  1. Hibs have put the top tier of the South open for home support so unfortunately there will be no more official tickets available for visitors. Shame as it will be interesting to see if we sell out..............so unless you can get a ticket in the home stands it will have to be watching in the boozer or hopefully BBC Scotland will pick it up if nobody else wants it?? After the fiasco with the ticket sales on Friday there will be some home tickets available from touts .
  2. Well, having just watched Hibs today there will only be one winner on Wednesday whatever side Villa put out. ( even Olsen in goal ) Thought we may have rested some players but went with a strong line up and still our defense was shocking and we have the midfield of a doughnut........take the SHA fan Joe Newell out of the game and it will be easy street for Villa. Enjoy your trip up to Edinburgh and don't fear another Stevenage .
  3. The decision as to which game was moved was made as to league positions at the end of last season.and since Hearts were above Hibs they stayed on Thursday. Problem then was that as there are Champions League games on the Wednesday our game had to be brought forward so as not to clash.
  4. Not mine mate.............born in Hall Green to Welsh parents
  5. If none of the usual suspects want it I am sure BBC Scotland will show it.
  6. Doubt there will be any big screens to show the game with the festival in full swing . In the past they have used a square opposite Usher Hall in the past but "The Ladyboys of Bangkok" are there at the moment St Andrews square is the only other possible venue but not seen anything proposed. The Globe Sports Bar just in Niddry Street is a good venue to watch the game and is fairly close to Waverley Station. Rose Street ( parallel to Prince's Street ) is good for pubs and atmosphere. Only fans you are likely to encounter are Hearts fans who will be cheering for Villa anyway!!.
  7. Wot no McGinn Agreed you should breeze past Hibs who apart from a couple of games in Europe ( one was a team from Andorra) have shown nothing. Not won a League game and a second string Bournemouth put 4 past us pre season against a reasonably strong Hibs side, though pre season has to be taken with a pinch of salt! Lose tomorrow in the "wee wee cup" against a flying Raith side in front of an empty Easter Road ( apart from Raith who have sold their allocation) then confidence will be low and the Hibs natives won't be happy!
  8. Rangers often doesn't sell out due to the antics of their fans but Celtic and Hearts often do. Much depends on how we are doing at the time. You are right that many fans are attracted by the return of SJM .................hope they feel the same about him when as a true professional he slots his third goal home. The attraction is also an English Premier League side and some delusionals feel we "have a chance of an upset" It's the same when we get to Hamdump there is always a scramble for tickets and many are day-trippers who don't attend any other games. We have a League Cup game tomorrow at home where we have sold maybe a couple of thousand tickets and these same " tripper fans" will be moaning if they turn us over. There is probably a good chance of this which is a shame as it is one of the 2 opportunities in Scotland ( along with the Scottish Cup) of winning a trophy. Having said that it has been an expensive month for Hibs fans so maybe saving their money to see a quality side on Wednesday and not going to watch Raith tomorrow.
  9. The South stand holds 3250 ish. 1600 ish in both top and lower tiers. Hibs are starting to sell in the lower tier ( alongside Villa) but not the top tier as yet. Difficulty would be segregation as the stand can be split vertically . If they can segregate the top tier from the Hibs on the lower then perhaps extra tickets could be made available but only, as one post states, if Hibs cannot sell the rest of the ground. Mind you, when tickets went on sale yesterday Hibs made a complete mess of it and had to close it down after a couple of hours.
