  1. I would love to see him play in the Watkins role.. just to see how he copes.. mind you, may be not against Arsenal..
  2. Really interesting to see how the team do today.. under the last bunch of managers we have always lost momentum with a two week breaks.. I am much more optimistic today, although the lucky socks are still going to be worn
  3. You’ve picked a great team there KMitch, but if you get the time watch some 96-97 season games or even better 92-93..
  4. There’s an interesting Collomosse article in the mail today regarding Emery and his power within our club structure.. sorry don’t know how to add it in to the post..
  5. I love the prediction.. but… you did this whilst Stevie G was in-charge.. I’m not sure even Emery will be able to cross that prediction line
  6. Definitely needs time to understand our league. I thought Mings helped him out loads today. What you need from a team mate..
  7. I was at the match.. although it wasn’t vintage.. it was so much better than I’ve seen here for years.. clearly the players know the plan.. they believe in it.. Saints did f all.. our momentum and possession meant we would get the (legal) goal.. in my opinion.. up the Villa.. and the away support was epic x
  8. I think it is more to do with the size of our club revenue wise which makes moving players on for profit more challenging.. As an example, if Brighton had bought McGinn and Mings for the same value as we did at the same time as we did, then it is likely that those two players would already have been moved on already, for a profit.. However we are a big enough club to offer new contracts at higher wages for those players.. That's the way I look at it anyway... takes away some of the frustration for me..
  9. I think he just wants to change the balance of the attacking players we have and practically speaking Ings was going to be the easiest to move on
  10. I know what you mean, I live in Southampton and have watched him a fair few times when he played for Saints and he looked more agile.. however, I now think it is down to not playing within any kind of structure for us.. until Emery.. I was anticipating that he would start to look more like the player we signed much like Luiz/Bailey/McGinn/Mings all look much better now.. So I'll be a little nervous to see him go..
  11. brought a tear to my eye.. probably the Italian in me he could dress better though
  12. Welcome AP. I think that Unai Emery is why we might be attractive to some foreign players who may not be so familiar with our history.. Once they get here they'll see that our fans and stadium are that of a big club with significant heritage.
  13. we really need to get a sarcasm font.. It made me laugh
  14. I am really excited about this link.. Him, Kamara, Luiz, Ramsey feels like a proper Villa midfield.. young, tough, and technically good.. Guendouzi gets on very well with Emery, and him and Kamara is a great blend of on field personalities, one agressive the other calm.. together I think they will become a formidable pair. But I am a naturally very optimistic person
  15. I see where you are coming from on this point.. When I saw the quotes from McGinn about the fact he preaches to stay humble, I immediately thought of Emi.. Personally, I really hope he allows Emi to be himself and just gets him to be a little more thoughtful, rather than using a stubborn approach with him.. as you say time will tell..
  16. Funny that since Emery has been our manager.. my lucky socks have started working again… the guy is a genius
  17. I guess we all see it differently.. personally I see JJ as the first name in what is now the front four. So Luiz and Kamara as the base.. then JJ.. and all choices from there, going forward, are up for debate.. personally I’d rather McGinn than Buendia at the moment.. but I truly understand that Buendia is more off the cuff creative and dynamic.. this is how I see it..
  18. Totally agree.. if he was playing in place of Emi, I’m convinced we wouldn’t have lost that game.. where is he by the way.. is he injured?
  19. doesn't that make him eligible for the Irish national team
  20. Thanks for saving me from quoting myself and I’d go for lots of 4’s and 1’s..
