  3. Wow, really? Erm, OK, the Heskey out part ofc.
  4. An announcement??? I love announcements!!! The mystery, the intrigue, the not knowing until the spectacular reveal?!?! I wonder if you will be sitting in my block. My guess is................they will be in the same place as last season.
  5. This one. Top of Station Road #someonehadtosayit
  6. Trst are you preparing a thesis about the socio-demographic of Birmingham or something? You love makin these kinda threads, man All I remember about so-lee-hull is that it had some nice shops and it didn't seem much like Birmingham to me. Although they did sound Brummy. Which makes me wonder...where do people start to sound Brummy? How east of Brum do you have to get. They don't sound Brummy where I live...how bout that, Trst?
  7. Hit hmm not so much. word removed punt tbh. Or I might get her in a Thai clinch and deliver some knees to the ovaries hey a rhyme
  8. It's very similar, but is full of lots of over sentimentality, and nowhere near as much gruesome death as BR. I also got the over-riding impression that the purpose of the story was to demonstrate how brave the characters were to overcome adversity, and for love to blossom despite the goings on (it is a 'young adult' novel/s after all)...wereas BR was just tragic, really, and carried an underlying commentary on Japanese society and world politics. It also differs in the way that the story of HG only follows the main character, so what she doesnt witness, the viewer doesnt witness. Ergo, you miss some of the most interesting 'battles' as the story just tells you that this person fought that person, and one won, and the other died. BR lets us know exactly what happened in all it's bloody glory though. yay!
  9. Big up the Nuneaton posse boiiiiiiiiiiiiii *ahem* On-topic - Wal-Mart are now atop the rumour mill in the 'who will buy GAME group' stakes, followed by Comet (or the owners of) and Gamestop, who have publically stated their interested in the Spanish arm of Game. GAME group would apparently cost £15m to buy all in, which is considered as 'pocket change' for Wal-Mart, who would look to keep stores open rather than rebuild the brand from scratch.
  10. Ah Entertainment Exchange. Yeah that shop used to be fantastic, then I went in it recently and it was just horribly depressing. I know right. It can't possibly stay open for much longer, goodness only knows how long it's stayed open for this long. I havent been in there for ages actually, might pop my head in the door tomorrow for old times sake as I finish work early.
  11. I've applied for promotion and could be working in Coventry or Brum if I get it. Which wouldnt necessarily mean needed to relocate, but if I got it I think I would. Also applied for transfer to Liverpool last year (went to uni for 4 years there), and was prepared to move...didn't get it though.
  12. With the impending release of The Hunger Games, and PR machine in full flow (BBC breakfast slot this morning), could it signal the often talked about US remake of Battle Royale? Honestly I never thought the yanks would touch anything like it, given the national psyche correlates kids killing kids to Columbine, et al. If HG is a commercial success though, I don't see why a production company wouldnt take on BR - a few cuts to the gore here and there sure, but it is in effect a very similar story, bringing down the oppressive overseers, and a love story running throughout. Not that I particularly want to see a remake of BR, but it seems more possible now than it did a few years ago. And why stop there? A remake of The Running Man anyone? There's already a film adaptation of The Maze Runner on the way, why not Uglies or The Long Walk too? Haven't got round to that in my Herzog box set yet. Looking forward to it. What a wonderful investment that was. I implore anyone who has not seen most of Herzog's work to get it, it's fantasssstic. I went to one of the first showings of Cave of Forgotten Dreams last year, and he was there for a Q&A session afterwards. Wonderful chap. I think I'll read all your posts with his voice in my head from now on mooney

    Journey

I posted about it in the 2012 gaming thread. It's really really wonderful. I kind of liked Flower, but honestly found it a little boring. Journey offers alot more in terms of gameplay, atmosphere, and art style. Oh and the soundtrack is just fantastic aswell. If you liked Flower you will adore this. I finished it a couple of times last week, first online and then offline in an attempt to get all the glyphs and unlock the white cloak. Didn't manage it though, I assume some of them must be reaaaally well hidden away. Given that some levels you don't really want to explore as there are other pressing matters at hand (one 'dark' level in particular comes to mind, I'm sure those who have finished it know what I mean), it's highly unlikely you'd stumble upon all of them in the first few plays anyway. So yeh as much as I agree it is a high price given it's length, there is replayability (also the idea of helping out a new player is a nice one), so the price is well worth it for me
  14. Mass Effect ! PS3? Valkyria Chronicles! It's a kind of turn based strategic 3rd person shooter RPG set in an alternate WWII era mainland Europe, with a handrawn/anime art style which is just gorgeous. One of the best games on PS3 and not one that seems to get an awful lot of praise Yeh, havent touched Skyrim for a good couple of months. Just stopped playing it. Like so many other games, it just happens when you get something new, doesnt it? Might get round to starting it again some day, never did finish the main story
  15. Yeh, I completed the interior of the North and most of the Doug. I mentioned about 'compromise' earlier in the thread, and basically that's what it came down to. It's in NO WAY accurate to the real thing at all, but what you can do is walk into the stand through a 'turnstile', go up the stairs (I actually built a water lift too ) to the seats, go to a box, which are fitted with a table/chair/bar, etc. and I built the reception in the North Stand too, although that was just guess work really. I'll have to post some pics, can't at the mo though as I'm at work. And yeh, the road is 'above' the pitch on the Lower Trinity side. I know that part of the ground very well as it's were my season ticket is, so in theory I should be able to replicate that part better than the rest...if/when I get round to it...
