I think he needs to be more confident in his ability against the big sides. I thought he seemed a bit overawed at times against City.

Most certainly. The man strikes me as a natural leader. He has that calmness to his game, which is more than I can say for our current captain. Like I said, I think SG wants qualities from his captain that he doesn't see in Mings.

I don't think he wears the arm - band next season. We need a captain who can rally the troops when they need it most. Who was trying to bring some calmness and self - belief to the players when we conceded that first goal on Sunday ? If we got Phillips, I think he would be ideal. He seems like a natural leader. That Dennis Mortimer kind of leadership, quietly efficient and most importantly, a calm head when others heads are hanging.

I mentioned Cash along with Mings earlier on in the season, on account of their numerous, expensive errors. Tbh, Cash has improved immensely since I posted that, but yesterday he was back to those error- prone habits. Where are the calm heads in time of need ? That's where Mings as a captain doesn't do it for me. When he needs to be vocal he seems to lose his voice.

Too many for my liking. If he was a quality centre- half there wouldn't be debate about his future, on here and in the national media . Imo, he needs replacing for next season.

How many more mistakes that lead to goals does Mings have to make before the penny drops ? It's criminal the amount of points we have lost due to his errors.

As soon as City got that first, you just knew. Cash needs to be taught about defensive positioning. He was certainly at fault for the first. Hopefully kamara comes in and one or two others and who knows what we may be able to achieve.

Ugo Ehiogu had one of the worse debuts I've seen from a Villa player. We got hammered 4 - 1 at home by Norwich. He was shocking.
