  1. Got to say aside from some of the mentioned teams we're not doing as well as we could have hoped for if you look at the last 20yrs
  2. Demographically I'd say the Yorkshire clubs have underachieved, there's a few from that region and it's been a while since any have had any sustained period of being at the top
  3. I wonder what the figure would be for the number of atoms in the known Universe, I know there's more stars in it than there are grains of sand on Earth, so there'd be a lot of zeros on the end of that figure
  4. Just read that the most distant galaxy yet discovered has been photographed from the Hawaaian Keck observatory. The image is as the galaxy appeared 13.1 billion years ago as that is how long the light has taken to reach us, however it is now 30 billion light years away. This must mean that the the expansion is faster than the speed of light, pretty mind blowing!
  5. I spent a few months of the summer in these countries. I was at first in Sofia then heading to Veliko Tarnovo before finally heading to Thessaloniki. Bulgaria despite being in the EU is a complete culture shock, it has fantastic untouched scenery, and if you don't mind the communist style architecture, some great cities. One ugly but interesting aspect of the country is the social make-up, there are more nice cars to be seen in Sofia than in London. There is a massive disparity between rich and poor there, there is no middle class at all. They either drive or be driven around in AMG Mercs or go about their daily business looking for scraps in bins. Have any of the VT crew been there or want to go there? I'd definitely recommend a visit as it's a not the regular kind of predictable place to go to, it's definitely an eye opener. Thessaloniki was mint for the night life also Edit: Never seen a better array of stunning girls than in these two countries either, 10 out of 10 lasses all over the place
  6. Could see Poyet really fired up after that, guarantee his heart told him to celebrate in front of the fans but his head told him to walk down the tunnel and not emulate Di Canio in any way shape or form
  7. Is Word and Excel windows only? Is Ubuntu an OS?
  8. I've had various issues on my PC from viruses where I've had to download my operating system and start afresh a few times. I don't see this as a problem as it doesn't take too long and I haven't got any important documents saved to it, I pretty much use it entirely for watching streams of football. Anyway, everything is working OKish at the minute, it takes me a few attempts to load the internet but once it does everything works fast. The one thing that has happened since yesterday is I can't get any sound through my audio devices. Is this because of a virus? If it is I'll just download windows again, has anyone got any ideas?
  9. I would bet my last penny that Lambert would want a player as good as Barry in the team but was put off by his wage demands. You can blame Lerner for that. Bargain basement - that's where Villa shop these days. Lerner cant surely be blamed for Barry being on 110k a week Man City were supposedly prepared to pay his wages
  10. had a few Anyway, moving again soon to work on the renewables in Grimsby, guarantee I'll be able to easily find the crazy weekends I miss there
  11. 8-10 years ago was to get as crazy as a mofo on MDMA around a mates outbuilding listening to some gifted dj mate on the decks whilst chatting stuff no-one really understood. Nowadays it's so tame I start to wonder what is the point of weekends, how times have changed!
  12. Anyway another thing that really pissed me off happened today. My Dad is a disability badge holder because of his Alpha 1 Deficiency as the background to this story. We arrived at the local Budgens store to get our take-out curry meal and all the disability spaces were taken so we parked elsewhere. I stayed in the car whilst he got our meal. I could see him before he got back in the car, his face didn't look too positive so I asked if he was OK, he said 'did you see me chatting with that fellow' me 'no' my dad 'I saw him going to the disabled cars and asked him if he was disabled, he said he was, I then asked him where was his badge, then he put his face to mine and told me to **** off-three times' me 'what's his car?' my dad 'Rover 75, but he quickly left after before I could photo his plate' If he was still there I would have happily knocked him out in broad daylight. We've all parked in disabled spots no doubt but the disrespect of the bloke is unreal. I was so **** angry and still am if I think about it. Hopefully I'll meet up with him one day
  13. If it is true with regards to the Barry saga it's a massive mistake, Barry to me is one of Villa's best recent player and to me at least a bit of a legend. He'd probably have had a big impact on our team, not only because he's a great midfielder, but because he would undoubtedly have the club close to his heart. He would therefore be fantastic to have in the dressing room. Big mistake by Lambert if that is true. Anyway there's mixed reaction to the game we had today, a game which I didn't see so I'm still in support that Lambert is a good man for the job
  14. Keeps the volume down too as you're guaranteed to just silently hit the ceramic, useful for not waking people up
  15. Just been over at my Dad's place for a few days, anyway the thing that pisses me off is whenever I watch Villa or the football afternoons with him it always seems to jinx our results. I can't remember the last time Villa won when I was with him, doesn't help he's a United fan so when ever we are head to head the result is familiar
  16. There are just over 3,500,000 letters in the Bible, so winning the lotto is the equivalent of picking a precise letter out of 4 Bibles. Winning the Euromillions is the equivalent to doing the same feat in about 32 and a half Bibles!
