  1. I bet he thoroughly enjoyed his well deserved sandwich at full time.
  2. When he’s on form, Villa are on form. Quality goal just moments after he very nearly scored from an Austin MacPhee special.
  3. Bailey has by far exceeded what I thought he was capable of. He’s on fire right now. Needs to start again next week, I want to see him rip United apart.
  4. I’ve watched that pass about 15 times, it’s a real thing of pure footballing beauty. What a player our Dougie is.
  5. Just finished watching, I’m so glad I avoided the score and recorded it. That was the performance I was hoping for, top class from the Villa boys away from home. Watkins was superb, a real threat all night. Tielemans makes a huge difference to the team when he’s fit and in form, he never stopped running and his passing is quality. Talking of quality, Dougie’s outside of the boot pass for Watkins’ goal was sublime! So many good performances and it was good to rest some and bring Tim and Morgan on for some experience. That will have done them some good. It could have been much more than five but we didn’t kill ourselves to keep attacking, I guess that’s natural really. Back in 4th with a spring in our step and a very healthy 10pt gap and +16 GD, over West Ham in 6th. UTV!
  6. But if we thrash Sheffield United 0-1, I’ll accept it.
  7. A two goal difference between scores does not constitute a thrashing.
  8. I’ve got some Dad taxi business to do at 17.30 which means I’ll be watching the game on record an hour later. I don’t know how anyone else fairs with this? But I find it so difficult to not check the score and stay away from VT. Let's hope we turn up today and put a slicker performance in that leads to a win and some confidence back in the team (and fan base).
  9. Results elsewhere going our way today mean three points here would get us back on track. Surely we can beat Sheff U?! Be good to see Bailey start.
  10. Morgan Rogers and there’s nothing you can do to stop him! He’s a big lad. In all seriousness, I hope the above isn’t true. I know he was at Man City but not long enough for their ‘ways’ to influence his behaviour with the ladies.
  11. The ground seems very quiet apart from the Geordies…
  12. I wish I could remember, it was 30 years ago! I’m guessing not though.
  13. I no longer question team selections, Unai has infinitely more knowledge than me and sees his players every day. Let’s hope Diaby finds better form tonight and repays the faith.
  14. We will assume he did. Bertie strikes me as someone who, even though he’s never seen ice outside of a drink, could ice skate instantly and to a level that he’d make a decent hockey player.
  15. I think it’s quite understandable that many of us feel anxious about this. We are expected to win but we know we’ve not been at our best. All the stats relating to our home record vs their away record just add to the pressure. This game feels like a pivotal moment in our season and we all want some reassurance that we can push and compete for the second half of the season and not fall off form-wise like we’ve seen so many times in the past.
  16. Did he do a Lomana Lua-Lua style series of somersaults before back-heeling into the top corner?
  17. When I was about 13, my bedroom walls were covered in Aston Villa posters. Deano and Dalian, McGrath, Guy Whittingham… all the legends. And on one particular wall I’d got the 1992/93 team photo poster with scarves around it. A sort of shrine to the Villa I guess. Anyway I can’t remember which game it was, but we were losing and at half time I ran upstairs and bowed my head to the shrine, eyes closed and praying to the gods that Villa get back into it and win the game. I only realised my cousin had seen the whole thing when he quietly said “are you praying to Aston Villa” from the other side of the room! I denied it through embarrassment and said I had something in my eye
  18. On the dead corpse theme. Super, super Morg, super, super Morg, super, super Morg, super Morgan Rogers… Morgues aren’t that super though, so…
  19. I would bet that messi11 was Villalad21, and that they now exist on this forum under another username… I have a suspicion but can’t say any more
  20. I’ll be honest, I have only read a few pages of this thread and I’ve not bothered any watching any of Boro’s games outside of our FA Cup tie… where do we think he’ll fit into the team? Is he an inside forward type of player? Competing with Ramsey? Or Diaby/Bailey?
  21. Welcome Morgan! For whatever combination of a possible £15m it is, it has potential to turn out money well spent. If he can get some time in the first team this season and get out up to speed then his value will increase automatically.
