    It's your first post since we signed him though... I think i get the sentiment. I naturally imagine the worst. Especially where Villa are concerned. But I think Emery has finally released me of the "something will go wrong" curse. Maybe that's not what you're feeling, but if it is, you can let it go. Emery is here and he's the best in the business.

    Explains why he wasn't smiling with delight in the airport on the way here. Clearly a huge decision for him and one he would absolutely only have made if he was certain it was the right thing to do. Doesn't mean there won't be some sadness to go with it. But does mean he's going to give everything to make sure and prove to himself this was the right decision. Welcome Pau, we'll make sure you have a new home to be proud of, and a claret and blue tinged heart to join your yellow one.

    It is looking like we overpaid for him. But he's not a bad player. We signed a player that looked amazing playing a very specific role behind a very in-sync forward. This has not transitioned to playing to the same level for us. Not sure if Emery can adjust the system to work with him, but I'm not sure we'll see Buendia get any better than he is already in the current system. He works ok in it, but doesn't look like a £33m player in it.

    At a quick glance I didn't even clock that the black and blue shirt was a Chelsea one. Those badges are so similar in monochrome at a distance.

    Prefer it to what we've end up with. Our old sponsor makes it really look like a villa kit too. We should stick with the Luke theory of mostly claret and just blue highlights imo

    It's pretty much the worst kept secret in recent villa transfer history so it doesn't make sense for them to delay the announcement once things are actually finalised. Assuming he passes the medical, I don't think we'll wait too long. He wouldn't fly over unless it was already a sure thing.

    Value for money I guess. They might only get one Nakamba instead of two or even three of those signings. Definitely smacks of them aiming to get relegated though.

    That's such a strong looking bench. Not bad first team either , although as others said its lacking creative spark and speed Ramsey probably starts when he's fit. And I expect a second striker/winger will have the McGinn role. Real issue is that Cash won't be played there I don't think...or indeed anywhere. Be interested to see if/how Emery uses him this season

    I asked the very same earlier. I assumed a couple of hours for the medical first. But not sure if they do those at a dedicated facility or have the means to do them at BMH. I reckon we then complete the signing and photoshoot today. Announcement tonight, full photo and interview reveal tomorrow

    Just did some digging and seems they bought him from Brighton for 1m not long ago. So Brighton do make transfer mistakes.

    Ah well, nice coincidence then. At that altitude though he might have even been able to see the players on the training pitches. Nice to think that he might have caught a glimpse of his future workplace and started that "this is my new home" feeling