  16. Gamestation used to have a pretty nice retro section, but that went out the window years back. My local indy games shop doesnt really have any games in it anymore, but only a couple of years ago they were stocking everything from current gen back to megadrive and snes. And what thanks do they get? Well, now they have literally a handful of computer games, DVDs, books, and CD/records. It's basically a nicely stocked charity shop without the charity Sad though, it was a staple of a walk through town after school at one time, seeing the new releases, whats in the bargain bucket, playing on the consoles in store...I guess those days are gone now, and never to return
  17. Yeh I see your point, but in regards to benefit fraud, and only benefit fraud, as I said, there's no harm in it at all, from my perspective. I know the system well enough that if I did shop a family member/friend and they ended up owing a shed load of money, I could tell them what to do/say so that they would pay off the bare minimum possible for life, if anything at all. Loadsa monaayyyy To which you may respond, what would be the point in shopping someone if they werent going to pay it back anyway? Well, I would be safe in the knowledge that from then on they would be paid what they are due, which, shock horror, is quite an important issue for me. They wouldnt have a criminal record, they wouldnt have any CCJs or anything like that against their name, and they would be able to continue claiming benefits if they had to. And what impact would this have with my relationship with that person? Well I wouldn't just do it without telling them, of course I would discuss it with them. All of my family members and friends know what my line of work is, and I have had very frank discussions with the few of them that claim/have claimed benefits, in regard to what they should or shouldnt be doing whilst claiming. I think it's safe to say that if I didn't do what I do for a job, my view point and repsonse to this hypothetical situation would be quite different.
  18. I don't really see what the problem is about 'shopping' family members in regard to benefit fraud. All that'll happen is they'll have to pay back what they werent supposed to have (probably not all of it (think of it as an interest free loan)), and then they will be paid what they are entitled to - if anything at all. Even if they are taken in by Fraud, they can sign an administrative penalty, meaning they wouldnt have any action taken against them in the courts, at the cost of owing an extra 1/3 (at the moment) of what they already owe. From my perspective loyalty and 'blood' doesn't really come in to it at all.
  19. Worse team I've seen this year (and they still took points off of us...), so would be happy to see them go. Said they same about Blackburn last year, but would actually quite like them to stay up this time around. Wolves/Wigan/QPR down.
  20. ths so true i went swansea & wigan away and was close to the drummer both times and i just laffed at them, we will be playing music when we score next even though that does work for bayern munich Or worse still - the announcer saying the first name of the player starting/the scorer, and leaving the crowd to fill in the blank for the surname :| Remember when they tried that last season? I forget which game it was, but...utter crumble. Everyone just looked at each other as if to say...wuuuuh?
  21. Ah - my area of expertise Fill it in, man I work in the recovery of benefit overpayments, which includes fraud. How long has the suspected fraud been going on for? If the total amount of the benefits incorrectly paid to the individual is less than £5k it is highly unlikely it would go to court, unless theyre a repeat offender. If the individual never admits wrongdoing, or is not convicted in court, we can't classify the overpayment as fraud - officially speaking, it's a 'mistake'. Point being, if you're worried about dobbing someone in and they'll eventually be carted off down to the old bailey or something, that is hiiiiighly unlikely. The most probable course of events would be that the individual would be called into their local office for an interview, to see if they wanted to tell us anything, like they forgot to tell us when they could start walking properly again. If they did tell us something at that interview, great, we'd calculate an overpayment from the time the said they were better/were working when shouldnt have been/etc. if not then the investigators would try to conjure up some evidence to the contrary of what they were told, hold an interview under caution, and see if the claimant accepts liability. This is the part on those shows when they show the individual a video of them doing a marathon when theyre supposed to be confined to a wheelchair or something. At some point thereafter they would get a letter from us telling them how much they owe. If they continue to claim benefit we would take it straight from that. It's also important to bear in mind that your ability to claim benefits can not be rescinded, even if found guilty of benefit fraud and jailed. Your ability to claim or payments whilst claiming can be sanctioned, but the soc' can't just say 'SORRY YOUVE BEEN TO NAUGHTY NO MORE DOLE FOR YOU'. At least not yet. In short - don't let any reservations or worries about repercussions you might have put you off shopping someone. It's anonymous so they won't know who did it, you'd only have to live with the guilt yourself like
