I've seen him play a number of times at under 19"s and reserve level. Gary is a more technically gifted version of his brother Craig. He's also bigger, a bit quicker and more controlled temperamentally. Like Craig he has a good shot on him (with both feet) and his shots tend to hit the target. He is good running with the ball, and he takes a mean free kick. He always wants the ball, and doesn't go missing in matches. I don't know how his injuries will have affected his abilities, but sending him out on loan will soon reveal whether he can get back to his best. If he can, we've got a good prospect. Cheers, thanks. To me it has mattered less and less what formation we line up in. We always morph into two undisciplined blobs. If the opponent has the ball, our center mids have to cover the flanks because our spacing isn't correct and two strikers play up top very removed from the midfield. If we have the ball, our strikers stand five feet next to each other while Westwood and Delph pass it around nowhere near the box. Our fullbacks receive the ball really isolated and just look for a way to pass it back. Rinse and repeat. Unless we transition quickly, our formations turn into both of those.

3 full years is what I would always give him. I stick by that even if it's as ugly as it is right now.

To be fair, I don't remember the last time we had a through ball that wasn't on the counter for anyone on the team. Westwood to Gabby at Norwich last year I think?

I would probably take out Westwood in terms of intelligence. He's one of our only players that can play a first time pass forwards. He just sucks at being a defensive mid. A lot like Joe Allen. Useful in some games but hardly aan every day starter

Baker doesn't have the mental capacity to play a high line. He is a see ball, tackle ball player. Watch the WH game again and you'll see Baker is all over the place. Trying to spring offsides (which is good in theory against a slow front line) but unable to do so. Getting bullied and out positioned by the likes of Cole. When's the last time you even saw Baker make an interception. Clark would be okay paired with anyone mildly competent. But pair him with Baker it's two goals waiting to happen

Fulham are done. Cardiff can't defend. Norwich can't score and have a murderous run in. I think there's enough of a buffer that we don't go down but ultimately another disappointing season

Carroll is the ideal opponent for Baker. Big, dumb, and slow. They match up well. All we have to do is score I think.
