  1. It most certainly is - I lived up there four years and would thoroughly recommend it for anyone who hasnt been out there before. The Wigan match for me is a train journey there and back on the same day though I'm afraid!
  2. Gosh I hadn't realised Albrighton wasn't mentioned. Terrible exclusion if true! That's my birthday too! High five! Wait a minute, you're not my brother are you? What year?? Ah, you live in Nuneaton so you aren't my brother *phew*. 1980, a vintage year 8) Oh quite a few years before me than. We can still be Aug 1st bro-chums though
  3. There are much better guides on GameFaqs than the official guide, especially if you're doing a 100% run, or some other 'challenge'. Unless you want to see the pretty pictures. Which there aren't that many of. I had the official guide, cos I got stuck when first playing the game. Bet you can't guess where I got stuck. You won't guess, so I will tell you. Sector 6, Midgar. After leaving Aerith's house and not telling her, and she magics herself in front of you so you have to take her to Wall Market. That little part before the play area, there's some contruction equipment and stuff doted around. You have to walk up a thin plank or something to reach a higher level. Now, I was only about 12 at the time, and having only just advanced to that gen of consoles, I just COULD NOT see how to get up to that higher bit. I was walking 'under' the plank and trying to go up, instead of starting at the end of it that was on the 'floor'. Didn't touch it for about 6 weeks cos of that. Then I FINALLY figured it out Wonderful. Things went from bad to worse though I was approaching the end of disc 2, when one of my friends came round with his memory card. He was on disc 3 and was doing the fighing tournament thing in Wonder Square to get Clouds level 4 limit break. WHEN HE WENT TO SAVE THE GAME HE AUTOMATICALLY CLICKED SLOT ONE WITHOUT THINKING AND OVERWROTE MY SAVE. My first game was gone forever. I started it again a few weeks later, which was kind of good as I knew what to expect (up to a point)
  4. No Benty in the Euros then? That's my birthday too! High five! Wait a minute, you're not my brother are you? What year??
  5. Yeh being on the world map for the first time is a great moment. One of my favourites in the game probably, when they're all gathered there outside Midgar, out on the search for ol' Sephy... Naw. If memory serves all it had in it was a little art book, some stickers, a soundtrack, special case...no exclusive DLC or anything.
  6. It's a shame we only take the larger amounts of overpayments all the way to court. I see very very few debtors who have been prosecuted, unfortunately. Compensation orders are also far more rare than they should be. Problem being our fraud investigators know damn well if any overpayment is below £10k it probably won't be taken up by our solicitors, so if the debtor never accepts that the money was gained by fraudulent means we have treat the barrrrstuds exactly the same as the ones that are genuine mistakes. Unless we have evidence, like those ones you see on the news where "Mr. Unable to walk more than 2 feet without aid" is filmed being the lineo at the his local sunday league match They're few and far between too though
  7. Can't remember if you mentioned it in this thread - did you play XIII? It isn't required, theres a thing you can read to catch up on the story, but I can't imagine playing XIII-2 without having played XIII first. The story is pretty much a direct continuation, with characters from XIII popping up every now and again, and some of the relationships being critical to the story in XIII-2. Plus, if you like XIII you'll love XIII-2 - if you didn't you probably won't like XIII-2 either, although there are some improvements. It's a better sequel than X-2 was, put it that way... Only played VII & VIII. Should i start with XIII first? Probably get that for next to nothing now. Yeh I would start with XIII. That way if you don't like the way it plays at least you wouldnt have wasted as much money as you wouldve jumping straight into XIII-2, which I guess is still at full retail price?
  8. Just saw mention of this game on another forum I frequent, and man it was terrific. I will have to fire up a ROM sometime soon
  9. Over payment thereof and the extraction of said overpayment from the poor unfortunates.....? Oh yes. Used to just be for those on benefit, ie. we'd recoup all owed monies via deductions from what ever benefits the individual would have in pay. Now though I do both on and off benefit, so for those we can't take what ever we want UGH SORRY what the debtor can afford from benefits, we send charlie and boys round with a baseball bat. Or something. It used to surprise me how often people would mention to me things that I could relate to the work I do, that being overpaid benefits, and benefits in general - it was a genuine shock to discover that the knowledge I have and take completely for granted, that I consider to be 'just work', can sometimes actually be really useful.
