  1. Think this was discussed lots much earlier in the thread. The lack of transfer fee would allow for front-loading the contract, effectively paying JC his own transfer fee, allowing for his wages to be lower. No idea if this would be something MON would sanction but I don't think the theory is impossible. It would also put Cole on far and away more than anyone else at the club. Not worth the potential hassle that would cause, as such i agree with Richard. aint going to happen. That was kinda the point of my post though - you wouldn't have to pay him more because the money you wouldn't be spending on a transfer fee could be paid as a signing-on fee to the tune of the gap between his current Chelsea wages and what Villa were willing to pay (without upsetting the current wage structure). I'm not saying it's likely as I'm sure it's probably not going to happen - I was just saying that wages alone wouldn't rule it out.

  3. This! Win-Win as I see it. But lets face it, 30 million would allow us to kick on and buy three good players. Milner is replacable. If 30 million was on the table we would be stupid not to take it IMO. Although I wouldnt be sad if Milner stays... The problem is if we can get the right players in to become a better side after losing Milner. That's the worry for me. £30m is a fantastic sum of money but I'm sure it would only be a matter of days before we started hearing stories of "because everyone knows we got £30m from the Milner sale, all the prices of our prospective signings have just gone up". I'm totally torn, I think £30m is too good to turn down but I'd worry that we'd be able to effectively use the money.
  4. Didn't see it but from what I heard, it went to Defoe.
  5. I'll be the first to say that I pay for sex pretty much every time I have it. Obviously that's just because the gf uses a credit-based nooky system
  6. we could just try shooting gabby15 ? Whilst not a global cure, every little helps
  7. Especially when the majority of the poor believe that you can cure yourself of AIDS by sleeping with a virgin :facepalm;
  8. New anti-rape female condom, Rape-axe, debuts at South Africa's World Cup
  9. Seems to be a rumour that's gathering pace rather quickly: ESPN
  10. How can Talksport know this when Fabio himself said yesterday that he wouldn't be changing timing of the announcement of the team? Becuase of what happens in training. Doesn't make any sense. Players complaining that they never know what the team is until 2 hours before a game, Capello says that's how it is and it's not going to change but Talksport know the line-up 28 hours before a game based on a closed training session (apart from the first 10 minutes of warming-up)? This is Talksport, remember and as such, this has to be no more than speculation.

  12. Did that last line make it sound like I have the kind of dreams I imagine gabby15 has? :shock:
  13. Lucid dreams are what you want. Being able to control your dream. Imagine the possibilities! Very rare but I've had them Funny, I'd presumed everyone could do it. I'm evidently in a small minority then. My favourite is when you wake up a bit, think about the dream and where you want it to go and then go back and carry on the dream as you'd imagined it in semi-conscious state. I always get the girl
  14. Excellent film. I do hope you checked out the extras. Really interesting interviews from a first-time film maker there.
  15. Ditto - always thought he comes across as a decent bloke and I'd like to see him in a Villa shirt. Sure lots would disagree but I think he'd offer a bit more energy through the middle.
  16. Definitely prefer it without the strap-line.
  17. Could have sworn this had been mentioned earlier in this thread but couldn't find it so now I'm not so sure. Michael Rapaport signs up for clinical trials and the pills he is testing give him super powers (or do they just send him mental?)
  18. Guessed as much I love the fact that such things are still done by fax in these modern times.
  19. Where did you hear that? I was fairly sure that Randy said pretty much the opposite in his recent round of interviews.
  20. I've heard similar type stories about the machines they keep bar 'hot nuts' in. But they're too damn tasty to stop eating. Such stories exist all over the place though. I worked for a big chocolate producer who didn't cease production when they had a rat infestation. I also did some work at a fizzy-drinks plant and the pipes they used to transport the syrup concentrate around to the bottling machine was replaced every few months because the syrup corroded it so badly (big, thick, steel pipes). Then there was a friend of mine who worked in a cheese factory. He told me that his job was to collect the F.C. so that they could use it as the main constituent ingredient in the cheese slices (the ones you get on your burger etc). I didn't think anything of it until he pointed out that F.C. stood for Floor Cheese and that "collecting" it basically meant sweeping it up off the floor. I think if you knew the production processes for most of the things you eat, you'd die pretty quick if you let that knowledge affect you.
  21. Villa, obviously. Then again I'm Scottish (but I'd still pick Villa over Scotland - not that it would ever be an issue )
  22. OK, so this might be a big ask but if you can get past the day-glo Miami-Vice style intro credits and the fact that the entire score is written and performed by Wang-Chung, you might find a really good 80's movie in To Live and Die in L.A. I vaguely remember seeing it at the time but dug it out again this week. It's very dated and it's not quite The French Connection but it's still a hugely watchable film.
