays the ball forward more than any other midfielder we have and completes most of those passes, even the 'Hollywood balls' bollocks that gets vomited it out by some.

Hendrie was shit and you're way off the mark.

Football is played on a pitch, not on an Excel Spreadsheet.

That's frighteningly simplistic. The spreadsheet collects the factual information about what happened in the game - so when some gurner says 'HE GAVE DA BALL AWAY ALL DA TIME' . there is a handy bank of stats to contravene said dribbling statement.

The point is that passing accuracy by itself is a meaningless stat. It's a descriptive stat, as useful as saying that someone scored a goal or an assist. There's no context or analysis of it so when Bannan has an 85% passing accuracy compared to Cabaye's 64% passing accuracy, it's absolutely stupid to say, "Well, Bannan is the better passer."

Nobody has said that. You did. Don't put words into our mouths, literally by quoting an imaginary statement.

It can only be said Bannan was a more accurate passer in that game. That's a fact. To say anything else you need to look deeper.

Ultimately, who is the "better passer" depends on how you define "better".

Does better mean:

1. Is more creative when passing: provides more "key passes" and assists. Cabaye has 1 assist and 20 key passes, Bannan has 1 assist and 30 key passes.

2. Has a higher accuracy across the whole range of passing techniques (e.g. short, long, crossing). Up to game 23, Cabaye was 80%, 62%, 32%. Bannan was 80%, 65%, 46%.

3. Is better over 1 season rather than over 1 game or 20 games. In this case, we will have to wait until the end of the season to know who is the better passer.

4. Is better for the system you want to play. Leon Britton has no assists and just 5 key passes but he is a very important player for the Swansea team due to his passing accuracy alone, which is over 90%.

Right now given the choice between Cabaye and Bannan I'd have Cabaye in my team, even though he is currently passing less accurately. Cabaye has a good long shot, is 4 years older and has more experience of big matches. There is no reason Bannan cannot be better than Cabaye in future if he keeps working at his game.

There is a difference of passing it to clark or vlaar then actually doing something with it. Everytime he is up against someone he always loses. Honestly, he is one of the problems with this team and if you still hold by him then good for you. I on the other hand would rather let guzan play his role then let him take one more step on villa park.

He doesn't pass backward all the time. It's a myth. A new one, since nobody is allowed the "hollywood ball" this year, since he has improved his long ball accuracy.

Delph and El Ahmadi pass backwards about 45% time. Bannan and Westwood pass backwards 34% time.

You would literally play Guzan in that role or saying it to dis Bannan?

It's not literally true "Everytime he is up against someone he always loses". Last night he registered a successful dribble.

He's not a good tackler. But if you want to judge him on tackling, you might as well start your complaint with he doesn't win enough headers.
