Nah, it's a recruiting trip for the Villarreal squad! Emery and the boys are going to take them out on the town and show them how wonderful Birmingham is in the middle of December...

What I've learned about Emery after his first two games in charge: The man is a master strategist and has shown more tactical nuance in these two games than we have seen from any other Villa manager. He does his homework and sets the team up to disrupt the opposition and will ask the team to be patient with the ball and wait for the right run/pass instead of quickly trying to force something. He has given minutes on the pitch to 19 players in the squad and has stated that everyone has a clean slate at this time Ramsey looks like he's going to thrive in this system as a wide midfielder who carries the ball forward Bailey is starting to become the player we hoped we signed and I think he'll turn into our most important attacking player for the 2nd half of the season Gerrard couldn't figure out for the life of him how to get central midfield sorted, but it's been our strongest position so far under Emery and Luiz, Dendoncker, & Kamara all look like they'll be fantastic for us now. Some players are not going to be good fits for his style/system or will need a lot more time to adapt to their new roles. McGinn, Ings, & Chambers in particular look like they're going to struggle so far. Change is going to take time, but I have more faith in Emery to actually lead us into Europe and challenge for trophies than any other manager we've had. Need to back him and give him time.

This... It allows the team to both bond with each other and the coaching staff and to focus on learning without the distractions of home.
  4. This... I don't know how much more he could have done right... Rotated the squad out because we have 3 matches in 8 days Set us up brilliantly in the first half to disrupt Man United and patiently move forward Made good subs to keep the team fresh who will be playing Sunday Blaming him for terrible individual performances isn't his fault. It's his 2nd game, for fook's sake. hahaha
  5. Cue the overreactions... Knew this was going to happen after our first loss... 1st half was great and shows Emery's tactical preparation. Completely shut them down at home and patiently probed forward to create a few chances. 2nd half was a shitshow... Poor performances from our bench players (Olsen twice, Chambers, & Augustinsson) cost us the game. Substitutions were good, rotating out players who will be playing on Sunday and got us back into the game after their 1st goal. Bailey and Buendia looked bright from the bench and Watkins showed both his best and his worst tonight. JJ is going to thrive in this role on the wing, but McGinn looks horrific. The Kamara/Luiz partnership in the center looked solid again and Konsa was again punching above his normal showing tonight. Plenty of things to be happy about, IMO. MoM: Ashley Young... Still shocked that he's 37 because he plays like he is 7-8 years younger. Was our best player tonight.
  6. Garnacho reminds me of a young Ryan Giggs... Looked great today.
  7. Bailey's brilliant touch and control dribbles past 4 defenders and plays a brilliant ball into Watkins... who loses it on his 2nd touch to a single man to beat... Can't make this up
  8. Olsen keeping us in this now... Two great saves there!
  9. Huh??? The first half was great, the subs were brilliant, some of the players are showing they aren't good fits so far...
  10. Chambers isn't fast enough to play a line this high
  11. Right subs... Pace instantly upped with those 3 on the pitch... Going for this!!!
  12. It was Augustinsson playing him onside when the rest of the line tried to spring the offside trap.
  13. Olsen really is Bambi on ice with the ball at his feet... Holy cow...
  14. EMERY'S PATIENT ARMY!!!! EMERY'S PATIENT ARMY!!! LET'S FOOKIN' GOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
  15. He's falling and calling for the foul long before Konsa even touched him. hahaha
  16. I'm not disappointed at all... Very happy so far. Our 2nd string backline/Goalkeeper kept a clean sheet away at Old Trafford so far and we've still had the better chances at the other end. Man United look lost and out of ideas.
  17. Old Trafford may as well be empty... Quietest I've ever heard them before...
  18. Wow... Malacia tripped over his own feet and wins a free kick... Typical.
  19. Man United only look dangerous from diagonal long balls... At home... At Old Trafford... Set up well so far.
  20. Mistakes like this are going to cost us... Have a feeling that this game will be decided by one goal which came from a critical mistake. The question is which team is going to make it?
