  1. I already mentioned Grealish and Ings. Chuk was a good call and the fee was the best we could hope for under the circumstances. Guilbert went for nothing and El Ghazi went for close to that, probably Vassilev aswell but at least he cost us very little in the first place. Only Chuk and Grealish saw a profit. we seem to mostly loan/sell players to France or Turkey at a huge loss on wages or fees.
  2. when was the last time we sold a player - rather than loans with subsidised wages Ings & Grealish? everyone else 'hey we'll pay you to take our players' we must have a rep as absolute push overs, I really hope the new exec team put a stop to this
  3. Love to see how many players in the 30-35 mil bracket are banging in goals and assists for other teams, can't believe there are many, especially ones brought in from abroad or whose success was mainly in a lower league. Buendia has a lot of supporting stats that show his overall contribution is pretty decent even if he should get more assists and goals, as someone pointed out on another thread golden age Grealish didn't actually deliver that many goals and assists, didn't mean his influence was rubbish. Not saying Buendia is at his level, not even close but he def does more than he gets credit for. After a really awful spell under both Stevie G and even early days of Emery, Bailey - started to show he is capable of a cut back, pass or cross that would lead to goals in the last embers of the season - he has the attributes, he's just been woefully inconsistent and lacking in confidence. Buendia gets too easily riled and needs to find space/positioning better. Both can hopefully push on with Emery coaching them. I accept we need to rely less on both and both can certainly contribute more, but the constant criticism of both players is tedious and boring, both can do a job for us and both will be needed as we want to add to this squad not replace everyone. We need better attacking options, Watkins is too isolated. I think we will sign another two attackers - if we sell Buendia or Bailey I won't be upset but perfectly relaxed about them getting another season also.
  4. he really wasn't, he was actually showing signs of potential/form after being mostly average before that, whether that would have translated into becoming a good player for us, probably not, but he wasn't terrible at the time he got crocked.
  5. https://www.myoldmansaid.com/truth-about-emiliano-buendia-villas-angel-with-a-dirty-face/ Truth About Emiliano Buendia – Villa’s Angel with a Dirty Face By Phil Shaw - May 31, 2023
  6. He might not have even considered us we were probably only used to get him a bigger pay packet
  7. despite him never been linked to us or Man Utd looking like they want to sell him
  8. Not saying Unai doesn't want him, not saying he wouldn't be good signing of huge intent. But we aren't quite at the level where we can truly complete with the full mercenaries of the game and their blood oil and state sponsored corruption.
  9. he should be working at Vegas he loves cards so much the c*ck muppet
  10. and if your sack is useless it can cause other issues
  11. you knew it the moment they banged on about it at the start that Bobby would score
  12. guys apparently Digne used to play for Everton, who knew?
  13. Emery is managing what he has heroically. But our lack of depth and options is making us too predictable, mark/get contact Buendia every opportunity and stick two markers on Watkin's and close down Moreno and we are done. I can see why Emery played Traore instead of Dendoncker, but it unbalanced our midfield and Bert didn't do much, neither did Bailey. JJ and McGinn don't do enough when it matters most (on current form) and subs really late in the day when we are losing rarely make much impact. I would like to see Duran and Carlos used from the start next game, put Konsa at right back, rest JJ or McGinn. Maybe even start Coutinho instead of Buendia.
  14. if they play well the same posters won't be praising them though
  15. Better clear your diary Bailey and Coutinho will be back soon, so you'll need to be bitching angrily and loudly not rating players on three fronts.
  16. are you on the McGinn thread giving him dog's abuse for his appalling shooting or Ramsey's thread for being flicked off the ball like a tic tac, or Watkin's who has been largely anonymous the last two games.. Or Luiz who had about three touches and Donk even less. I bet before a game's even finished you're on this thread readying your disdain and anger. Buendia has been awful the last two games but he's not alone, we need more depth in this squad, but he is one of very few that can make anything happen, but we do need more and better options, but I feel with better players around him Buendia still has plenty to offer. As a team the injuries have cost us dearly as we look tired and a mile of the pace, Emi needs to rotate players and give some a rest.
  17. quick everyone over to the Buendia thread, time to get some blame in
  18. midfield too light weight, the high line is suicidal a near 38 year old against pace and youth is frightening
