  1. Sounds like he rates him highly, Saha has not got the easiest of accents to follow though
  2. Can you sell a player on loan for them to move on once their loan expires?
  3. Not the women though he's one ugly fella (I care not btw) The women liked the look of Angel too, Libor hasn't been blessed bless him
  4. N'Zogbia, Tonev... Doubtful whether N'Zogbia will ever play for us again and Tonev isn't a specialised AMC (though hopefully he can evolve into one). When I watched Bulgaria international match 2 or 3 weeks ago Tonev played as a AMC, I think this is where he'll play for us. I'm pretty happy with the transfers and value of transfers so far. I cannot wait for the Newcastle game now
  5. Just says interest in Batshuayi, another striker who looks decent on Youtube like most players do
  6. What we've got to inflation adjust every move now? Then surly Zidane is. To work out the relative values of prices from two periods in time you need to take into account inflation. £10,000 in 1900 is of greater value than £10,000 in 2000. The relative value you'd say would be more for Bale but not the absolute value (other things taken into account). The true value of Ronaldo is basically more, basically £80,000,000 four years ago is worth more than £85,300,000 today.
  7. Anyone else getting irritated by the Bale signing getting repeated over and over and over stating that he is the most costly player ever. Especially irritating when inflation adjusted he isn't. According to Forbes, Cristiano's inflation adjusted price is $141,000,000, that just under £91,000,000 in todays money. Gareth Bales fee is £85,300,000 in todays money, I really hate useless inaccurate journalism as half the time the public believe the cr*p that's written.
  8. I don't think that Libor will be brought in as an understudy player, I think certain times it would be good to have two Benteke type forwards on the pitch. I feel that teams are going to purposefully try and rough Benteke up to try and take him out the game. Already we've seen Toure and Ivanovic given jobs to do just that. If there's another similar player alongside Benteke they will struggle to do this and this will give Benteke more space to work his magic. Not all good strike partnerships have been little and large/speedy and tough combinations, Yorke/Cole, Shearer/Sutton, Ba/Cisse. I feel that these two could be very effective against certain kinds of teams
  9. That lad in the car looks more heavily built than Graham, do people know who that is for definite?
  10. 100% agree. There is no analog for Benteke. There's no established or known player half as good as him who would join us in world football, so trying to replace him isn't going to work. There are 2 options. The first one is unearth another Benteke. We've done it once, we might do it again. Maybe it's Kozak? The second option is sell Benteke for an obscene amount of money and strengthen the entire first XI from back to front, changing the system in the process so that a Benteke-like player is no longer needed Or an unlikely third that we do so well that he's sees staying with us as an option, this is my preferred outcome
  11. Is he any better than Bowery? Don't think Lambert rates Bowery if this transfer is true
  12. Me too but then 0 goals in 18 Serie A games kind of evens it out. My excitement has subsided!
  13. I know nothing about him but 10 goals in 11 Europa league games gets me excited
  14. He is a far better player than Soldado, he's a completely different player too. Do managers go for players who compliment their style of management or just buy anyone, as I guess he wanted one or the other, but they are totally different. Or maybe Soldado is so inferior it just appears he's a different type of striker, he doesn't seem to have the ability and/or strength to play as the lone striker from what I've seen. Looks like Spurs have been Sold-a-Dodo so far.
  15. No open goals in the season so far, 270 minutes and counting. I've found it comical after the fact that people and experts expected a top 4 place a certainty and a possible push for the title. The players that they have bought have no history of been proven in the premier league and to be honest I hadn't really heard a huge amount about them previously, other than their names sound nice, but then again dos Santos had a nice name! They've let experienced and proven players go and brought in expensive 'names', and after the first three games none of their names have stood out. Soldado is good at penalties but not much else, haven't seen great movement from him, isn't that imposing on the ball and not particularly creative, it's early to say but £26,000,000 seems a lot for that sort of player, reminds me a bit of Santa Cruz. They don't seem potent going forwards either, they move the ball very slowly through midfield, and although the new midfields are comfortable on the ball they don't look creative to me. Early days but I prefer the look of both Liverpool and Arsenal. Sold their most prized asset (soon will) and haven't got anyone other than a few above average foreign names. That's my early assessment of them anyway

    Hello

I have been following Villa since the mid nineties which is about the time that I started secondary school. Although I always used to only take tennis and snooker seriously as a sport in terms of personal participation, I have played football more as a hobby and never would call myself a great player, although I love to watch the sport. I have also followed this site since the H&V times and would like to join in on the discussions now