  10. I was never much of a magic user in FFVII, apart from cure. It's quite amusing when you hear people say the FFXIII battle system is terrible when you can go through the majority of all FF games just bashing x anyway Can't remember if you mentioned it in this thread - did you play XIII? It isn't required, theres a thing you can read to catch up on the story, but I can't imagine playing XIII-2 without having played XIII first. The story is pretty much a direct continuation, with characters from XIII popping up every now and again, and some of the relationships being critical to the story in XIII-2. Plus, if you like XIII you'll love XIII-2 - if you didn't you probably won't like XIII-2 either, although there are some improvements. It's a better sequel than X-2 was, put it that way...
  11. YES FINALLY something I can genuinely contribute to, if the need arises. Time to pull out the ol' serious hat *ahem* My area of expertise are welfare benefits, specifically overpayments thereof. So if anyone ever has one, or knows someone who has one, I'm yer man. The real proper CAB can offer advice in these respects too, but given my deep seated hatred for them, I wouldnt advise it. I am much nicer right
  12. The best place to level limit breaks early in the game is just after the Midgar Zolom, that little cave bit. One of the monsters outside Midgar gives you Matra Magic enemy skill, which attacks all, and in that cave you can encounter I think 6? little worm things which you can take out with one attack with Matra Magic. Gives your six kills off the bat and you can get all your limit breaks real quick.
  13. We don't believe you. Neither do I seeing as his name was Sam Gorman from Droitwich... unless that's you? ;-) No, no it wasnt me. I just made something up to be cool cos I suck at everything
  14. Don't think it's been mentioned on here, and it's a little late anyways really - seeing as the demo is out tomorrow anyway (I think) - but there has been early access to the demo available on Xbox since the weekend if you do this little ME app thingy on facebook. Havent bothered myself, but know a fair few who were playing it that way over the weekend
  15. Well, I got a free foam hand and the streaker was the single most hilarious moment I have ever experienced at VP thus far. The cartwheels hahahahahahahahaaaaa.... oh yeh we lost, nevermind.
  16. Are these games actually even half decent now? I remember a good few years ago, what ever iteration of the game was released that year, was one of the most awful footballing games everrrrrrrrr. Mightve been the first one? on PS2
  17. hahaha awwww. That mascot in the blue was sitting in front of me, he was a Villa fan
  18. KEYBLADE is that a Kingdom Hearts reference Whoever thought a Final Fantasy & Disney crossover would actually work. Good games. Not my favourite though
  19. I received Gareth's mixtape CD in the post yesterday. It is adorned with a wonderful image of Stefan Postma on the front, and to my surprise an image of the act itself covers the CD. Havent listened to it yet though
  20. Nice Refn is getting major plaudits for Drive, wonderful director. The Pusher trilogy is fantastic, especially so if you like your crime dramas. And then there's Valhalla Rising - what a trip So how do you feel about students?
  21. That's where my user name is from Was making my first ever online gaming account for Dreamcast to play Phantasy Star Online, and had been playing that on PS1. The has stuck ever since. Good game.
  22. Ha that enormously long tracking shot of the traffic jam in Weekend is woooonderful
  23. HEY someone in this thread is playing it for the first time, that emu has got SPOILERS ON IT! Stevo is at somewhat of an advantage having bought it off PSN though, as he won't get the case, which has ENORMOUS SPOILERS PLASTERED ALL OVER THE BACK OF IT. All the way through the game I was waiting for it to happen, by the time it actually did I was quite relieved, which I don't think is quite what the developers intended for one of the most iconic scenes in video gaming history
  24. Tell them about the bit when you can get Katherine to send saucy texts and pics (not nudz boo) and then you can go into the toilet in bar and have a wank over them, that'll get them interested
