    The other unknown part to this strategy (for us) is the value of the uplift in the status and profile of the club. Gerrard and Coutinho are global superstars with huge followings, how we monetise this and by how much is hard to quantify.

That's why you have cover which he doesn't really have. Not sure Ashley young provides the engine required for what's been asked of the position. If we get digne, I can see targett starting over him in some games on merit

You would also have to question the owners / senior managements forward motivation if their best efforts fail so expensively too.
