thats the problem zatman - mancini was supposedly hanging by a thread at the end of last season, how much time to gel will he actually get? followed by new manager new players same problem (everything crossed anyway)

real madrid have signed pedro leon for £8.5m, dont know too much about him, no doubt a dream move, not convinced he'll play but jose may think he'll add balance to ronaldo

Manchester City agree £17m deal with Lazio for Aleksandar Kolarov

!!! Mourinho was sniffing around him first at Inter and then at Réal. If that's a gauge then they might have got themselves a player.

Yeah kind of agree, don't know the player but Mourinho tends to be a good judge (with the odd exception) so would seem City have made a good signing.

Looks like they are finally turning their attention to that defence as well.

Piquionne to West Ham

Good signing for them. Grant will know him well. Should complement Carthorse quite well.

PIQUIONNE IN HAMMERS MEDICAL

Skysports.com understands Frederic Piquionne is undergoing a medical at West Ham ahead of his move to Upton Park.

As revealed by skysports.com last month West Ham have been leading the chase for the former Portsmouth forward.

Lyon forward Piquionne impressed at Fratton Park last season with 11 goals despite their relegation from the Premier League and he has expressed a desire to return to England

A number of clubs, including West Brom, Fulham and Blackburn had been chasing Piquionne, but West Ham are closing in on his signature after agreeing a fee with Lyon for his services.

The 31-year-old is expected to sign a three-year deal at West Ham if he successfully comes through his medical and could become their second signing of the summer following Thomas Hitzlsperger.

Hammers boss Avram Grant is keen to be reunited with Piquionne having worked with him at Portsmouth last season and it looks like he is set to finally land his man.

Cracking signing for them, didn't realize he was that old though.

The cynic in me thinks that a Piquionne on a signed 3 year deal might not be quite the player that a Piquionne who was on a loan deal playing for a permanent deal was last season. If you want to know why we hadn't heard of him until he was 30 years old then that might be one of the reasons.

I'm with you on that one.

my blues mate reckons they do it all the time, they try and sign a neymar for £15m which looks great on paper but then when it comes down to the tiny details of the deal (the ones that the red tops dont get told about) they **** about something chronic

to the average fan it looks like the club did everything right and the player was an asshole being greedy or something, but the club is ambitious and going in the right direction so lets buy some tickets

I'm not as cynical because he would have never have been signed for Lyon if he was like that
It's easier to be signed than to stick around. It was Lyon who sent him out on loan. After all, they did sign Baros from us :)

I watched the League Cup final of 2005 yesterday on ESPN Classic (taking a break from golf, naturally) and Baros really was the ultimate one tournament wonder.

Eh he's not that bad actually, still first choice forward for the Czech national side and more importantly top scorer in Turkey during the 08-09 season. No Torres obviously but not Jason Scotland either.

IIRC Piquinnone was voted the worst signing in the french league the season he signed for Lyon, his attitude apparently stinks.
