I think it’s reasonable to be worried about our transfer window as things stand. I know we got business done early but we haven’t exactly done more than any other club in the league. I struggle to see how we are going to bridge the gap to the top half let alone top 7 with the quality of players in the 11

The reason for the major backlash is because we lost. Nobody would have said a word about Mings otherwise.

Too be honest I wouldn't be that surprised if Mings has been a bit petty regarding the stripping of the captaincy. It is quite clear he is an arrogant player. Can't imagine him being the type to take it well despite what his Twitter PR might say. I think he's been dropped and stripped simply from not being good enough which is what you're all asking for in the Coutinho / Buendia situation. Feels like Gerrard can't win. We really are a hypocritical and fickle bunch.

It’s a must that we sign another top quality player. I know for some reason people think our first 11 is really good but in reality it’s ass. I think we could do with a cb, cm and st. However I think we will get none

I suppose, but by having a back 3/5 Kamara wouldn’t need to do that. Just think it makes more sense than trying to play buendia or coutinho on the wing where they are largely ineffective.

What if we play a back 5? Don’t think this would be bad and might free up the wingbacks to provide a bit of attacking threat and maybe two strikers in the box to get on the end of crosses? Martinez Konsa Mings Carlos cash Digne Kamara mcginn Buendia Ings Watkins could swap konsa & mcginn for chambers and luiz and might give archer more opportunity of the bench. Think this time of formation might suit our current crop of players more than what we’ve been playing

For those thinking he might get sacked in 10 games or so because dean did are crazy. The club didn’t just sign coutinho on obsurd wages for the manager to just him him off at the start of the season

We will struggle against such a big physical team. Doucoure and that 6’5 onana they’ve just signed are going to dominate midfield and most likely cause us big problems from set pieces

This is spot on. Other teams fans don’t think our squad is great. Think it’s just delusion from the price tags we’ve paid for players to be honest. We’re short of a quality CB, CM and ST for us to be pushing into the top 10. The most worrying part of that is that it is the spine of the team

Think there is a massive overreaction here. I don’t think dropping mings was all that bad of a decision. We lose that game whether mings plays or not and we’d have all been slating him in here after.

I’m torn who to blame today on. I think Gerrard is certainly due half the blame but the players were abysmal. One thing I noticed at the back end of last season and again today is lack of care about losing. Where is the anger and frustration? Starting to think the club as a whole is just cursed, we could sign anyone and have pep as manager and we’d still be crap

Let’s be honest Mings has been a shambles for a while. There wouldn’t have been such an outpouring of support for him if we’d have won today
