  1. Yeah, I've mentioned this a few times on here before but late 80's I was a HUGE Metallica fan. I think the run of Kill em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets (by far their best album and one I still listen to) was phenomenal. I saw them multiple times live and to this day they are the only band I've ever travelled abroad to see play live (in Paris). I think for me, the cracks started to show with Justice for All. Some very good tracks (Blackened, One, Harvester of Sorrow) but the overall direction of more technical compositions, coupled with a lack of 'edge' and the loss of Cliff Burton (the effect of which cannot be overstated enough) just meant I started to lose a bit of interest. When Enter Sandman came out, I wasn't really impressed. It sounded way too over produced (thanks Bob) and yet again lacked more bite than anything from Justice or before. Still, it was only one track so decided to keep my powder dry on the album. My mates and I travelled to Nottingham for a 'First UK Listen' of the Black album and my response was less than enthusiastic. I remember distinctly loving Sad but True and Nothing Else Matters also stood out (for obvious reasons) but everything else just failed to make an impression. I saw them 4/5 times when they toured the album and pretty much every time they played something from the Black album I zoned out. I listened to 'Load' a few times when that was released (hated it) and every time they've released anything since I've given it a go, but whatever they had that ignited my original passion for them has unfortunately evaporated. They'll always have a special place in my musical journey but I can't reconcile the corporate juggernaut they are today with the fierce, fearless and exciting riff machine that I fell in love with.
  2. As amusing as it would be to see him flounder and fail at yet another club, I would rather he never 'earned' another penny in football again. Terrible manager and let's face it, not exactly a nice bloke.
  3. Here you go Mike. From Wikipedia: I know it's not your thing at all ofc, but theres many bands who have that style that i enjoy immensely
  4. Fortune tellers and Mediums will be first against the wall in D1 world. Horrible, cancerous chancers the lot of em.
  5. I think its fantastic tbh. As I mentioned earlier, I've barely had to use the parry and I've made it a fair bit into the game without it. The dodge mechanic is poor until you get the double dodge, no disagreement there. The initial dodge distance is ridiculously small. Some of the enemies do have very erratic attacks (wind ups are difficult to judge and that's if they even have one) but again it's nothing you don't get used to. The world and art design is kinda beautiful, they've also done a nice job on the shortcuts and making sure the whole world feels like a continuous entity instead of cobbled together areas. I also love the weapon choices (which actually feel and play differently) and the handle swapping gives it another welcome option to play around with different styles and effects. Yeah, I like it a lot so far.
  6. Oh god, I would never, EVER knowingly listen to Manowar - utter trash. These lot are more melodic Thrash/Death. I like them a lot.
  7. With thanks to @sne for reminding me this had come out. The Coffinshakers - Graves, release your dead. Flippin' superb.
  8. I'm level 50 and have barely used parry tbh. I use block quite a bit, but rolling and back dodge have been my go to for evasion. You can upgrade dodge after the first section of the game and that can help too.
  9. Really enjoying it. One of the best Soulsborne games I've played in a while. It's tough as nails tbh, but very satisfying.
  10. There's a terrifically apt line in 12 Angry Men which goes: "He can't hear you. And he never will".
  11. This thread is amazing, depressing and hilarious all at once.
  12. Yeah I remember it. It was former poster @Sie who debunked absolutely everything thrown at him by the non-believers and in the end they had to admit defeat.
  13. 'The Moon Landings were fake' has been debunked so many times I'm amazed anyone still has the slightest bit of doubt.
  14. Saw this last night... Enjoyed it. I'd imagine if you liked the other two of Branaghs outings as Poirot you'll get something from this. It has a darker tone, a more streamlined story (less main characters which allows more focus on the overall narrative) and is beautifully shot and well directed (by Branagh). Good stuff.
  15. It was on at my local cinemas this week Chris. They have quite the cult following so still do pretty good numbers. It's also reviewed pretty well (they usually get panned). I had a chat with the director of the original film many years ago. Decent bloke tbh.
  16. Superb and very hard hitting drama, based around the true story of Paul Connolly who along with many others suffered horrific abuse at St Leonards Children's home in the 70s. A difficult watch at times, but a brilliant film nonetheless, anchored by a terrific performance from Michael Socha (This is England, The Gallows Pole).
  17. Lies of P Baldurs Gate 3 Gat out of Hell (decided to finally finish off the Plat after recently Platting Saints Row 3). Plenty of good stuff on the go at the moment
  18. Always preferred this to the original tbh.
