  1. This thread is hilarious... Drop points one week and it's all doom and gloom, but win the next and we're still in it. Let's just enjoy the ride. Emery is 100% the right man to take us forward and if we come up short this season, we'll get there either next year or the following.
  2. Absolutely. You could see it in the "All or Nothing" documentary series that Kane is a quiet kid who keeps his head down and leads by example on the training ground. He's not one to break his foot off in someone's arse when they aren't pulling their weight or rally the team together when they need some encouraging words. That's fine when you have that type of captain, as long as you have other leaders in the dressing room who aren't afraid to address things themselves. Picture us in the Championship with Jack as captain with Chester, Jedinak, Whelan, Taylor, Elmo, Hutton, etc. all in the dressing room backing him up. Apparently, the only one in the Spurs squad who does that is Dier, which is why he somehow keeps getting picked by these managers after all these years of poor performances on the pitch by him.
  3. It's possible, but on the other hand he may know he's being sacked this week and decided to go off on the club/players to help save face. The problem at Spurs is Levy... Plain and simple. He doesn't want to spend money on the squad and has a huge debt to pay off with the new stadium. His view is that their squad is good enough to win things and demands instant success from the manager, or he'll find one that will make it right. They've now gone through 3 genuine elite-caliber managers in Poch, Mourinho, and Conte and none of them managed any trophies with this same spine of players. He's now managed to make the Spurs manager job a poisoned chalice and absolutely no one with a world class CV would even consider the position now. They need to dismantle the team down to the studs and completely rebuild from scratch.
  4. I listened to the whole press conference... What an epic rant from Conte! Basically said Spurs is a club for losers because nobody from the ownership to the players want to win or come together as a team, but the managers are the ones who always take the blame. Very vindicating for Poch and Mourinho. If Levy ends up sacking Conte now, they will not find another elite manager to lead them again.
  5. Wow... That's the most stonewall peno you'll ever see... No idea what VAR is looking at there... Horrific refereeing once again.
  6. I guess Fergie stopped paying off the refs this season. Just watched the highlights on that... Horrific tackle...
  7. Reverse the players and we'd be saying it's a stonewall peno... Is it soft? Absolutely, but I've seen worse ones given this season.
  8. Getting stressed out reading this thread... Holy cow... We're creating some of the best build up play under Emery so far because West Ham aren't pressing us high up the pitch. They're preferring to double up on the passing lanes, but our movement is ripping them apart at times. Moreno is fantastic going forward and we look like we're going to score every time he gets on the ball in the final third. We could have easily scored 3 more goals on another day. That said, West Ham's team is set up to soak up pressure and counter with Benrahma & Bowen's pace. Going to be another stressful half, but I think we can pull out a win here with an early goal in the second half.
  9. I mean... If you're the furthest forward player on the pitch, it's kind of hard to be back defending the counter attack...
  10. How did that not go in???? Lovely build up play... Again from Moreno. He's the biggest threat for either team right now.
  11. Ahhh... Villa Talk match threads... Perfectly balanced and rational takes all around.
  12. Nah... Ings was all over him too, which is why it wasn't given. Watch the replay and look at Ings's hands pulling Buendia's shirt. It's a bit of a Ronaldo/Mings situation again.
  13. IDK... That looked pretty blatant to me. Bailey was all over his back, then tripped him up. Chalk that up to another reason why he needs to be the first one in the 1st team replaced this summer.
  14. Yeah, I was a little frustrated too, but Moreno doesn't get the space to make the cross for the goal if JJ didn't make that run into the channel to pull the fullback off him. He seems to be finding the space to run with the ball now after a slow start.
  15. Nice straw man argument... Please find where I ever slagged McGinn off. Meanwhile, I'll keep waiting for you to actually contribute something to the Tim discussion.
  16. Wrong... I've been one of his biggest supporters... Also, thanks for contributing to the conversation. Just quote a post I made a month ago and insult me for no reason.
  17. Solanke's finishing is hilariously bad... My god...
  18. Looks like he's going to be starting at DM with Kamara & Donck both out. I'd like to remind everyone that Chambers was Fulham's Player of the Season in 2019 playing as a defensive midfielder. He's awful as a CB in Emery's system because he's too slow to stop a pacey striker on the counter, but I think he'll be fine for us deputizing for Kamara this weekend.
  19. Newcastle starting their blatant disregard of FFP today... Issued one new share with a face value of 5p for £57 million. No idea how Villa are going to compete properly by following the rules when stuff like this happens.
  20. lol... Gregg Evans can't even get insider info on injuries correct. What a joke the Athletic's coverage of the Villa is. I subscribe for NBA coverage and my team's beat writer is incredible. Travels to every single game home/away, breaks all kind of exclusive insider news, has fantastic player interviews/bio stories, and is always busy responding to fan tweets and comments on the Athletic platform. It makes a huge difference when the writer is a passionate fan of the club they cover.
  21. The Watford manager job is like a speed dating show. What's the over/under on how long Wilder lasts before he gets the sack? Does he make it until the end of the season at least?
  22. That list has the following: Mourinho at 35 Patrick Vieira at 33 Emry at 20 Xavi at 14 Eddie Howe at 13 Potter at 8 Arteta at 6 I can't take this list seriously...
  23. KMitch

    Unai Emery

Still incredible how underrated he is by armchair fans around the world. He's arguably one of the top 10 managers in the game right now by what he has achieved, but Google lists of the best mangers and you'll rarely find him in the discussion... It's sickening to see lists that include Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, and Steve Fookin Cooper in them and Count Unai isn't even an honorable mention...
