Going back to where it feels like it started with Macheda in 2010 (*Edit Turns out i hadn't gone back far enough for the other Macheda 3-2 game in 2009 but that wasn't a 2 goal lead anyway)

2023/24 - Utd 2-3 & Brentford 3-3

14 times we have failed to win from being 2 goals up against recovering from 2 down 5 times. 6 Games Lost & 0 Won

Pretty sure we won vs Luton recently after being up 2, conceding twice then Digne winner.

The most startling thing about this is the amount we’ve lost from 2 goals up but then absolutely no wins from 2 goals down.

The most recent instance I can think of us winning from two goals down was Southampton away in 2005.  Can anyone recall this happening more recently?

Looks like i missed one of the West Brom games that we actually won in my original list. As far as i can see after going back through every PL season this every game that we have been 2 down in and ended up winning.

98/99 Arsenal 3-2
99/00 Spurs 4-2
00/01 Coventry 3-2
04/05 Southampton 3-2
13/14 West Brom 4-3

Think there may be some crossed wires here. I wasn't saying we're bad at holding onto 2-0 leads, and especially this season we've been on the whole very good. My point was that the number of times we have been 2-0 up and thrown it away in the Premier League era does seem rather high.

What's certain is no one has done it v one opponent as we have v Man. United in the last 30 years. Chelsea threw away a 2-0 lead to them and still found a way to win that (somehow) in a way we just can't against them when the momentum swings all in their favour.

Watkins calling out in the post match again. Rightly so. Kind of thing which will motivate him to leave if we keep doing it. Doesn't want to keep playing with losers and bottlers. We're a very insecure side incapable of learning.

That might seem a bit harsh....and I am not going to agree with it.

but I must confess, this team at times, is playing in to the hands of those who think we are.

Thank god, Ollie showed the necessary aggression and talent, to bail us out, from an embarrassing result.

Honestly the whole thing surrounding this this season is weird. We've gone 2-0 up and not won thrice this season, yet we're having our best season in decades. Furthermore, all of the 7 points we've dropped from winning positions (a very low total compared to most teams) have been from two goals up. Not once have we gone only a goal up this season and not won.