  17. The motives of the gutter press, and their interest in this, is surely not the main point. Sometimes they happen to latch on to this kind of thing, and the extra interest can be useful, but their narrow and self-serving agenda is not the point. Going over it, for some people is unhelpful and they prefer not to do it. For others, it helps. I suggest we should be guided by the preferences of the victim. Yes, let's hear "his" side of it, as you say. Starting with, who is "he". Or more accurately, "they". Yeah I agree with this case, I was more referring to Saville. In fact I hardly read your post beforehand sorry. There are several cases like this throughout the country such as North Wales and Jersey yet no one has done anything about any of these events. Seems like becoming a judge or politician is the ideal career route to take if you want to commit paedophilia and get away with it.
  18. I'm not disputing whether elements are true or not, just the fact that the way it has most likely been written is to make everything shock the reader more than anything. Any of these kind of stories I just turn the page over after reading a couple of lines, I can't see the point in being sickened by something that is written to do just that. If we can't hear his side of it however weak his argument is what is the point. I can't see how the alleged victims would benefit from all these stories, if I was a victim going over and over it again a million times isn't going to make it any better
  19. Big Bang isn't a description of a particular 'bang', it's just a term given to the start of the set of events that the start of the Universe has grown from, there's also nothing that would say that time never was in existence before the Big Bang, just that the time our Universe feels hadn't started. However there could be other dimensions of time that we are unaware of just as there are more than one dimensions of our known physical universe
  20. I'm sure the team is getting better but like some of the negative/critical posters I sometimes feel things could be better still. I feel like I have bipolar with supporting Villa this season, my mood is at opposite ends from game to game. But I still see a positive trend with results, and I think that as the side is youthful and on a learning curve things will continue to get better, I just wished that we played nice football on the eye more frequently than what we have seen over the last month or so
  21. Sensationalistic news story like many other in this particular genre I say, but who can blame them, they need something to get their papers bought
  22. I love reading books on string theory and other theoretical science ideas that try to piece together what we are and why we and our known Universe exists. I believe in the Big Bang as the start of our known universe, this theory doesn't suggest that there was nothing beforehand at all. One idea is the Big Bang happened as a result of the paths of two sets of dimensions crossing, which would explain the growth and start of our own Universe. It is also speculated that if there are conditions to create our own Universe then there are going to be others created around us, so we are like a bubble in a sea of froth. Whether we'll be able to fully understand our existence is perhaps in my opinion something that will be far too extreme and complicated for our brains to ever completely comprehend, nevertheless it is great trying to put parts of the puzzle that we see together. I just think some of the jigsaw will be never found, we'll get to figure out our immediate and visible surroundings, beyond that maybe to an extent by what effects are created on our known Universe but beyond that I have my doubts
  23. not exactly as he still 'chipped' it rather than wrapping his foot around the ball and 'whipping' it in. It wasn't a chipped floater at all, had a lot of pace on it. He wrapped his foot round it too much hence the reason it went out
  24. I've seen him have worse games and get less stick. I think that first corner he had put straight out of play was his attempt at the kind of in-swinger that everyone craves, needs to work on it clearly. Bacuna would be better at taking these duties over or Tonev when he plays.
  25. I think it was a mistake in hindsight to not start with Benteke, he was clearly fit to play. I get the point that Glenn Hoddle made before the game about risk but it would have started the game with a big feel good factor and would have changed the complexion of the match. Dwight Yorke was looking at the decision in this point of view also, we would have carried a much greater threat throughout the game with the extra confidence throughout all of his team mates too
