Yes I think they were unfair before that suggesting he be rested. He's probably my favourite Villa player. Not a case of him slacking or not giving it his all, but recently apart from that great goal in the League Cup, his shots have been pretty bad. Was glad that went in today, really hope it gives him a confidence boost.

It is probably to do with Kozak not coming in until late. Lambert said he was working on that deal for a few months, if it had fell through we'd have needed Bowery for cover, especially with Gabby and Benteke being injured we would have had Weimann as our only senior striker.

Both teams will be wanting a win after decent starts, hoping that we'll take it to them and get the 3 points but it isn't going to be easy. 2-1 win.

Did his job though, to be fair Weimann was injured and bringing Bowery on as a big physical presence did the job in the end. Held the ball up for a few minutes and even made a tackle to break one of their final attacks I believe. Mental though like you say, £500k compared to them bringing Jovetic on!

Just watching the Madrid derby, it still shocks me that Courtois is a Chelsea player. He will literally go back to them (I assume next season) as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

I think it's obvious that he's been trying to get a tactic together that works at home. Away we seem to have the right balance, but our home form has been screaming out for a different system. He tried 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and now 5-3-2. At least he has been trying to change things up to get a win, which has now come against a team the majority of us expected to get hammered by.

I think the defenders were excellent, at least a great deal better than we've seen in the past. Our problems in the first half were in the middle of the park, all 3 players kept losing the ball but fair play they came out like they were on speed in the 2nd half.

Seriously couldn't agree more. I think it's the reason Benteke resigned in the end as well. A lot of the players clearly have a great deal of respect for Lambert and want to do well not only for themselves but for him. Thus repaying the faith Lambert has in them. Exactly that mate and as much as we get pissed off sometimes I'd rather celebrate the days like these than be some damn glory hunter! You can tell Lambert commands a lot of respect with the guys, Bacuna probably couldn't help himself.

I think that picture shows what we all love about our club. Lambert has given the guy a chance of a lifetime and it looks like he is taking it with a great deal of gratitude.

I believe he had a Claret coloured Polo logo on his Ralph jumper today, rather than the regular purple one. I don't even think you can buy them in that colourway, maybe he got his sponsorship.
