Well it’s something that serves Maguire, he gets a rest against little Andorra and Man Utd are happy but not in any danger of Tyrone taking that spot in the first XI. Grealish being an automatic starter is proof of the machine, he’s done next to nothing at City because he hasn’t had to but suddenly he’s first choice. England have a strategy to try to win a tournament and have their yes man - maybe it will work, but it’s **** boring and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I also don’t think they’ll ever do it this way with this manager.

I feel he’s under pressure to play to keep his place in the squad, it’s all quite disappointing. I guarantee Villa aren’t happy with it considering he was complaining about his ribs which were strapped against (whoever we played second game) and then missed the Brentford game. Thankfully this shouldn’t be too competitive and he will come through unscathed.

He was pointlessly boxed to make sure he couldn’t slip ahead of Lewis going for his fastest lap and told to slow down so he wouldn’t take the fastest lap instead and under team orders earlier.

Southgate essentially telling all players they’ve got no chance of being a first XI fixture if they don’t play for a top 4 side. What happened to playing players on form etc? Forgive me if I’m mistaken but hasn’t he made a big deal about that before? Playing 1 or 2 extra games against Atleti and Dortmund every season really makes the difference in international football against Croatia obviously. Absolute clown. -
I think our best way of getting Watkins and Ings in the same side working well is 4-1-2-1-2 or the ‘diamond’. Luiz controlling and recycling the ball, 2 of McGinn, Sanson, Ramsey and Chuk in the 8 positions, Buendia in the 10 as a free role to pop up in both ‘half spaces’ and the two strikers switching between playing the middle and the back post. The 8s and Luiz hold down between the two areas, full backs provide width with support from the 8s and the front 3 do what they’re best at, while also being some of the hardest working forwards in the league.
