  1. What’s even the point of points deductions in these situations? Just punishes the fans for the owners mismanagement
  2. And yet you’ll still get Gary Neville saying he couldn’t see anything wrong with their performances once they’re relegated
  3. Thanks for posting. He looks an absolute nightmare to play against - everything about him is quick: his feet, his brain, his raw pace
  4. Not checked this thread for a while- How on earth did we get from Morgan Sanson’s injury to the mass extinction of the human race?!
  5. It’s notable how productive he actually is considering how little he gets the ball for England. The only spark in the the team last night. imagine what sterling’s highlight reel looks like from that game (get ball, run into traffic, lose ball) or mount’s (get ball, run a little, play it safe)
  6. This bloke’s gonna end up being more myth than legend the more his dad talks while he doesn’t get any minutes on the pitch
  7. I blame the AFA purely for the irrational reason that the Argentina manager seems like a nob. Separate issue but his claim that Martinez and buendia would stay for all 3 games which completely cut across the compromise we’d reached with them stank of arrogance and it’s wholly believable to me that he/the AFA showed the exact same attitude re the Brazilian authorities leading to this mess
  8. The interview with England didn’t bother me that much but the one he did for city with lescott immediately after signing did. That was the one where he talked about “no offence to villa but here we have world class players in every position” Something about the optics of having two brummies both born as villa fans talking about how great city are and all the great things to do in manc really annoyed me and was distasteful in my view particularly with lescott so heavily associated with relegation in our eyes. Not sure if that was deliberate shithousery from city but you couldn’t design a better way to irk villa fans
  9. If we’re including the championship era, I think McGinn was pretty universally liked in our final season there. But struggling to think of a premier league equivalent so you may have a point…,
  10. Someone should ask him whether he’ll be booing himself like his fellow villa fans when City come to VP
  11. Any villa fan should feel mightily pissed off tonight. The best player we’ve had for a generation can barely get on the pitch when he’s with us but is instantly starting once he moves to a big 6 club. It’s a joke tbh
  12. My big problem with him over the last 9 months or so is that he hasn’t been ambitious enough with his passing. He’s decent enough at defending (if a little clumsy) but previously at his best he stood out in the DM role compared to our other options because of his passing ability. My favourite goal of last season was the second goal vs Arsenal away where luiz pinged a beautiful stretching pass to Barkley to volley for Watkins headed finish. For me, luiz hasn’t been doing enough of that type of passing the past 9 months or so- it’s mainly been short obvious passes which means he doesn’t stand out so much
  13. Completely agree with this. I think these new contracts with hidden release clause situations stink to be honest. Allows the player to claim they’re loyal while actually knowing they’re more likely to leave and takes power away from the selling club by reducing their flexibility with the price. there’s a rumour JWP has done the same with his new contract (might be just cause he’s with the same agency). If so, the exact same dynamic is playing out there: JWP pretends that signing a contract shows his loyalty when he’ll be gone next summer, Southampton pretend they’ve “locked down” their star man while knowing they have less flexibility in future. All smoke and mirrors
  14. My sense is that he might adapt somewhat better to senior football as he strikes me as a very mature/ intelligent player for his years whereas Carney still looks a little overawed at times. Carney reminds me a little of the way we thought of delfouneso 10 years or so ago. He absolutely destroyed youth teams because he was so much more physically dominant but struggled a little with the step up partly because of confidence/not being the main man. Compare that to Albrighton who was somewhat less rated but became a much more consistent player at a senior level I think partly because of his mentality- JPB reminds me a little of those qualities. all early days of course and I’d love to see them both succeed but I thought JPB was the stand out player of the younger lads in the barrow game as his composure was next level
  15. I vaguely remember being almost as concerned about losing luiz as grealish that summer which feels bonkers now. Hope he can recapture that form
  16. Decent championship level player
  17. I haven’t watched the full game yet so this is a tentative view but that last breakaway we had where Ollie got a weak shot away was encouraging in showing how him and Ings could work together in the future. Almost like they were playing one twos to each other up the pitch
  18. Why did Swansea not come in for him on a permanent deal? Looked like he was doing a good job down there last season but maybe I’m missing something…
  19. All of a bit of a circus now- wouldn’t surprise me if he starts to lack focus on the pitch as a result
  20. It’s almost like he wants to be a drogba type all round brilliant forward involved in the play all the time and doesn’t quite realise his strength is as an outright finisher
  21. He cost us £40m so if he’s 40% as good as grealish that makes him good value in my book
  22. I still don’t understand. Can you explain it again?
  23. Robinho, Adam Johnson, Ched Evans, Mendy…the link between City and sex offenders is weirdly strong
