This... We would all hate him if he wasn't our goalkeeper, but he's ours so he is the GOAT...

Villa v Brighton - (UAE) 08/12/22 - (1pm GMT)
KMitch replied to Kingman's topic in Pre-Season / Friendlies
TBH, I think our backline can play this way, but they may never have been taught exactly how to play out the back at a high level before... Tyrone only started playing CB under Dean Smith and was a LB for most of his career before that. In the interview the Villa website posted with him yesterday he said the training sessions were very intense and require the players to really be switched on because they're giving them a lot of information. He also said he's being asked to play a completely different role than he has ever played before and was eager to learn, which I'm guessing he's referring to being an actual ball playing defender instead of hoofing it up into the channel every time he gets pressed. Will be interesting to see who can adapt this season and who cannot. -
Pretty much... Ashley Preece and Gregg Evans are the most clueless Villa sources out there... No idea how you can report on a club for as long as they have and still have ZERO credible inside sources for transfers. Both have yet to break a transfer story before Percy has.

But he'll roast the opposition's central defenders, though!

I mean, we all loved Grealish and he gets further under the skin of the opposition's fans than Bruno does...
-
Same feeling that I have... Speculating that Guilbert has burnt his bridge with the club to the point where Emery can't even have him train with the rest of the squad. I doubt a contract raise clause per appearances is the reason why, considering we signed him when we were in the Championship, but who really knows.
-
This... Screams like the type of signing both of those clubs would make just to have him sit on the bench.
-
Because they threw an insane amount of money at him... It wasn't because it was an "interesting project" or he would get playing time there...
-
We could sign Haaland and Mbappe and some would still say they weren't good enough for Villa... Joao Felix would be the biggest meltdown signing of all time for Villa, even more so than Coutinho on loan last January.
-
The guy who got Emery right before anyone else and the one who broke the news that the Sarr deal was off.
-
What a game this has been! No idea how either team hasn't scored yet.
-
It's what happens when you match Memphis & Gakpo up against a centerback duo made up of a 35 year old and a mediocre MLS player.
-
FFS... That's the match... Not going to change anything at half time to counteract this.
-
Will be a very very good side in 4 years when a lot of these young players develop along. Really need the USSF to take a chance on a much better manager, though. Klinsmann was 10 years too early... Need a similar appointment this time around.
-
Pathetic tactics once again from Gregg Berhalter... Not enough bodies going forward into the box for the USA and not getting enough midfielders back to defend when they lose possession and the Dutch counter. The Netherlands will win this one convincingly at this rate unless changes are made soon.
-
Can see him going out on loan if we manage to bring in Thuram in January, otherwise we'll need him for depth and as an option off the bench.
-
He's been great whenever I've seen him play for the US national team. Nailed on starter at 22 with already 22 caps to his name. Can see someone like Chelsea or Spurs going in for him and he'll turn into one of the best RBs in the world in a couple of seasons. Personally, I would love to see him at the Villa, but his stock will be a bit higher after this WC. Might not be able to get him unless Emery really wants him and convinces him this summer.

Little late to the party here, but what a bottle job Roberto Martinez has done with this Belgian team! Not guiding this incredibly deep Belgian squad to a single final in 6 years as their manager is going to be seen as one of the biggest missed opportunities in European footy.

My brain hurts reading this thread... Why are we still talking about Tammy? No chance Roma lets him go now. Mourinho still rates him, even though he's going through a dry spell at the moment. Going to be signing players out of left field again. Cunha is interesting and would be the type I would expect us to be going after. Someone not quite good enough to be regularly starting for a club like Atletico but could develop into something special after a few years of starts in the Premier League for us. I also anticipate us splashing the cash on one high profile mercurial signing (someone like Yeremy Pino) this summer. Exciting times ahead!
