Spoke to steward today and he said that they will remove immediately any identifiable Blues fans from ANY part of the ground not allocated to Blues fans. Its apparently already enshrined in the Villa Park rule book and he said any Blues fans in the Villa areas will only stay there if they are not identifiable as Blues fans !!!

Spot on ...... for 70 minutes we were 2-0 up against a team that was looking to go second only to Man City in the league and a team that usually overpowers every team that visits their place. It's not right yet but we are definitely getting there and I'm looking forward to Saturday and continued progress!

Amusing that the Noses were kicking off about their small allocation but then failed to sell them as there weren't enough who met the criteria of five away games last season ! Bit worrying to read of what appears to be significant numbers of them with Holte End tickets ..... I personally know of three and unless they are all bluffing on the various web forums, there must be dozens coming in on Villa tickets !

I don't necessary agree with that. Nobody could have foreseen the likes of Palace and Leicester being near the top of the league at this stage and we nearly got something from both. The only genuinely poor result so far was the draw with Sunderland, we would have been outsiders odds-wise in all the other games. We will be favourites on Saturday though so we do need to win not least because I think the result will be replicated on Tuesday night !

Seriously, this is not enforceable as a court of law would have to deem that the person being served was clearly and evidently a Villa fan and if you are not wearing a shirt or scarf then the pub could deem it was reasonable to assume the person being served was not a Villa fan. Even if they did have a Villa shirt or scarf on, surely it doesn't legally prove 100% they were Villa fans ...... I sometimes wear an old Miami Dolphins NFL shirt but I do so because I like the colours and I certainly don't support the team !!!

Before the ticket office opens this morning, there are 159 seats left in the Holte ..... still plenty down the sides but the Holte is going to be full for sure !

He was good by his recent standards and put some hard yards in but once again his engine was spluttering after half an hour ..... he just doesn't have a 90 minute or even 60 minute game left in him anymore. Still think he could be a massive player for us as a perennial supersub, coming on for last 20 minutes against flagging defencemen and destroying them for pace. Come on Tim - do it !

Had long chat with them yesterday as my daughter attends every Villa game I attend and my full booking history always has an accompanying U18 but I never assigned tickets to her in the early part of last season. Last season it was okay - even for Wembley tickets - they always said they could see she was at the games with me. For this one though, it was no deal. The operative simply said that they had to be strict, they were being monitored and that their jobs were at risk if they went off the set criteria. Fully understand what she was saying even if it does all sound a little OTT !!!

Anybody know at what time the online ticketing criteria changes from 5+ to 3+ booking history criteria ? Figured it would be midnight but wasn't and still hasn't changed from what I can see.

They can't go anywhere unless Villa fans buy the tickets so that one would require 600 Villa fans risking being in big trouble to help a Nose see the game ..... that ain't going to happen !!!

I think the point was you WOULD go if you had a season ticket but to make the trip - I did 200 miles - to support the lads on a dull, wet day against lower division opposition probably deserves recognition when selling tickets for the next round ..... as it did in the FA Cup last season. Doesn't bother me as I have the booking history anyway but I feel for those that did Notts County but are potentially going to miss out on this one. Why should last season's loyalty count ahead of this season's ?

The pivot is basically the central DM who sits between midfield and defense. The double pivot is basically 2 of them, so typically 4-2-3-1 formation. Interesting to hear that this guy has also played as a defensive MF and is good technically and comfortable on the ball I think he sounds like a real prospect and gives us more depth and options. I'm not sure if he'll play as a full back as he sounds more central and Sherwood seems to prefer attacking fullbacks for width. Sounds like a good signing and I'm looking forward to seeing if / how he is used. Kids.... back in my day, that position was known as a "stopper" In my day (early 90s playing the early Championship Manager) he was the anchor. I miss anchors and sweepers. I'm still playing and my gaffer reckons I'm an anchor ..... at least I think that's what he shouts from the dugout !!!

Don't think the stewards/WMP will allow anybody near the pitch but in the various hotspots around the ground, it will kick off in pockets but WMP will be on it like a rash as usual. As ever, if you want trouble you'll find it and if you don't then it will be no big deal.