  10. Maybe if it were the 2 bigot brothers in Glasgow
  11. No fully deserved mj ( need a bit of slack as I was born in Hall Green ) .................will teach me to re read what I have written. It's the shock of going through! Cheers
  12. Well that's a surprise but Villa it is then . Unfortunately it has been moved to the Wednesday at 5.45 as it clashes with Hearts playing at home on the Thursday night. For Villa if you are travelling........................... Plane to Edinburgh airport...........tram to the centre or the 100 city link bus. Driving...............can park at the bottom of Easter Road in the Tesco car park. ( 5 -10 minute walk to the ground ) Train.............Waverley station is located at the bottom end of Prince's Street. ( Balmoral Hotel / Scott Monument end) Getting to the stadium from the centre.............. Walk............from the bottom of Prince's Street ( Scott monument / Waverley steps / Balmoral Hotel end) , follow the road round by the side of John Lewis, cross over passed the giraffes! and then turn right down London Road. 3/4 mile walk brings you to a set of lights at the top end of Easter Road. 400 yds down on the right turn right at the lights on Albion Road . The ground is straight ahead of you. Away fans are in the South Stand which as you walk towards the ground is to your right, so follow the road round to the right as opposed to walking up to the ground itself. This is the only area to access the away section. Bus...........Opposite the Scott Monument / Balmoral Hotel you can catch the Lothian bus ( maroon coloured buses} number 1.......this goes down Easter Road. Tram.........Towards Newhaven...... Get off on Balfour Street. Walk down the road facing you as exit the tram. Follow that road and eventually brings you to Easter Road. Car..............see above Boozers..................in town plenty to choose from. Not all will let football colours in. Best street is Rose Street which is the small street one up from Princess Street but packed with pubs and atmosphere. Few down Easter Road but probably the best for you is Middletons at the top end of Easter Road. Programmes............Hibernian FC don't do an official matchday programme anymore. A group of supporters produce their own but have limited selling points. On matchday the only place available to away fans is the Programme Shop which is on the left after you have turned in to Albion Road off Easter Road. ( he will have loads of old Villa games in there if you are a collector) . You can contact the Facebook page........The Hibernian Match Programme by Stephen Young........for more details and possibly posting one to you. I don't know what sort of production run they will have but suspect they will increase it for this game. Just past this shop is a pizza slice outlet that is much better value than anything you can buy in the ground so fuel up there if you are peckish! Security is usually tight and therefore slow as the Police etc check for flares etc so don't leave it to the last minute to get to the ground. Shame Hibs have been short sighted and not given the whole of the South stand to Villa ( 3200 ish) and wonder with the kick off time whether this might backfire on them?? Anyway am looking forward to the game although will have to watch through clenched fingers and hope we can at least keep the score to a reasonable level!! Safe travels.
  13. Terrible news for Mings and everybody connected with Villa. Fingers crossed that scans and the consultant find that it is not as bad as first feared. Good luck Tyrone.
  14. Thanks John, ...........think Cropley went to Arsenal from us and then onto Villa after breaking his leg there?
  15. To go with de la Cruz, will need a goalkeeper so just remembered John Burridge....................what a character
  16. Rode our luck and still have an outside chance to go and meet Villa. However we saw how Luzern will play next week in the last 20 with plenty of the ball and slick passing around the box. The final ball didn't work for them tonight and of course the crossbar saved us but hey ho will take that. R2 D2 was brave with going with only 2 established midfielders behind 4 attacking players..........but it worked. Also glad he put Miller back in at right back. Best moment tonight was Martin Boyle flashing the (another?) yellow card during the rammy that occurred midway through the second half. GGTTH
  17. Cheers, just leaving for the ground but they won't let me take the sofa in so I can hide behind it.
  18. It will be 18998 to get rid of as we will be there. Plenty of tickets left for tonights game if anybody fancies a trip up? Nah.....watch it on BBC i player
  19. He's a bit of a lad from his off field attire to his hair cuts!! However I think most players are judged on not what they look like but on how they play. Unfortunately for him he was used only as a sub for most of his Hibs appearances often being brought on when we were losing and not playing well. I think his first start was at Celtic park where our manager played him wide left instead of on the right. Towards the end of last season he was unlucky not to score which would have done his confidence no end of good. We used to have a player who was similar in his off field antics, Jason Cummings, but because he scored many goals the fans loved him. Harry just needed a goal or two.
  20. Agreed you've had a quiet window but obviously have too much for the rest of the league except for perhaps The Rangers. It will be interesting to see how Beales new look signings settle in........I thought there were positive signs for this happening last night and were unlucky not too score more thanks to some great goalkeeping and defending. The problem Beale has is that this has to happen quickly otherwise Celtic will open a large gap which in the SPL will be curtains for any thought of a second title. If they don't win in Switzerland and lose any more league points quickly then the Bears den will not be happy.................they expect success when judged against the green half of Glasgow.
  21. Unfortunately there are quite a few Hibs fans who would never want him to play for Hibs again! I quite like him myself and thought he just needed a goal to kick start his career at Easter Road. He came so close at Aberdeen save for a handball on the line...........he then didn't take the penalty so was robbed of his first goal for the club. ( We missed the penalty )
  22. Bit of both with Doyle-Hayes.........as I said many fans don't rate him and in January this year it looked like he was moving to Forest Green, but that fell through and then struggled a bit with injury. I'm sure all Hibs fans also wish McKirdy all the best but again many don't rate him and has not become a favourite. Struggled for game time and confidence has taken a beating. There was talk about him returning to Swindon but then in a pre-season medical check up the heart problem was revealed.
  23. Harry McKirdy has just had open heart surgery and won't be kicking a ball in anger for about 6 months. Jake Doyle-Hayes has been with us for a while and is "marmite" with the fans with the majority probably thinking .......we could do better.
  24. Was there that day, but in the Holte.
