  1. From BBC Sport - 'Andre Villas-Boas believes his Tottenham side face an impossible task against Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup, and that they have not been given a fair crack at the competition due to fixture congestion. Spurs travel to Villa Park on Tuesday for the third-round clash, barely 48 hours after their 1-0 Premier League win at Cardiff. "This is an impossible game for us to play, but hopefully our team spirit and motivation can get us through," he said. "It (the Capital One Cup) is not our absolute number one priority but I don't think we have been given a fair chance to play in this competition this year."
  2. Turned 18 on the 10th of September according to transfermarkt Turned 18 on the 10th of September according to transfermarkt Hope we get him signed up on a professional contract soon!
  3. How did he look in the Norwich game?
  4. Harry Kane is a 20 year old forward on the bench for Spurs today. Other than that Erik Lamela is probably the most attacking player.
  5. Being just a point behind Man Utd after 5 games, having played the teams we have with level goal difference puts our start into perspective a bit!

  7. 'Bumper' crowd expected apparently. Villa advising those buying tickets on the day to arrive early. Hoping for another game above 40k!
  8. Just noticed Belgium only had one international at this point and it was just up in Scotland so Benteke should be fit and rested to some extent over other international players for this one.
  9. Saturday can't come soon enough. Newcastle should be our direct competition really so with home advantage we've got to be getting points in this fixture, 1 if not 3.
  10. Gabby deserves a call up. Hodgeson is a fool to over look him, deserves to be in the squad just as much as Defoe in my opinion. Who knows what Benteke, Weimann and even Helenius of the England set up with them all head off on international duty and Gabby having 3 weeks off. It's to our gain though, he's fresh for Newcastle now!

    Singapore & Japan

Yeah well seeing it is my priority but if there were Villa fans that gathered for it then I'd definitely make an effort to head there. I emailed the guy 'Mark Ho' who is listed as being in charge of the Villa Lions supporters club in SG but his replies were in broken English, didn't answer any of my questions, he kept asking for a phone number and where I was staying and he called me 'Mr David' haha I found online that Mio Stadium are showing it after the Liverpool vs Swansea game so it should be on in most bars with TV's right?
  12. 78mph from a virtual stand still when he jinks/fakes the other way. Keeper didn't stand a chance in fairness. Serious power.
  13. No he doesn't. He'll place the ball and blast it (against the Baggies for one) when needed. It's called finishing. This is his best goal this season in my opinion. Was going to post the GIF last night but I didn't know how to. Here's the link anyway! http://d3fsqtc6sy2z27.cloudfront.net/uploads/bcf963c9cfff22257d2557668ba6191e_large
  14. I think he was interested at below 10mil but it'll be interesting to see how far above that he's willing to stay in for. I don't doubt the player is worth it, if he had been the second top assists in the Premier League, he would be worth far more I'd guess!
  15. Don't think any of us would hesitate to back Lambert in the transfer market. Not sure he 100% backs himself over this lad, he really does like a bargain, I'd suggest it's the Scotsman in him.
  16. He said he had an idea of what the team starting at Arsenal would be but he wouldn't guarantee it would be playing at Malaga. Pretty standard non committal football manager response really.

    Singapore & Japan

Going to be in Singapore next week on my way back to the UK. Anybody got a recommendation for somewhere to watch the Villa game? With us playing Arsenal who are pretty popular in Asia and it being the first game of the season there must be somewhere showing it? Especially with 3pm's being televised overseas.
  18. Dempsey has moved to the Seattle Sounders - $9mil
  19. He is and will remain unsalable for the club! Hiroshi Kiyotake (23) has apparently attracted the attention of Aston Villa again. According to information from the British newspaper "Mirror" wants to boost his bid for the standard specialists clearly the Premier League club. Already a month ago had to last year's tables-15th taken with a 10-million offer a basket (FIG) reported. Then coach Paul Lambert had traveled to the club owners in the U.S. to get the "green light" for the million offer. Now the club from Birmingham even wants to separate for a commitment by the Japanese equal of six players to have more financial leeway. But the second attempt, according to the English club manager Martin Bader save (45): "We still have not received an offer. We also do not deal with it. " Should read: The newly traded quotation from eleven to twelve million euros leave the FCN not be weak. Even the much-cited pain threshold is not reached. The information is according to BILD well over 15 million Euros. Since Aston Villa will probably have to stretch a little more.
  20. I wonder why that's taken so long! Something must have been out of stock. My order was dispatched the same day and in Australia within 3 days. I thought it was really good service
  21. KTF (keep the faith) as Bent would say himself
  22. I don't think we'll shift much of the 'bomb squad' until the end of the window, Darren included. We're still a month off that. He's going to look a decent prospect as a panic option to somebody after a couple of losses in a the first few games as guaranteed goals for 6million. I think we're right to hold out and Randy should just stump up the cash in the short term for any extra additions Lambert wants. The money from these players will come eventually.
  23. Anyone tried to shift Bent on Football Manager? It's tough. Fee is too high for a player of his age and wages are a big stumbling point for most clubs. Only a very poorly managed/operated club would give him anything close to what he is getting just now. QPR in recent times perhaps but even they've wised up now 'Arry is calling the shots.
  24. Agree with that side being our strongest at present, including the Helenius/Sylla switch if tactics need changing. Lambert did say that Malaga wouldn't necessarily see our starting side though at the fans forum tonight. I would imagine there will still be bulk substitutions to get everyone a decent run out. Hopefully see some youth featuring again! Would be a fantastic chance for them against strong opposition. This is the kind of preseason friendly where it really doesn't matter much about the scoreline beyond for the fans sake! Hopefully a Saturday afternoon at 3pm will be a nice occasion though. I wonder what ticket sales have been like? Anyone know? Definitely a good opportunity for the new boys to experience playing at Villa Park in some capacity before the Liverpool game. Went to the Valencia game a few years ago which was a bit of a bore, although I remember Fabio Capello was there, just about the highlight! Inter Milan before that was quite good fun though. Saturday afternoon should be better than Friday night for attendance anyway I would hope! Reckon we could fair quite well against Malaga! Anyone care for a prediction? Tempted by 2-1 Villa.
