  1. Hope you're fooling about, I want to read inspirational stories, not wrist splitting ones
  2. Thanks, have you read Duncan Bannatynes latest, since then since his divorce he's had a bad time. You can tell that just by watching the Dragons Den
  3. It's crazy some of the stuff people put themselves through, me included. Just now I've matured it means less and less to me about being in a relationship. I think people a lot of the time do it just for a status symbol, I remember a time when I was working in Skegness as a barman I got with one of the local lap dancers, yeah she was probably the sexiest thing I'd ever seen and I was spunking my nuts up her but if truth was told I didn't like her accent and a few other niggly features. I was in that as a status thing, I loved the fact that my mates wanted her but I was the one doing the business. Now after that has died I'm happy being single doing my own thing. For one, I know I have been with a stunner, for two, I don't need to prove anything.
  4. Top 10, still hoping top 8. Yeah we had a bad game, but happens to the best, look at Chelsea, City etc
  5. I love reading a good story, especially one that can be related to, so autobiographies really immerse me. To be honest I haven't read to many but the best I have read so far without a doubt is 'Losing my virginity'. It has everything, criminality, luck, perseverance and character. Obviously most contain these to some degree or another, but the way this was written made you swallow the book up in one gulp. What autobiography should I read next?
  6. They are indeed massaged. The figures were more useful when more jobs were full-time. It would be more useful to see figures including things like people on variable hours contracts, people working less hours than they want to, people not signing on but wishing to enter employment. 7% unemployment does not reflect the same position that the same figure would have say 30 years ago, because of the changes in the labour market. As for interest rate rises, I think the effect on the bubble would be muted. It would prevent some people from taking out a mortgage and so reduce demand, but probably not enough to make a significant difference to prices. The bigger impact would be that if a lot of people have to pay more interest and therefore cut back on other spending, it dampens economic demand. Since this recession has involved demand being low, it's perpetuating the problem. Less money being spent on things which create employment, more money going to rentier profits. Small businesses would feel the pinch as well. But savers and asset owners would be happier, and that's an important part of the potential tory vote. These figure were brought out just as people are coming out of unemployment and entering education, they always use this as a supposed improvement in the economy. Misuse of statistics is something that really gets to me, I wish people can see past these fabricated lies
  7. I guarantee he'll at least be on the bench next game unless injured
  8. Apart from technically he's one of our best players and his form towards the end of last season. In fact why should he be written off? That's what confuses me most
  9. Not JUST that, no. But in 30+ years of watching Villa, I can't remember a left back with less defensive ability than Bennett, however old he is. In this time how often has Villa played 433 offering little protection to the left back? I think the standard and variety of offensive players has increased hugely compared to 30yrs ago which impacts on how well the defenders are perceived to be. Has Luna really been much better defensively than Bennett since he's been here compared to how Bennett ended last season, I don't think he has been. Did you watch the Newcastle game?
  10. Pathetic, immature better fan behaviour and I expect far better from an older fan. Different players adapt at different speeds. Bale? Modric? Essien? Top, top players that looked poor at the start of their PL careers. I can go on with more but I think my point is made. Bales first season with spurs they didn't win a game with him in the team I'm pretty sure, and he played quite a few games. No doubt spurs are upset they persevered with him. People seem just to evaluate Bennett on the shocking spell after Christmas where he made mistakes and conveniently forget his better performances later on. Maybe as they had made up their minds and would hate to be proved wrong
  11. That doesn't mean that Bennett should be made an unfair scapegoat, that he hasn't got the ability to improve, that he wasn't playing well consistently over the last quarter of last season, that he isn't in Lamberts plans and that Lunas performance yesterday was as bad as the worst performance I've seen at left back for a while. I'm not saying Luna isn't an improvement, but to me he isn't miles better at all and if Bennett develops a bit in different areas then Bennett could become better. But the abuse Bennett has been given is a bit ott
  12. I think he played well when man city beat us 1-0 due to a clark error/refereeing decision whatever way you view that incident. Might have been injured for the next game I presume
  13. If Luna has a few games that compare to yesterdays in quick succession then I think you can make a case for Bennett to be given a chance, that's just my opinion which is as valid as anyone else's. Some agree, some don't, lets see what Lambert does
  14. I don't think he was better at left back than Bennett, left backs need to do more than just defend. No doubt Bennett needs to improve, but he is doing and there's definitely potential with his ability.
  15. By the time he came on against Chelsea the game was dead and buried, would be hard for a inexperienced left back to come on and alter the game. I was pleased how he progressed last year, I don't understand how or why people like to slate him so much.
  16. Like 'that game' against Chelsea where Baker started instead of Bennett!!!
  17. He needed some competition/cover as Bennett was the only player at left back for this season if no-one was signed
  18. That's funny he reminds me a little of Bale when he first arrived at Tottenham, I hope he can gain physically like he did, whereas Lowton reminds me of a right sided version of Whittingham though with his style of play especially his crossing
  19. Don't you think Bennett was decent towards the end of last season? He started to look a decent left back to me
  20. He can't do this. He doesn't have the players for it. We don't have a single midfielder who can play even passably well in a 2-man central midfield and we don't have proper LMs and RMs who can protect their fullbacks too. Also, as we know, no one who has proven to be able to be a 10. Thus all of his options include playing 3 central midfielders, who generally sit way too deep isolating the striker(s). Every time he tries playing 4-4-2 it fails miserably, even when he does that for parts of a game only - Liverpool first 35 mins and Newcastle last 20 mins. He really has zero options to play with the formation as he doesn't have the players for it. I've no idea why he hasn't tried to improve the midfield. Could Bacuna play on the right of midfield, Bennett on the left, Sylla and Delph in the middle and Helenius/Tonev/Gabby/Weimann as Bentekes strike partner
  21. Did Bennett get a lot of protection last year? Ben Arfa looked fantastic yesterday but Luna was very poor against him, I don't think Bennett could have done any worse as that would have been near impossible. Also Bennett wouldn't have crossed that goalscoring opportunity, that was one crazy decision from Luna
  22. What is the point of bringing in a youngish promising player from the lower leagues, spending lots of time developing him, watching him improve as the tough season progresses and then the following season just leave him out as a spare part. I'm sure he'll be given opportunities to establish himself but I hope that those opportunities are decent, otherwise he'll lose all his confidence that he's built up. I like him as a player, I'm not saying this just because of Luna's bad day yesterday, he's no more worse than Lowton defensively, has great technique and is comfortable in possession, I think confidence like for a lot of players makes him perform to his ability.
  23. Been very poor so far this season, already been subbed off the pitch (Chelsea game) which never happened once last year and put in a very very poor display today, hope his form picks up soon
  24. I think Bennett would have added to the team today judging by the last few times he's played, Weimann needs to be dropped for Tonev. It didn't seem like Gabby came deep to help much today, like that role was given to Weimann but he was so poor at it. Such a frustrating performance
