I could be completely ignorant but I felt that the last recession was not as bad as folk made out, I dont know any one that lost a job in what supposedly was the one of the worst recessions for a long time.

I lost my job for 6 months so there's one for you

Sorry to hear that - Hope you found one after.

Yeah, I got my old job back once things picked up! I was self employed at the time but now changed to 'permie' to be better prepared should the worst happen. Mentally and financially I couldn't do it again.

Seriously, what last recession? A few point percentiles of growth are neither here nor there, this economic disaster is still very much with us and is likely to get worse - see EU, Ireland etc. thread.

Worst since the 1930's, FACT.

I think its a lot of hype and I cant dont think the ecconomy will be as bad as it was a few years back.

It already has been worse. You seriously don't have scooby, do you?

myself and my follow directors took salary cuts in order to assure that nobody lost their job

Not cut back on the travel expenses though..;)

Yes, his travelling is legendary. I assumed it was all paid for out of post-tax take-home pay, though.

we are in manufacturing and were as busy now as we have ever been, the building trade directly affects us to as jcb and cat are our main customers so if the builders are buying machines then were supplying more to cat/jcb

we have a good supply chain from china in place and also we had alot of investment so we have some of the latest cnc machinery so we can compete, touch wood things are looking good.

Thats why I mean the media portray a completely different picture.

Most people who I know or have heard about who have lost a job have found a job weeks after.

It's you don't have a scooby, not you don't have scooby, which would be an odd and meaningless phrase.

East End rhyming slang, though in this example, heard more in the east end of Glasgow than London.

Scooby Doo = clue.

Keyboard chewed by puppy about 6 months ago so "a" and "i" now both a bit temperamental - leading to "odd and meaningless" posts.

The dog ate my homework?

I'd have thought you were a little old for that now? Can't you just get back to slandering Risso for working in financial services? ;)

Oh, ok. Financial "services". The foundation of a sound economy.
