  1. If we had a bomb squad we'd have been able to play them tonight. Good old days
  2. Don't think there's an outright malicious intent behind favoring the big clubs but a combination of personal biases, pressure and just the natural inclination of leagues to promote their biggest clubs with the biggest fanbases, compared to smaller ones. Everybody wants to watch Man U and Liverpool fighting for the championship as opposed to Leicester or even Tottenham. It's just a better product business wise. When asked about which teams he'd want in the NBA finals former commissioner David Stern once famously said Lakers vs Lakers. Such biases exist everywhere.
  3. They had a miniscule margin of error last season. Now that they're a little bit worse across the field and have a little bit less luck the law of averages has kicked in.
  4. I'm not bothered about this transfer window at all. Unlike last season we don't really need anyone. For the first time in forever I'm confident this team is run well and know exactly what they're doing , so they'll figure out how to improve the team, whether now or more likely in the summer.
  5. "It's all just mass hysteria. A point away at Luton is very good and it keeps us close to the playoff positions. There or thereabouts. You just have to roll your sleeves up and have another go."
  6. The Villa pen was denied not because the ref didn’t think there was contact but solely because he saw on the VAR replay that the defender barely touched the ball first. You could even hear him say it ffs.
  7. Wait wait so your opinion is that the Leeds penalty is real but Villa’s against Brighton not? Seriously?
  8. How is this Leeds penalty given but Villa’s against Brighton not. There’s no consistency.
  9. If anything we've actually been very unlucky with some wonder goals going against us, hitting the woodwork a ton of times and Watkins having like 5 goals disallowed due to VAR. Numerous off the line saves too.
  10. This is another game that has shown an incredible improvement compared to last season, especially in game management. We struggled to break down 10 men last season on multiple occasions. Now we're able to completely dominate such a game. Today, with 10 men, we didn't sit back deep and absorb pressure, but pressed very high up the pitch and created even more chances. Well done Deano and everyone else.
  11. I can live with his mistakes. He’s not only a good centre back but is very vocal and an organizer. Easy to forget that despite of being older he’s played fewer career games than Konsa. He’s still learning and developing.
  12. Disagree. I rate Barkley and McGinn about the same but their cost would depend on how important they are to their teams. I expect Barkley to cost around £30m. Good but replaceable players. Jack is in a different universe compared to these two.
  13. Smith has said multiple times that he doesn't want to stockpile players. They may replace some players from the squad like Engels, but their plan seems to be to buy starters, not squad players. I'd really like Zinchenko or Basham in the summer, as they can cover multiple positions. It'll be interesting how they approach the next transfer windows now that we have a pretty good and obvious first 11.
  14. I like the idea of VAR, but never thought its main use would be to disallow so many goals due to dubious offsides. Surely no one benefits from it, including the FA.
  15. He's been very unlucky with these VAR offsides, must be incredibly frustrating but the work he's doing pressing every game and his movement offers a lot even when he's not scoring goals. The only thing I'm unpleasantly surprised by is his ball control, which I expected would be much better after being a winger for years. Might be just him getting used to the quicker speed of the premier league.
  16. It'd have been disastrous for the Bucks had Giannis not signed. If anything, this is protecting Edens's investment. Can't be bad for either Bucks or Villa.
  17. Really? And what is it that he should have said so he doesn't look daft?
  18. You don't actually believe that, do you? Easier to completely deny knowing about it in order to avoid tons of questions than to begin explaining and speculating.
  19. It's not just one year , the picks they're trading are 2020, 2024(swap), 2025(unprotected), 2026(swap), 2027(unprotected) (They've already traded their 2022 first as well). This is ludicrous for a 3rd tier star. They must be sure Giannis is staying, otherwise it's a complete disaster. I'm not sure this says anything about Edens, but as an owner he must have approved such a crazy offer, no GM could do this without it.
  20. Really depends on the protection of those picks, which is a complicated matter in itself, but it's pretty much going all in. If Giannis stays these picks would probably not be very valuable, although it'd still be a problem as they'll be unlikely to have assets for future trades because of the Stepien rule. If he goes next summer, though, this trade could become disastrous for them.
  21. Bucks have been failing pretty badly, nowhere near being champions, Giannis might leave for nothing next summer and they're getting very desperate - paying wayyyyyy over the odds in a trade last night.
  22. Then surely we could buy the clause out for the same amount their profit would be.
  23. What's interesting is that Steer has played more career games than Emi Martinez and they're the same age. There's still time for Steer to have a good career, at least as a championship level keeper.
