Reading books is good for ya, bro. Although I suspect a really heavy book falling on your noggin might be the treatment you really need?

I agree we need a new midfielder, 100%. That's the weakest spot on the pitch. My point was more that just because we lost the first game, doesn't mean we need to be all doom and gloom about the season. I think we're a much better side than how we played in the first 60 minutes of the game. Somehow our preseason preparation was awful, and looks like we're going to need a game or two to get up to speed. The first 2/3 of the game felt like the 2 pre season games that should have been on our schedule but somehow weren't. I'm still massively positive about the signings we've made, and think there's more to come. We're just being coy, and letting the market know we don't need to spend the money sitting in our pockets...

Anyone investing even a single quid in the markets in their pension should read that book!

The human brain generally skews to extrapolating short term patterns. Statistically there’s absolutely no reason to use a couple of data points to make long run conclusions. The theory is that this kind of behavior was probably an advantage to our ancestors. Lion tries to kill you, be afraid of lions forever (I’m still afraid of Hercules to this day). Anyhow, there’s a great book on this called Thinking Fast, Thinking Slow. Point being - we’re generally wired up to take small amounts of info and make big wide ranging conclusions that we really shouldn’t be when applied to modern (non sub Saharan African) life. In other words, I should stop getting annoyed with all these one result pessimists because they are just acting in line with their genetics. Funny enough though, I can’t haha.

They are just letting WAY more go. No where near as many free kicks or cards. It’s a pleasure to watch

I think the club should sack half the fans after the nonsense I have read on here since yesterdays loss!

We don't need new fullbacks. We don't need anyone else up front/ on the wings. A marquee CM/ DM would be excellent, but if we don't get one, I trust in the project until proven otherwise. One game does not prove that the project is failed. Give it chance!

This! We underestimated Sarr. Targett 100% outmatched. Deano changed it up and honestly with 10 more minutes we might have grabbed a draw. It’s not all doom. Our pre season sucked. We’re underprepared. Let’s give it 5 games before we even think about making any conclusions.

What in the hell am I reading in here… Ings didn’t have a great game because he had close to zero service. It’s that simple. The guy is a monster at converting opportunities if you create some for him. As ever, VT going into insane over drive from one bad result making stupid conclusions.

He got the first half completely wrong, agree. But his changes worked and we looked much better.

We messed up the first half. Underestimated Sarr, Targett wasn't fast enough. Much better second half - "we won the second half" is a comment I hate, but we did (technically). Looked much better after all the changes. Sucks, but not going to get too upset. We looked weak against counterattacking football. No need to dwell on this for hours. Onwards and upwards!

Well maybe we'll go and spend the 100mm now???

The Common Potato on the stream I am watching summed it up - Villa struggling on the counter. Sarr is just too much pace for Targett today.
