  1. The more I think about it, the more I think Lyric is a fraud: Sarr - There were a lot of rumors flying around Twitter and Reddit about the deal being off before the mainstream media picked it up. I don't think he was the first to break the news. Emery - I remember distinctly that there was an obscure Spanish reporter on Twitter speculating a few weeks before Gerrard was sacked that Nassef Sawiris was in Villarreal speaking to Emery about becoming the Villa boss. I remember this getting dismissed by most Villa supporters on Twitter as nonsense because "this would be something the CEO/DOF would be handling and not Sawiris himself." We know after the fact that this did indeed happen and the Emery appointment was in the works for some time. Lyric did say that Emery was our first choice with Thomas Frank the backup a few days after Gerrard got the sack, but then said the following week we missed out on both of them because we "left it too late" because Frank signed a new deal and Emery would not leave Villarreal because their VP passed away and didn't want to leave in the middle of the season. Only after the mainstream media got wind of Emery did he actually go out on a limb and say the deal was confirmed and would be announced "soon"... It was announced several days later. Douglas Luiz - Saying he's going to sign a new contract then eventually months later he actually signs it isn't insider info, sorry. Deleted posts - He deletes a lot of stuff, case in point being that we won't sign anyone this January before getting rid of the Tweet. A genuine ITK doesn't need to gloat or rub it in the face of every other Villa supporter as much as he does. #SmallDickEnergy
  2. Literally a Charlatan... The first news that comes out in the negative he'll claim it as his now... A player we're linked with signs with someone else A player some like ends up being sold this January Signing a player most don't rate this January Martinez extends his break and isn't back for Spurs this weekend A player picks up a long term injury in training this week Emery slips on a banana peel and breaks his ankle etc... This guy got two things right so far... Emery and the fact that Sarr's deal was off. Spends more time gloating and taunting other Villa Twitter accounts than actually sharing info.
  3. I honestly think Phil is going to thrive under Emery... Will be the first time in a long while where he's actually played for a competent manager.
  4. I guess I'll just go fook off and not bother talking about football on a football forum then... Let's just stop speculating and let VillaTalk die due to lack of traffic...
  5. We need the following soon: Fullbacks - Young isn't getting any younger and we need a backup/developmental player in each role to provide depth and eventually replace Cash/Digne in the team. Central Defender - Konsa isn't good enough to be a top half Prem starter and Mings will get pushed out of the starting rotation by Carlos this summer. Bednarik & Chambers don't play well with a high line and need to be replaced as well. Forwards - Ollie works hard but can't finish for his life... Need to spend big here on at least 1 starting forward, but possibly 2 if Bailey doesn't grow into the role in the 2nd half of this season.
  6. Injuries have always been his downfall... Just when he starts to get a run going in the first team he'll pick up an injury and loses his place in the team.
  7. Meaning he scores penalties, rarely scores from open play, and talks a lot about NFTs?
  8. There have been several players over the years who have come from MLS and been decent in the Prem (McBride, Friedel, Guzan, Howard, Dempsey, Bocanegra, Donovan for his Everton loans, etc.) but absolutely none have turned into world class players who would thrive leading the line for Villa as we push toward European competition. The two best players of all time to have ever come out of MLS have been Alphonso Davies and Miguel Almiron. That says something about how shit the league is. There is a reason why the USA failed to qualify for the 2018 world cup... The team was made up of a majority of players who ply their trade in the MLS...
  9. I'd avoid any player from MLS... That league is straight trash, and I say this as an American.
  10. Why is Buendia marking VVD????
  11. That's the game... Horrific defending everyone ball watching and our forwards can't finish in a brothel.
  12. Agreed... We've dominated the game so far with their worldie of a goal being the exception.
  13. McGinn playing well so far
  14. Ollie, FFS... Another horrible miss...
  15. FFS... It's going to be one of those days, isn't it? A million chances, but can't finish any of them and end up losing to a worldie.
  16. Watford paid 30 million for Sarr... He was their record signing. Were going to take a 5-10 million pound loss on him if our transfer went through on him last summer. Brighton paid 15 million for Bissouma, which was close to their record signing of 20 million pounds. Sold for only 25 million pounds to Spurs, even though half his forum acted like he's a 50 million pound player. Brentford paid 5 million for Toney but reportedly had 10 million in add ons, which has surely been all but triggered by this point. Toney his one hell of a signing, but he was one of their top 3 most expensive signings ever at the time. You're acting like all these clubs paid peanuts for these players, but for their budgets they represent a very significant outlay. TBH, we have made a few signings in this mold so far and I'll give you 3 off the top of my head. Emi Martinez - 20 million for a 28 year old career backup keeper at Arsenal, now worth 80 million+ and is one of the best keepers in the world Douglas Luiz - 15 million for a 21 year old who looked very poor in his two seasons on loan at Girona, but has grown into a 40 million pound very solid Prem CM Boubacar Kamara - Free Transfer for a 22 year old with 4 seasons of top flight and Champions League experience and looks to be one of our best midfielders. Worth 40+ million now
  17. I'm excited for the future... Our first team looks much more comfortable and composed both in the press and in possession. Emery & co are clearly drilling into them exactly how they should be playing. If Ings was playing instead of Watkins for the first half we would have won the game by several goals. Definitely need to spend big on a new striker this January in order to continue to try to challenge for Europe.
  18. Played a very over hit hospital ball to Donk, who couldn't control it and it deflected to a Villarreal forward. Buried it in the net.
  19. Chambers again looking like he's out of place under Emery.
  20. Villarreal bringing on their World Cup starters now... Will be an interesting end to the game.
  21. Dougie & Kamara absolutely bossed the midfield tonight. We've finally found a midfield duo to take us forward.
