  1. We needed someone who can put the ball in the net during Benteke's dry spell (which has hopefully ended) and lambert is suggesting that player was here all along but he unwilling to play him. I like Lambert but he does make it hard to.
  2. 2-0 up at highbury. Lose 3-2 last minute to an Henry goal. I think I cried.
  3. Mine would be Mark Delaney. I may get some stick for that but I thought he was good defender who gave a lot for the villa. Now a youth coach as well.
  4. 10th in the league and, although there are not that many points between us and relgation zone, I see it very much how Mourhino explained United yesterday. Yes we can still get relegated but for that to happen 7 other teams, most of which with lower morale, will need to overake us. If we can finish 10, after injuries, Bentekes form and Luna I would say a successful season for Lambert.
  5. Just seen he is at the Snooker with Bowery. They mentioned yesterdays result and he barely acknowledged it. Maybe I am just reading too much into it.
  6. I thought it was interesting how this late signing scuppered LFC's play. I think their plan was to attack Luna on the left. The problem with that for them was with Bertrand in, left back became a strong link in the defence and he was able to push their attackers back through attacking as well as being good defensively. I think sterling was even swapped to the Bacuna's side, may be wrong. In any event the back four looked very strong and apart from the dive and a very nice flick for the goals the were not opened up.
  7. Can't believe all the Holt bashing on various threads. He did well when he came on, he is not the marquee signing people wanted but he's a grafter and yesterday showed he can add something to the team. I think his role will be from the subs bench and had gabby not picked up that injury he would have probably got 10 minutes as he is not at match fitness. Like it or not he is a villa player for the next 5 months or so, so why don't we get behind our players instead of deciding they are "awful" before letting them even play.
  8. I actually thought KEA played well. He may not be the best technically but he gave everything yesterday and particularly in the first half was really pressing Gerrard and forcing mistakes.
  9. Benteke on form seems to lift the whole team. Hope it lasts. As said earlier if we played like this weekly we will be fine.
  10. Winning a cup worked well for them, what else happened that season
  11. Joe Ledley Could be an interesting option from the list. Always thought he was good at Cardiff. Wages reportedly 13,600 Euros so around £11,300 a week
  12. Yes - worth a shout. Would he be able to make an immediate impact this season though ? I think he could stablise the midfield. I think he and Delph would be a could DM partnership which could allow new AM (Hopeful if not wishful thinking) and the front three more freedom to attack with those to covering. As said before, possibly in another thread playing the way we do 4-3-3 i really do believe 2 of the 3 in midfield need to be DM for the attacking three to be able to break quickly enough Think i'm right in saying his brother died in 2009, the following season he was good again for Tottenham then got an injury at Stoke which is the reason he dropped down. A friend of mine in Germany, highly recommends Leon Goretzka, 18. Anyone heard anything of him?
  13. Seen Wilson Palacios has been linked with a 500,000 move away from Stoke. Hasn't worked there but was a good player at Tottenham and Wigan. Cheap, strong, premier league experience, good age. Could be a bargain.
  14. As I see it were are 11th. Apart from the two teams directly above us, Hull and Southampton (who are having a fantastic season) who realistically do people think we should be above from that group.
  15. Can't see the logic. If they'd have beaten them, they would have the mentality of new manager things are changing. Now new manager same result, a loss. Despite seemingly playing better with more spirit, they still didn't seem to create much in my opinion. 3-1 win. Delph, wiemann benteke. Hangelaand for them.
  16. With two goals scored by 'Lambert players'
  17. Lets hope so. It would be nice to not have to scroll down when viewing the league table to see our position.
  18. With all the shit going down there Mackay could be forced out and anything could happen then. It could also have a positive effect. Look at Southampton.
  19. One thing to note is we will go above, "title contending", Tottenham with a win.
