Is that unique to football? Otherwise not sure this is true. I'm in business and if I sold something that netted me £100 mill profit, but I had already made a £100 mill loss that year - I wouldn't pay any tax on the profit as there wasn't any....

Yes, there's definitely an element of new manager bounce to my thinking. But if you're the owners with £100s millions at stake, I can't really blame them for taking the lesser of the two gambles.

This is a gamble, but I'd argue less of a gamble than backing Deano at this point. We looked clueless at times, unable to come back into a game and on a horrific run of losses. I loved having Deano here, but understand the decision and believe we're less likely to get relegated now than we were last week. Let's get off to a good start

Perhaps one coach can coach the player taking the set piece, and the other can coach the other players - but in two separate areas where they can't see each other. Would deffo be an improvement

I haven't read the last 50 pages as I've been at work, but one thing that strikes me... If Gerrard wants to come to us, over Newcastle, from a successful period at Rangers, knowing the job at hand (getting us into and then maintaining European football from a relegation battle) and what failure will do to his Liverpool chances...fair play - the man's got balls and backs himself. I will too! UTV

I think there will always be an element of profile now and how the club can raise it. I'm sure success to our owners in terms of trophies is important - but very difficult. Success in increasing the value of their asset is easier and as moneymen their main aim. Gerrard is the manager of a club with more global reach than us, has won more than us during his playing days and will no doubt raise our profile if he signs.

Initially I wasn't that keen on Gerrard, but for where we're at and what we need its probably as good as it's going to be. He has a high ceiling and his coaching setup can only improve us as its been chaotic for us this year. Great player, untarnished managerial reputation and will demand high standards. If he does well, Liverpool may well take him. We are deluded if we think whoever comes in wouldn't also leave for Liverpool...

I hope so too. However after much consideration they thought Buendia, Ings, and Bailey would replace Grealish but they haven't. My opinion is that we've bought big players, made promises about playing time that haven't fitted into a decent system. You've only got to be misfiring a bit in this league to be found out. What new manager can get our best players into an 11? Not sure it's possible.

I literally can see no way of us not beating them comfortably. I am getting carried away, but on paper their running stats are awful, ours are great, their set piece defending is awful, our set pieces are great, we're in great form, they are not. One day I will learn this means that we will lose, but that day is not today - 0-3 UTV

I hear you, but just because that's how it is, doesn't mean that's how it should be. You need to be aware of your responsibilities and the rules, laws and regulations that apply to you. If my wife booked all our travel, should I be ok to be ignorant to rules that applied to me?

As a grown adult, perhaps he should have found out about the quarantine rules that applied to his trip

Glad we've kept all our best players. Would have derailed us if City fancied putting Martinez / Mings/ Konsa etc on their bench
