If we lose that certain someone we will be able to buy some decent players for the £200million plus we receive for him.
However that certain someone will be playing for us next season.
Welcome back. Smart signing. People have mentioned him being a prick. On the pitch yes we need this. Also off the pitch he will be a huge signing for all.
Maybe Jack's "me winning these free kicks" was referring to Ashley Young.
He's an eloquent man who will ,I hope, be beneficial to the youngsters. Guys like AEG, Traore and even Buendia will benefit from his knowledge of wing play. This is a bigger signing than a lot of people think.
Italian football isn't the war of attrition it used to be back in the day (Sunday C4, ). The game whilst not as quick as premier League football is quicker than it used to do but physicality (strength, power, endurance) is on a par with the Premier League.
We sign him good, we don't sign him good.
As I said earlier in the thread the narrative out of Villa for this window is "smart". That tells me we can't throw money willy nilly nor should we.
We don't have a bottomless pit and we need to be sustainable as a business. We need to be making healthy revenue to be competitive. Unfortunately Villa are not an attractive commercial entity. Therefore we have to be careful with what we spend and now I'd expect us to tail off in terms of transfer window purchases hence the likes of Ashley Young will be bought to compliment the squad.
Could be a masterstroke and will be beneficial for all especially on the training field. I hope he is being bought back in a mentoring capacity too.
Well it certainly seems like a 'smart' signing which would fit the narrative that has come out of Villa Park recently.
As I said last season the owners won't be spending the TV money every season. They're businessmen who expect returns on their investment.
Ashley Young still producing the goods at his age and would bring in the winning mentality and arrogance which I feel we lack sometimes.
